Want a 3D lock screen? Here's how the new iOS 26 spatial scene works on iPhone

Apple has recently rolled out the iOS 26 public beta, and several iPhone users have already started testing the new features ahead of the stable rollout. With iOS 26, iPhones will receive a redesigned user interface with Liquid Glass UI, bringing a more fluid experience. While the update is bringing several new features, iOS 26 will include a new 3D lock screen, which is being called 'Spatial Scene'. This new lock screen feature converts still images into a 3D effect, giving more depth to the image and enhancing the overall look of the lock screen wallpaper. Therefore, know how the iOS 26 spatial scene works and how iPhone users can customise their lock screen. Here's a detailed guide to how the iOS 26 spatial scene works.(Apple) What is a spatial scene in iOS 26? At the WWDC 2025, Apple introduced the spatial scene with iOS 26 that transforms images and wallpaper into attractive 3D effects. This feature uses on-device AI and motion sensors to give still images a depth and sense of motion. This 3D effect can be recognised once an iPhone user tilts or moves their iPhone, showcasing animations to the foreground and background scene. This feature is currently available on iOS 26 public beta, and is expected to roll out to all users in September alongside the iPhone 17 series launch. Therefore, know how the iOS 26 spatial scene works on iPhone: Step 1: Long-press and hold your lock screen for a few seconds, then you will be provided with options to change wallpaper or add customisations. Simply select the '+' icon to add a 3D lock screen. Step 2: Now select a wallpaper image of your choice, or directly pick from the spatial scene suggestions that will automatically pick images that will look good in 3D scenes. Step 3: Now adjust the wallpaper as per your requirement by pinching to zoom and crop. However, make sure the hexagon-shaped icon is enabled to turn on the spatial scene on the lock screen wallpaper. Step 4: After setting the wallpaper, you can make further customisation to the lock screen, such as expanding the clock size, changing its font, and colours that match your wallpaper. Lastly, add widgets of your choice and save the changes. This will not only enhance your lock screen look, but will also give an impressive depth to the lock screen wallpaper on iPhone. However, keep in mind that the stable iOS 26 update is yet to be released, and we are currently testing this feature on the public beta version.

iOS 26 Liquid Glass UI for iPhones is no longer ‘liquid' nor ‘glass' after beta 3 update

Liquid Glass did not age well for Apple. Last month in June, Apple introduced the Liquid Glass UI with iOS 26 for iPhones. It introduced a brand new design language for Apple's platforms, majorly focusing on transparency, refraction, and a lot of glass-like elements spread across the operating system, like the Control Centre and various buttons. iOS 26 brings a major visual overhaul, deeper AI integration via Apple Intelligence, and significant improvements.(Apple) After its reveal, many started comparing it to Windows Vista. Some pointed out that this was going to be a readability nightmare because the contrast level was simply not there, and it was hard to make out the text. So, with the second beta, Apple dialled things back a bit and made elements a little more blurry to improve readability, especially with the control centre. But now with the third beta of iOS 26, Apple has gone one step further and has almost made the Liquid Glass effect frosted-like. In fact, buttons and control centre all appear quite different to what they were in the original first beta. This is what users are saying on socials Many were quick to point this out on social media after experiencing the third beta for themselves. @Tech_Marcell, a user on X claims that this looks like a downgrade, and that you can actually see the difference. Many were able to come up with theories as to why Apple is doing this. @iamnanyi on X said that Apple may have realised that Liquid Glass performs poorly on older devices, and issues like overheating and lag may have convinced them that reducing the visual effects could be the way to go for older devices as they are gradually phased out. Another user pointed out that Apple should just add a settings section for the appearance, like light, dark, accent colour, motion blur settings, reflectivity, etc. so that customers can fine-tune their experience. Couple of months to go before the iOS 26 release It's only July so far, and Apple is expected to release the full version of its operating systems with Liquid Glass later this year, with iOS 26 expected in September. It is going to be a while before the final, official version drops. Between now and then, there could be changes to how the UI looks. MOBILE FINDER: iPhone 16 Price and More

How Long Will It Take Your iPhone to Fully Charge? iOS 26 Will Tell You

And since all the attention has been on the Liquid Glass UI, some interesting updates to Battery Settings went largely unnoticed. As MacRumors reports, Apple redesigned the Battery Settings page in iOS 26 to offer improved battery usage statistics and a new feature to extend battery life. Now, when you enter Battery Settings, you are no longer greeted with options to enable Battery Percentage and Low Power Mode. You'll instead see your current battery percentage at the top. If you have plugged in your iPhone to charge, the same menu will show the time required to charge your battery to full. Based on the images shared by MacRumors, the screen auto-lock feature has also shifted from Display & Brightness to Battery. Next are battery usage statistics. In a move away from iOS 18, Apple will now display weekly numbers instead of 24-hour and 10-day numbers. At first glance, the chart looks similar to what you see on Instagram. You can also tap on each of the previous seven days to see how much battery was consumed each day, MacRumors says. The daily stat will show when you charged your iPhone and for how long. Apple has retained the Battery Health section, which displays information about your charge cycles, maximum battery capacity, and optimized charging limit. However, it has introduced a 'Power Mode' section, which houses the Low Power Mode setting previously located on the front page and a new Adaptive Power Mode. When enabled, Adaptive Power Mode will let your iPhone make subtle performance adjustments to extend battery life, such as reducing screen brightness or slowing down some activities. Android's Adaptive Battery feature pretty much does the same thing. All of iOS 26's features will be made available to developers this week. If you are eager to check out the features, you can install a public beta next month or wait for a stable release this fall.
