Bipartisan bill would shield climate law tax credit
House lawmakers from both parties introduced legislation Monday to safeguard and expand a tax incentive from the Democrats' 2022 climate law.
Democratic Rep. Raul Ruiz of California and Republican Rep. Gabe Evans of Colorado introduced the 'Critical Minerals and Manufacturing Support Act' to bolster the advanced manufacturing production tax credit known as 45X, designed to promote solar, wind and battery production.
The bill would increase incentives for the domestic production of critical minerals, battery components and renewable energy technologies and would prioritize job creation and workforce development, the lawmakers said.

'This bill will drive investments into domestic production, strengthen our energy independence, and create thousands of jobs —particularly in regions like Lithium Valley in California, where we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to lead in the global lithium supply chain,' Ruiz said in a statement.
