Courtney Stodden Reveals She Has Quit Alcohol At 30: 'I Used It To Survive Trauma'
Courtney Stodden has announced she has quit alcohol to focus on her sobriety and mental health. Calling alcohol a toxic escape, the model said she's ready to leave behind unhealthy habits and reclaim her life. This comes after Courtney Stodden reflected on her abusive marriage at 16 to Doug Hutchison, declaring she'll no longer stay silent and hopes to empower fellow survivors through her journey. Courtney Stodden Embraces Sobriety At 30: 'Alcohol Turned Into A Trap' Stodden has officially quit drinking after celebrating her 30th birthday, a move she says has left her feeling "very happy" as she embraces a new chapter focused on sobriety and wellness. Speaking to the Daily Mail, the model and actress, who just landed a Lifetime biopic, said stepping away from alcohol has also helped stabilize her mental health. "Giving up alcohol also helps with my mental health. I feel better without it," she revealed, adding that she used to lean on alcohol as a way to cope with fame and personal struggles. "Alcohol was my escape for years, but it turned into a trap," Stodden explained. "I used it to survive trauma, but it ended up making me feel more lost and ashamed. This breakup isn't just with a substance—it's with a version of myself I'm ready to leave behind." She admitted that what once seemed harmless spiraled into unhealthy patterns: "At some point, blacking out stopped being cute. I used alcohol to deal with pain, but all it did was make things messier—and make me louder in all the wrong ways. I'm finally cutting ties. Alcohol and I? Total toxic ex energy." The Model Publicly Broke Up With Alcohol: 'It's Been A Toxic Relationship' Stodden announced her newfound sobriety on Instagram on Tuesday as she wrote, "Alcohol, I'm breaking up with you. It's been a toxic relationship for years. Something I used to cope, to escape, to survive. But it's hurt me more than it's ever helped me—publicly and privately." "Last night was the last time," she declared. "I'm done letting it control me. I'm done feeling sick and ashamed. I want to be fully present in my life. I want to face my past, my trauma, and my current reality with clear eyes and real strength. To those who understand this battle, thank you." Stodden added, "Please respect my space as I walk this new path. It's not easy, but it's necessary." Though she wrestled with whether to make the announcement, Stodden said it felt right to share this deeply personal milestone. "This is something I've gone back and forth about posting. But my life has always been so public, and this is a big part of my healing," the media personality noted. Fans And Celebs Rally Around Courtney Stodden's Sobriety Journey In the comments, fans showed support for Stodden's sobriety journey. One encouraged, "Good for you. You are never ever going to be sad the next morning that you didn't have a drink." Another shared a personal milestone: "I'm sober 8 months plus at this point. Best decision ever made. Here for you if you need a friend. You got this." Some offered tips, like "Ginger beer and cranberry juice! Makes you think you are drinking without the hangovers, shame, and regret." Another wrote, "That's awesome! Sobriety is a wonderful thing and a way to live. It's all about the journey and not the destination." The Model Reflects On Teenage Her Marriage, Vows To Reclaim Her Voice Stodden's sobriety announcement comes after she reflected on her controversial past as a teenage bride while marking what would have been her 14th wedding anniversary. Speaking to the Daily Mail, the "Couples Therapy" star admitted marrying "A Time to Kill" actor Doug Hutchison at 16 was a huge mistake, one she refuses to sugarcoat. Hutchison was 51 when they wed in a Las Vegas chapel in 2011. "It stays with me, the pain, I won't stay quiet," Stodden said, calling Hutchison "emotionally abusive." The model then declared: "My voice is my power, and for every voice silenced, I'll shout louder. And I won't ask for permission to do what's right. Not anymore. I speak for that little girl within." Courtney Stodden Is Living Life On Her 'Own Terms Now' Stodden further emphasized she intends to live life on her "own terms" and wants to be an inspiration to others who have had a similar experience as her. "I am living life on my own terms now," she stated. "Everything that's happened in my life, I have handled. I am strong, resilient. I am coming back to myself. I will never let anyone silence me again." Stodden also hopes her story empowers others: "I want past victims and survivors to really tap into that part of themselves. We are so strong." The 44-year-old This Is Us star glowed in an appropriately summery blue tie-dye dress as she flaunted her impressive 100-pound weight loss on the red carpet; pictured before her weight loss on the right in February 2023 The actress wore her brunette hair parted down the middle and let it cascade down her shoulders in thick wavy strands. Chrissy, who weighed in on whether she would ever take weight-loss drugs like Ozempic while speaking with revealed in her conversation that weight lifting