Madonna's Life Is Coming To The Small Screen — And Her Music Is Back On The Charts
Madonna's 'Erotica' and 'Like a Prayer' return to U.K. charts amid excitement over her new album ... More Confessions 2 and a just-announced Netflix miniseries. RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL - MAY 04: Madonna performs onstage during "The Celebration Tour: at Copacabana beach on May 04, 2024 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. (Photo by Kevin Mazur/WireImage for Live Nation) There's a lot of excitement around Madonna at the moment. In the first half of 2025, she began teasing that she is working on a new album, and there are even reports that she has played it for some people. There's no word yet on when Confessions 2 — apparently a sequel to her Grammy-winning Confessions on a Dance Floor — will arrive, but the mere mention that she is back in the studio is thrilling to many of her longtime fans. A new Netflix miniseries around her life has also recently been announced. Again, there isn't a solid timeline, and hopefully this doesn't end up like her feature film, which went through several starts and stops and may now be dead in the water as she pivots to a series. Amidst all of this excitement, fans in the United Kingdom have also recently returned to buying some of Madonna's biggest hits — the ones that turned her into the global superstar she is today — sending multiple cuts back to different tallies as they keep buying in various formats. Two of Madonna's songs appear on the charts in the U.K. at the moment. There's no overlap in terms of which rankings they appear on, and both of them only find space on one list apiece. Between the two, 'Erotica' is the top performer. That track reenters the Official Physical Singles chart at No. 75. The cut debuted on the list in 2017 and was last seen in the second-to-last position in December. 'Like a Prayer' is also a bestseller again, but only barely this frame. It breaks back onto the Official Singles Downloads chart at No. 97. The classic only debuted on that tally in May of last year and was a consistent bestseller for months. It's only been a few weeks since 'Like a Prayer' last appeared on the downloads-only list. Both 'Erotica' and 'Like a Prayer' have reached the top 10 on their respective tallies, but neither one has hit No. 1, despite ranking among her most familiar tunes. Coincidentally, the two have spent exactly 36 weeks each on the rosters where they currently reside. Of course, the tracks have been around for decades and are still relatively new to these rosters, but they enjoyed major success on the Official Singles chart — the ranking of the most-consumed songs in the nation — many years before they debuted on either of these two lists. Madonna also enjoys a similar performance on the albums rankings, as two projects appear on one list apiece. The Immaculate Collection jumps almost 50 spaces on the Official Album Downloads chart, surging from No. 93 to No. 47. At the same time, Finally Enough Love drops just four spots to No. 96 on the Official Albums Streaming tally.

Madonna and Elton John ended decades-long feud backstage at SNL, singer reveals
Madonna has revealed that she and Elton John are on good terms after two decades of feuding with each other. The drama between the two singers started back in 2002 when John claimed that Madonna 's tune, 'Die Another Day,' was the 'worst' song to ever feature in a James Bond movie. He continued to make digs at Madonna and her music over the years, even calling her a 'c***' on Australian television. However, Madonna has now revealed that she and John have made up. On Instagram on Monday, she shared a photo of her and her new friend backstage at Saturday Night Live, which featured John and Brandi Carlile as musical guests on April 5. 'We Finally Buried the Hatchet!!!' she wrote in the caption. 'I went to see @eltonjohn perform on SNL this weekend!! WOW.' Addressing the longstanding beef, the 'Like a Prayer' artist added: 'Over the decades it hurt me to know that someone I admired so much shared his dislike of me publicly as an artist. I didn't understand it. 'I was told Elton John was the musical guest on SNL and I decided to go.' Following the show, Madonna 'needed to go backstage and confront' John, which led to their reconciliation. 'When I met him, the first thing out of his mouth was, 'Forgive Me' and the wall between us fell down,' she wrote. 'Forgiveness is a powerful tool. Within minutes. We were hugging.' She also teased the possibility of her and Elton John working together, adding: 'Then he told me had written a song for me and he wanted to collaborate. It was like everything came full circle!! And you can tell everybody, This is Your Song………' In the comments of the post, the 'Cold Heart' singer thanked Madonna for coming to see him perform and for 'forgiving [him] and [his] big mouth.' He confessed that he's 'not proud' of the things he's previously said about her, especially when thinking about her 'groundbreaking' achievements, including being 'one of the very first people to rise up against HIV/AIDS in the Eighties.' 'I'm grateful we can move forward,' he continued. 'I'm increasingly distressed by all the divisiveness in our world at the moment. Both you and I have wholeheartedly been accepted and embraced by communities who are under threat around the world.' Two years after John slammed Madonna's 'Die Another Day,' he mocked her at the 2004 Q Awards. While accepting the award for Classic Songwriter, he criticized the fact that Madonna was nominated for the Best Live Act award. 'Madonna, best live act? F*** off,' he said at the time. 'Since when has lip-syncing been live? Sorry about that, but I think everyone who lip-syncs on stage in public when you pay like 75 quid to see them should be shot. Thank you very much. That's me off her Christmas card list, but do I give a toss? No.'

