Commentators stunned as 'Sam Warburton's doppelganger' seen at Welsh rugby match
The Irish commentary team for Scarlets' clash with Munster were left stumped after mistaking an individual for Sam Warburton. Munster defeated Scarlets 29-8 at Thomond Park on Saturday evening, with a number of Wales' Six Nations squad members on display. Macs Page bagged a fine solo score on the night and it was branded as "outstanding" by Premier Sports commentary duo Ryle Nugent and Alan Quinlan. However, it wasn't the only moment in the match that left the commentators stunned. Looking after Holz was an individual who looks almost exactly like British and Irish Lions legend Warburton, and the RTE commentary team of Donal Lenihan and Hugh Cahill were left open-mouthed. "Is that Sam Warburton there?," asked Cahill, to which Lenihan replied: "It looks like him, doesn't it?!" "It's not him but it looks like is him!," said Cahill. "No, it's not Sam Warburton," added Lenihan. "It looks like him though, doesn't it?," said Cahill, with Lenihan replying with: "It's unbelievable yeah..." "His stunt double! He was commentating last week in Murrayfield where we were," joked Cahill. "He was a very good seven, to be fair to him, but he can't be in two places at once," said Lenihan. "The absolute head of him, though," added Cahill. Little did the Irish duo know at the time, the man in question is Ben Warburton, Sam's twin brother, who works as a physio for the Scarlets. He graduated as a physiotherapist in 2010 from Cardiff University and has also worked for Dragons RFC, Cardiff Rugby and Wales Sevens. College roundup: SUNY Canton women's goalie Lenihan takes weekly award
Jan. 28—SYRACUSE — SUNY Canton sophomore Molly Lenihan was announced Monday as the State University of New York Athletic Conference's women's hockey goaltender of the week for the second time this season. Lenihan, who is from West Chezzetcook, Nova Scotia, made 67 saves on 68 shots faced over the weekend in which the Kangaroos went 1-0-1. Lenihan made 31 saves in a 1-0 shutout victory against host SUNY Potsdam on Friday. It was her first shutout of the season and the fourth of her SUNY Canton career. Lenihan then made 36 saves in Canton's 1-1 overtime tie against SUNY Potsdam, stopping 23 shots in the first two periods. Lenihan, who was also named Goaltender of the Week on Nov. 18, has totaled 355 saves this season with a .939 save percentage. She's ranked third in SUNYAC in saves and fifth in save percentage. The Roos are 5-11-1 this season and 4-7-1 in SUNYAC. WOMEN'S SWIMMING MRUZIK NAMED TOP ROOKIE St. Lawrence University's Lilly Mruzik was named the Liberty League's Rookie of the Week on Monday for women's swimming and diving. Over the weekend, Mruzik swam to victory in the 200-yard backstroke during the Saints' tri-meet against Hartwick and Alfred State. The East Aurora native recorded a time of 2 minutes, 17.61 seconds in the victory. MEN'S SQUASH MALSANG TAKES HONOR St. Lawrence's Gregory Malsang claimed Liberty League Rookie of the Week honors Monday. Malsang played in his first CA individual nationals over the weekend and recorded an 11-6, 11-2, 11-6 victory over Trinity's Alec Spiro to reach the semifinals of the Molloy East bracket. Malsang lost his semifinal match.
