'Laughable' - Van Basten slams Linkin Park at Champions League final

Singer Emily Armstrong performs with her band Linkin Park ahead of the UEFA Champions League final soccer match between Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain at Munich Football Arena. Robert Michael/dpa Former Netherlands star Marco van Basten has lambasted European football's governing body UEFA for allowing US band Linkin Park to perform before Saturday's Champions League final. "I find it absolutely idiotic," the twice European Cup winner with AC Milan told Dutch broadcaster Ziggo Sport, labelling the pre-match entertainment "worthless, totally worthless." He said the act on the pitch directly before the match distracts players when they should be warming up on the turf. "It is laughable," he said of UEFA's treatment of the players.

Linkin Park Held Back From Returning To No. 1 With New Deluxe Album

Linkin Park's From Zero returns to multiple charts in the U.K. following its deluxe reissue, and it ... More almost hits No. 1 on one list, but Bury Tomorrow wins. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - MARCH 17: (FOR EDITORIAL USE ONLY) (L-R) Emily Armstrong, Joe Hahn, Mike Shinoda, and Colin Brittain of Linkin Park attend the 2025 iHeartRadio Music Awards at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California on March 17, 2025. Broadcasted live on FOX. (Photo byfor iHeartRadio) Linkin Park's comeback album From Zero is a major commercial success again in the United Kingdom this week, thanks to a huge uptick in interest, which was sparked by the release of a deluxe edition of the title. The reissue has led to a growth in both streams and sales of the beloved hard rock effort. From Zero, which originally dropped in fall 2024, currently appears on seven U.K. charts. It reenters four of them and climbs on the rest. The bestselling project nearly hits No. 1 on one tally, but is blocked from the top spot by some hometown favorites. From Zero rockets from No. 10 to No. 2 on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. Linkin Park nearly reclaims control of the genre-specific ranking, which focuses solely on the bestselling full-lengths and EPs in rock and metal, but the group misses out on doing so, as a brand new entry keeps the band from landing at No. 1. English metalcore outfit Bury Tomorrow debuts its new release Will You Haunt Me, with That Same Patience in first place. The project becomes the group's fourth leader on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart and seventh top 10 win, which accounts for the entirety of the band's charting successes. While From Zero doesn't reclaim the throne on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, it has already enjoyed a hugely successful run there. The set opened at No. 1 in late November 2024 and held the top spot for eight consecutive frames. In the more than six months since its arrival, it has fallen outside the top 10 only once. Linkin Park pushes its latest full-length back onto four tallies this week, driven by a surge in total consumption, and, seemingly, particularly in sales. The project reenters the top 10 on both the Official Album Downloads and Official Vinyl Albums rankings, landing at Nos. 7 and 8, respectively. It also finds its way back to the Official Albums list and the Official Albums Streaming roster. While not charting as high on those rankings, From Zero comes in at Nos. 23 and 65, respectively, after not appearing on either of those rosters just a short time ago. There are three charts where From Zero doesn't need to return, including the Official Rock & Metal Albums ranking. Linkin Park also climbs back into the top 10 on both the Official Albums Sales list (No. 6) and the Official Physical Albums roster (No. 7), jumping more than 60 spots on each.

The Maggie Pills - Return With Haunting Single 'Velobell'

Naarm/Melbourne-based punk rock band The Maggie Pills have just returned with their atmospheric single ' Velobell ' – produced/co-mixed by the band's own Mario Perez, recorded and mixed by Brad Jackson, and mastered by Grammy-winning engineer Emerson Mancini (Kendrick Lamar, Paramore, Linkin Park). 'Velobell' unfolds with a discordant chord progression and lead singer Delfi Sorondo 's breathy timbre, creating a soundscape that is raw and arresting. Grungy guitars, galloping basslines and driving drums underscore the resounding chorus as the track builds with explosive energy tinged with unease. Complete with an emphatic guitar solo, 'Velobell' is a blistering fusion of grunge distortion and punk urgency. The Maggie Pills talk about the inspiration behind 'Velobell': "At its heart, the song is a message of resilience. It's about the moments when we lose sight of ourselves, when life feels heavy and out of sync - yet something within us refuses to let go. Whether you're wrestling grief, burnout, addiction, or just the quiet emptiness of everyday life, 'Velobell' is a howl from the void that says: 'You're still in there, and you're not alone'." Accompanying the release is a gripping music video, directed by Mario Perez, filmed by Ryan Cara and edited by Sam Mapplebeck (Amyl and the Sniffers, Tropical Fuck Storm). Set in a makeshift forest shrouded in darkness, the clip complements the gritty audio production, evoking a dreamlike descent into chaos. Unflinching close-ups and jarring overexposure dissolve the distance between the band and the audience."The video doesn't just accompany the music - it embodies it," explains Delfi. "Every frame is drenched in a sense of suffocation, desperation, and emotional intensity, inviting the viewer into a world where escape feels impossible." To support 'Velobell' the band will play a launch show at John Curtin Hotel in Narrm/Melbourne on Friday, June 13. In the live arena, the group has shared the stage with Black Lips (USA), Shihad, Cable Ties, The Meanies, Battlesnake, The Mark Of Cain and Private Function and have sold out multiple headline shows, including their ' GOLD ' single launch. Led by Argentinian frontwoman Delfi Sorondo and Venezuelan drummer Mario Perez, the group formed in 2019 shortly after both members immigrated to Australia. Their music has been supported by triple j, triple j Unearthed, Double J and Australian Community Radio stations such as 3RRR, PBS, 2SER, 4ZZZ and many more. In the blogsphere, they have seen support from Rolling Stone (AUS), Pilerats, Backseat Mafia (UK / AUS), Blunt Magazine, The Music, Wall of Sound, Tone Deaf and HEAVY Magazine to name a few.

Linkin Park Blocked From A Landmark No. 1 Hit By Two Hard Rock Stars

Linkin Park's 'Let You Fade' debuts at No. 2 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart, losing to ... More Marilyn Manson and Falling In Reverse's 'God Is a Weapon.' (Photo by Medios) Linkin Park recently released a deluxe version of its comeback album From Zero, which arrived on May 16. The expanded set, which bolts up the Billboard charts this week thanks to a surge in sales and streams, features three new tracks, though only one had not been previously shared. Following the full-length project dropping as a complete effort, its one brand new cut, 'Let You Fade,' debuts on a number of rankings this week. The tune nearly grants the hard rockers another No. 1, but two other stars keep the band from the top spot. 'Let You Fade' launches at No. 2 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart. According to Luminate, in its first full tracking frame of availability, the track sold just under 1,600 copies. The song is held from the summit by 'God Is a Weapon,' the new collaboration between Falling in Reverse and Marilyn Manson. That tune opens at No. 1 on the same tally and beats Linkin Park's latest by roughly 500 pure purchases. 'Let You Fade' marks Linkin Park's thirty-second top 10 hit on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart. It would have been the group's landmark fifteenth No. 1, but for now, the band will have to settle for a close second — just shy of the summit. The new track is one of several Linkin Park cuts to narrowly miss leading the tally. As it arrives, it joins fellow fan favorites like 'What I've Done,' 'Lost in the Echo,' 'Wastelands,' and 'More the Victim,' all of which peaked at No. 2 over the years. Manson earns his fourth No. 1 on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart as 'God Is a Weapon' debuts. Falling in Reverse, meanwhile, secures its milestone tenth leader. While Linkin Park doesn't add to its count this time, it's worth noting that the Grammy-winning band has already accrued as many No. 1s as both of those chart-toppers combined.
