Dustin Hoffman and wife Lisa, 70, put on a loved-up display as they celebrate his 88th birthday with family in Santa Monica

Dustin Hoffman and wife Lisa put on a loved-up display as they celebrated his 88th birthday in Santa Monica on Friday. The disgraced actor was all smiles as he was seen leaving Italian restaurant Giorgio Baldi with Lisa, 70, and their family. For the occasion, Dustin wore a black quarter zip knitted jumper over a white T-shirt, teamed with trousers and trainers. Meanwhile, Lisa looked typically chic in a cream blazer, teamed with a floral low-cut top and navy maxi skirt. Dustin and Lisa are proud parents of daughters Rebecca and Alexandra, and sons Maxwell and Jacob. They also have four grandchildren. The two-time Oscar winner fathered daughter Jenna Byrne, and step-daughter Karina Hoffman-Birkhead, during his 11-year marriage to his former Papillon co-star Anne Byrne, which ended in 1980. Dustin and Lisa celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary on October 12 last year, but she's reportedly 'kept him on a tight leash' ever since his scandal broke. 'Lisa always stood by him, and he's had to live by a series of strict rules to keep her satisfied,' a source told Radar Online on Tuesday. 'It's like she never lets him out of her sight. And if he's on a set, he must call in every hour, and he better be home in time for dinner.' The Lisa Hoffman Beauty founder was 10 years old when she first met 27-year-old Hoffman in 1964 because his mother Lillian was friends with her grandmother, and they reconnected when she was 22 and he was 38 at her grandmother's funeral. 'Dustin was telling us jokes, playing the piano and encouraging me to dance around the living room,' Lisa recalled to in 2007. 'After we got together, my grandmother reminded me that later that day I had said, "I hope he waits for me because I want to marry him."' Before the scandal, Gottsegen gushed to Closer Magazine in 2017: 'We work hard at [our marriage]. I knew I was going to end up with Dusty, and that my life would be traveling around with him.' It's been seven years since the Emmy winner faced his #MeToo reckoning when he was publicly accused of sexual harassment and assault by six different women during alleged incidents dated between 1980-1991 as detailed to Variety and THR. Dustin currently portrays Nush 'The Fixer' Berman in Francis Ford Coppola's $136M-budget, dismally-reviewed sci-fi drama Megalopolis, which has only earned $12M at the global box office since opening September 27. In March, Hoffman reprised his voiceover role as wise red panda Master Shifu in DreamWorks Animation's animated comedy Kung Fu Panda 4, which amassed $549.2M at the global box office. The Tony-nominated thespian also played himself in the accompanying music video for troubled duo Tenacious D's rock cover of Britney Spears' 1998 hit... Baby One More Time on the soundtrack. An insider told Radar Online: 'He's made a slow comeback, which is pretty good considering his age and having this stigma attached to his name.' Dustin has two upcoming films - Daniel Roher's crime thriller Tuner alongside Tovah Feldshuh and Peter Greenaway's untitled Italian-set drama alongside Helen Hunt. Before his scandal, Hoffman was an esteemed actor honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 1997, the AFI Life Achievement Award in 1999, and the Kennedy Center Honors Award in 2012.