has been an essential part of her health journey in recent months. Metz was joined at the celebration by The Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham, who looked festive in a cream-colored satin dress with tasseled sleeves and a sheer skirt. She also posed with the inspiration for her upcoming lifetime film, the real-life Nichole Jolly. Jolly was among of group of nurses who risked their lives to care for patients amid the devastating Camp Fire that destroyed much of Paradise and its surrounding towns in Northern California's Butte County in November 2018. The registered nurse worked to evacuate patients from the Feather River Hospital, before she tried to drive away from the quickly approaching flames. She described to ABC News at the time how she called her family and shared her fears that she wouldn't make it out of the blaze alive, before her vehicle was rear-ended by another driver and pushed off the road, forcing her to flee on foot. Sparks burning debris rained down around her, setting her pants on fire, and she took refuge in a parked car that a doctor from the hospital was sitting in, but she soon had to run out of that car after it too filled up with toxic smoke. 'I thought I was gonna die right there,' the nurse recalled. 'There was no oxygen.' But she ran straight into a miracle as a passing fire crew saw her and stopped to fully extinguish her burning clothes before pulling her to safety. Jolly survived with only minor burns and blisters, but 85 people lost their lives in the wildfire, which also displaced over 50,000 people and turned more than 18,000 buildings to little more than ash and rubble. 'Nichole's bravery and devotion to others, even when everything around her was collapsing, is something we don't see enough of,' Metz said of the heroic nurse, according to JubileeCast. 'Her story reminds us that faith isn't abstract — it's what we cling to when we have nothing else.' Faith In The Flames premieres on Lifetime on Saturday, July 19, at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT.

The announce lands alongside his brand-new single 'Cross Your Mind', a highly requested ID from fans since its debut at his 005 Paris show, which amassed 1M+ views within days of footage hitting socials. The track sits in a similar sphere to Tobiahs' now Platinum-certified smash hit 'Lifetime', floating between late-night reflection and elation. For Tobiahs, connection has always come first. The producer and DJ has been building a devoted community over the past few years — one that doesn't just listen to his music but actively shapes it. With TO YOU, BY US (VOL. 1), Tobiahs flips the traditional release model on its head, handing creative direction to the people who know the music best: his fans. It's the debut in a series of fan-guided projects, with each track handpicked based on crowd demand, live reaction, and community feedback. The project's eight tracks were born on dancefloors, in late-night YouTube rabbit holes, and through DMs with friends. Every song earned its place because of the community. The latter has charted in the UK, and became a Top 20 national radio hit across AU, also receiving strong UK radio play from Capital Dance, KISS, and BBC Radio 1, including an interview with Sian Eleri. Tobiahs' growing momentum has been matched with extensive DSP editorial support, including #1 placement on Apple Music UK's Dance XL and the cover of Massive Dance Hits. The project follows an explosive run that's seen Tobiahs clock 125M+ streams and over 58M social views in under 18 months earning him sold-out headline dates everywhere from London to Delhi to Toronto, and a debut of his new live show to over 5,000 adoring fans in Sydney and Melbourne. EXCLUSIVE Courtney Stodden has QUIT drinking alcohol to cope with past trauma as it 'made me feel ashamed'
Courtney Stodden is giving up alcohol after turning 30-years-old. And the former teen bride has told that she is 'very happy with the decision' as she works on her 'sobriety journey and overall health.' 'Giving up alcohol also helps with my mental health,' Courtney, who has recently signed on for a new Lifetime biopic, shared. 'I feel better without it.' The wife of movie producer Jared Safier then explained that she had reached for drinks when she felt stressed by fame. 'Alcohol was my escape for years, but it turned into a trap,' shared Stodden to 'I used it to survive trauma, but it ended up making me feel more lost and ashamed. This breakup isn't just with a substance—it's with a version of myself I'm ready to leave behind. 'At some point, blacking out stopped being cute. I used alcohol to deal with pain, but all it did was make things messier—and make me louder in all the wrong ways. I'm finally cutting ties. Alcohol and I? Total toxic ex energy.' More Americans are abstaining from alcohol consumption. This trend is particularly noticeable among younger adults, who are increasingly embracing a 'sober curious' lifestyle, according to Time magazine. Stodden broke the news of her newfound sobriety on Instagram on Tuesday as she began, 'Alcohol, I'm breaking up with you. It's been a toxic relationship for years. 