Madonna criticizes Trump's ‘king' quip: ‘If this is a joke, I'm not laughing'
Singer Madonna criticized President Trump on Friday for a recent post online in which he appeared to call himself a 'king.' 'I thought this country was built by Europeans, escaping living under the rule of a King, to establish a New World governed by the people,' she wrote on social platform X. 'Currently we have a president who calls Himself … Our King.' 'If this is a joke, I'm not laughing,' the 'Like a Prayer' singer added. The back-and-forth comes after the Trump administration announced Wednesday it would rescind the Biden-era approval of a congestion pricing plan for New York City. 'CONGESTION PRICING IS DEAD. Manhattan, and all of New York, is SAVED,' the president posted on Truth Social, celebrating the development. 'LONG LIVE THE KING!' The White House shared the quote in a post on X, including a Time magazine-style illustration of Trump wearing and crown and Manhattan in the backdrop. Instead of the iconic Time letters, it reads 'TRUMP' and includes the line 'Long live the king.' Madonna, 66, is just one of Trump's many vocal critics who raised concerns about the president calling himself a 'king.' The music star has long been critical of the president. Last month, she accused the Trump administration of 'slowly dismantling all the freedoms we have been fighting for,' while calling on her fans not to give up. 'It's so sad to watch our new Government slowly dismantling all the Freedoms we have been fighting for and WON over the years,' the 'Vogue' musician wrote in a post on X. Madonna's post came hours after Trump signed an executive order aimed at restricting access to gender-affirming care for transgender children and teenagers younger than 19. A separate order has also barred transgender people from serving openly in the military and comes days after another demanded the federal government recognize only two genders. The president has also recently pushed a plan to give the White House more authority over various independent regulatory agencies as his administration seeks to overhaul the federal workforce and cut government spending. The move is likely to prompt legal challenges. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

Madonna condemns Trump administration for ‘dismantling freedoms' of LGBT+ people
Madonna has told her followers 'don't give up the fight' as she condemned Donald Trump 's administration for 'dismantling all the freedoms' of LGBT+ people. Concerns have been growing over the re-elected US president's time in office, as within his first few days he made a series of executive orders targeting transgender, nonbinary and intersex Americans – as well as ordering changes through the federal government that effectively erase recognition of trans people. Madonna made it clear that she shared these concerns on Tuesday (28 January), when the pop icon shared a brief statement on X/Twitter. 'It's so sad to watch our new government slowly dismantling all the freedoms we have been fighting for and WON over the years,' the pop icon wrote, adding a rainbow flag and a broken-hearted emoji. 'Don't give up the fight!' she added. The 'Like a Prayer' star has been a vocal champion for LGBT+ rights for decades, including during the Eighties when she became one of the first notable celebrities to speak out about the Aids epidemic. It's so sad to watch our new Government slowly dismantling all the Freedoms we have been fighting for and WON over the years. 🏳️🌈💔 Don't give up the Fight! — Madonna (@Madonna) January 28, 2025 Her message landed shortly after Trump signed a new executive order titled 'Prioritising Military Excellence and Readiness' that restricts military service by transgender people. The order reinstates a controversial policy from Trump's first term, which was rescinded by Joe Biden in 2021 to allow trans people to enlist in the military and serve openly. Another has directed federal agencies to rescind policies that support or acknowledge gender-affirming healthcare for transgender Americans. The policy – which targets the prescription of puberty blockers, hormone therapies and affirming surgeries for anyone under 19 years old – labels gender-affirming care 'mutilation'. Human Rights Campaign president Kelley Robinson said in a statement: 'Everyone deserves the freedom to make deeply personal health care decisions for themselves and their families — no matter your income, ZIP code, or health coverage. 'This executive order is a brazen attempt to put politicians in between people and their doctors, preventing them from accessing evidence-based health care supported by every major medical association in the country.' Madonna's statement also comes after Selena Gomez posted then deleted an emotional video about the Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids that took place over the weekend, which saw almost a thousand people arrested in major cities in the US as a result of Trump's new immigration policy. 'I just want to say that I'm so sorry. All my people are getting attacked,' the Mexican-American singer said, sobbing. 'The children. I don't understand. I'm so sorry I wish I could do something but I can't. 'I don't know what to do. I'll try everything, I promise,' she said. She later hit back at US Senate candidate Sam Parker, who called for the Grammy-nominated singer to be deported.
