Kelly Ripa shuts down Mark Consuelos' 'repulsive' morning habit
There's one prevalent bedroom tendency that Kelly Ripa just can't get behind. During an appearance on the "Not Skinny But Not Fat" podcast, Ripa discussed evening versus morning sex, with the talk show veteran telling host Amanda Hirsch that she finds her husband Mark Consuelos' preference for morning intimacy "disgusting." "Men are morning people. He hasn't learned, he'll never learn," Ripa, 54, said of her husband of 29 years. "He wants to kiss. And I have a retainer in. And he's got his nasal strips on. It's like we are the most repulsive, disgusting. I'm already pre-disgusted for tomorrow morning." She added: "I said to him, 'There needs to be a yin and a yang here. It can't always be your way. 'Cause it feels like 90% of the time it's your way." The early call times for the show have "almost repulsed" Consuelos, 54, from morning sex completely. "It's so early, and it's like a miracle. It's like a miracle has occurred," she said. Ripa said elsewhere in the interview that her outlook for keeping one's sex life active, which originated with her TV producer years prior, is to think of it like exercise, where consistency makes it more enjoyable. "The more you do it, the more you do it," she said. "And so, you just have to do it and then you're like, 'Oh, I remember why I like this.'" Consistent sex can also sustain a relationship. Called "maintenance sex," it has plenty of benefits. Research has shown that couples who have sex at least once a week are happier than couples who don't. Sex also releases endorphins to create a feeling of closeness between partners. What is maintenance sex and when does it become a problem? "It's an opportunity for people to engage in fun, affirming sexual touch even if it doesn't come from the deep rutting urge it came from when the relationship was new," Allison Moon, author of "Getting It: A Guide to Hot Healthy Hookups and Shame-free Sex," previously told USA TODAY.

Mark Consuelos Makes ‘Live' Producer Michael Gelman Cry During On-Air Segment
Watching any live sporting event has the potential to trigger an unexpectedly emotional response, whether it's the closing moments of the Super Bowl or the final inning of the World Series. With a backstage producer at Live with Kelly & Mark, it turns out said sporting event takes the form of the famed New York City Marathon, as humorously revealed by Mark Consuelos during a recent episode of the show. During Tuesday's episode of Live, the 54-year-old Consuelos offered up a scientific breakdown of why certain individuals (participants and spectators alike) tend to well up during the New York City Marathon. "I don't know, I'd be crying after the beginning, the first quarter, the half," Consuelos quipped. He then turned his attention to Live producer Michael Gelman, who the former All My Children actor quoted as saying "he often cries watching them." As the camera jumped to Gelman, the television producer responded by confirming he does indeed tend to cry during the final stretch of the Marathon, saying, "I get very emotional at the end." "And I'm saying, you need to get your testosterone checked," Consuelos joked. Further elaborating on his answer, Gelman went to say, "It's very moving, that these people have gone through that. Sometimes they're disabled, sometimes they're crawling, but even sometimes they just went through so much and they're stumbling across the finish line, it's such an achievement." Studying Gelman's face as he said this, Consuelos promptly pointed out, "He's crying right now. You're welling up right now, get a close-up on Gelman's misty eyes." "You could be an actor, maybe," Consuelos continued with a laugh. "A soap opera actor. Summon up the tears!" Seizing upon the moment, Gelman clapped back with saying he was unsure whether he's "an actor or psychopath," triggering a flurry of laughs from the audiences and both Consuelos and co-host Kelly Ripa. The mom of three offered some advice about kids leaving home to "Your Friends & Neighbors" star Amanda Peet on the May 26 episode of "Live with Kelly and Mark" alongside husband and co-host Mark Consuelos. "Let me just say this," Ripa said. "The first one is like a bit of a shock. Each one, the second one, is like, no big deal. Third one, for 24 to 48 hours, you're going to be like, 'Oh my gosh, what have we done now? Now it's just us.' "And then your entire life becomes nudity in the household wherever you want. Total freak show all the time," the daytime star added as Consuelos smiled wide and the audience laughed. "Wow, good to know!" Peet said jokingly, telling the married "Live" co-hosts that she didn't "want to cry" about her eldest daughter moving "very far away" to the "opposite coast." Ripa and Consuelos, who have been married since 1996, share Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 22. The couple's youngest son graduated from the University of Michigan earlier this month. 'The White Lotus' star Aimee Lou Wood revealed she's 'very anti-Botox.' She's not alone. Peet shares daughter Frances Benioff, 18, with her "Games of Thrones" creator husband David Benioff, and the pair have two younger children: Molly, 15, and Henry, 10. Peet said that she sends Frances Benioff advice over text but told Ripa and Consuelos that "I get one reply for every 10 texts I send her." Ripa related with the sentiment, saying that she "sent my kids when they graduated, all of these articles on like 'The best things people look for when hiring,'" and she said, "Nobody reads anything." Consuelos and Ripa said their kids have told them that "you were right" about "everything." During her own childhood, Peet said "it was a secret thing" that she "thought" her parents were cringeworthy.