'Something I used to cope, to escape, to survive. But it's hurt me more than it's ever helped me—publicly and privately,' wrote the siren. 'Last night was the last time. I'm done letting it control me. I'm done feeling sick and ashamed. I want to be fully present in my life. I want to face my past, my trauma, and my current reality with clear eyes and real strength. To those who understand this battle—thank you.' Stodden also shared: 'Please respect my space as I walk this new path. It's not easy, but it's necessary.' The pinup model who resembled Marilyn Monroe also wrote: 'This is something I've gone back and forth about posting. But my life has always been so public and this is a big part of my healing.' Hugh Hefner's ex-girlfriend Crystal Hefner commented, 'I am so proud of you. I haven't drank since 2009 and it's the best thing. Life is so much brighter and happier without the poison bringing me down. You got this.' Stodden replied, 'Soul sis❤️.' Former talk show host Ricki Lake added, 'You got this.' Her nemesis Chrissy Teigen, who once told Stodden via social media to more or less die - gave up alcohol as well but recently re- introduced it. The SI model has admitted she doesn't have a 'normal' relationship with alcohol and has to work on that. The runway veteran also expressed gratitude for the support she has received from her husband, All Of Me singer John Legend. This comes after Courtney shared her feelings on her tragic teenage bride story after her 14 year wedding anniversary. The beauty told that tying the knot with 65-year-old A Time To Kill actor Doug Hutchinson was a bad move and she won't pretend otherwise. She was just 16-years-old when she married Hutchison, who was 51 at the time, at a Las Vegas wedding chapel in 2011. 'It stays with me, the pain, I won't stay quiet,' she told adding Doug was 'emotionally abusive.' The model then said: 'My voice is my power and for every voice silenced, I'll shout louder. And I won't ask for permission to do what's right. Not anymore. I speak for that little girl within.' Stodden added: 'I am living life on my own terms now. Everything that's happened in my life, I have handled. I am strong, resilient. I am coming back to myself. I will never let anyone silence me again.' And she wants to help others: 'I want past victims and survivors to really tap into that part of themselves. We are so strong.' She has also called Doug a 'groomer' who had control over her body, and finances.' Due to her being a minor, Courtney's parents had to sign off on the union. 'I think the marriage that I went through in Vegas — it was so fast and I couldn't process it because I was 16,' Courtney shared. Stodden acknowledged the 14-year anniversary of her married to Doug. She shared: '14 years ago, a 16-year-old girl stepped into a world that would try to break her. Relentlessly bullied, mocked, told to end her life. Violated. Shattered. Lost in pain she never asked for. 'But she survives… 'Today is a sacred reminder: we are not defined by what was done to us—we are defined by the fire it forged within us. By how we rise. By how we protect the little girl who still lives inside us, fiercely and unapologetically. 'I will never let anyone silence her again. I wake up for her. I fight for her. And every day, I choose to stand in my power. 'To every woman reading this: you are not alone. You are not broken. You are becoming.' She faced widespread media scrutiny and was labeled everything from a 'child bride' to a 'whore' for marrying a man 34 years her senior, all of which impacted her body image and mental health. The couple went on to appear in a string of reality TV shows such as Couples Therapy, Celebrity Big Brother and Hollywood Hillbillies. This comes just as Stodden shared a note about 'coming back' while touching on her 'strength and ambition' following her teen wedding scandal from over a decade ago. Stodden's note to her Insta Stories was powerful. 'She's coming back to herself... Look at her,' began the passage. 'Everything that's happened in her life, she's f***ing handled. She works hard. She is strong, she is ambitious, she is resilient. She is genuine and loyal. 'Anyone who doesn't value what she brings to the table, doesn't deserve her. She's seeing her worth. She's living life on her terms. She's coming back to herself.' The quote was from Women Of The Future. The former teen bride is wed to movie producer Jared Safier at the Casa de Monte Vista hotel in Palm Springs, California. It was in a 'last-minute' ceremony, she said. Courtney began dating the Emmy-winning TV producer in summer 2023 after meeting on the set of a film project and they were engaged by June 2024. She told the outlet that she and Jared felt now was the 'perfect time' to get married as both of their families were in Los Angeles for the Thanksgiving holiday. 'We planned on getting married, and we didn't have a date. We just kind of looked at each other, and we're the same kind of crazy. We just looked at each other and we're just like, 'This is the perfect time to do it,' she explained. After exchanging their vows, Courtney and Jared treated their guests to vegan food at the reception.
