Lindsay Lohan ditched Hollywood glamour for 'normal life' in Dubai

Lindsay Lohan is opening up about why she left Hollywood for a new life in Dubai. Lohan, 39, spent the majority of her young career in the spotlight attempting to evade the paparazzi. Now, she's traded in the flashing lights for a "very normal life" away from the scrutiny of Los Angeles. "It's just far away from Hollywood. And I live a very normal life," Lohan said during an appearance on "LIVE with Kelly and Mark." "There's no worry of like, I can't go eat at this place because someone's going to take a picture of my son. It's just, I feel very safe." "It's not legal," she explained, of paparazzi taking photos. "You can't even take a picture of someone else if you're at a restaurant. You have to ask the person. Which is a big difference. The privacy is unique." Lohan previously revealed the lack of privacy in Los Angeles left her stressed out. "It's hard in L.A. Even taking my son to the park in L.A., I get stressed. I'm like, 'Are there cameras?' In New York, there's no worry; no one bothers us," the "Mean Girls" star told Elle magazine in May. Everyone has their own thing going on. There's a different kind of energy in New York. I'd rather have downtime in New York than I would in L.A." "But the nice thing about L.A. is, I like space [and you get that here]. But I'm thinking as I'm saying this, the funny thing is, in Dubai I get all of those things. I get the privacy, I get the peace, I get the space. I don't have to worry there. I feel safe." The "Parent Trap" star, who gained fame at a very young age, noted her experience growing up in the spotlight was tainted by the paparazzi. "I feel like some of [my work] got overshadowed by paparazzi and all that kind of stuff when I was younger, and that's kind of annoying," Lohan told Bustle in 2024. "I wish that part didn't happen." "I feel like that kind of took on a life of its own. So that's why I wanted to disappear. I was like, 'Unless there's no story here, they're not going to focus on just my work.'" Since her return to the big screen, Lohan, who stars alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in "Freakier Friday," said she's found that prioritizing herself makes a huge difference in her overall well-being. For Lohan, family is also a priority. "I mean, it's the most important thing: my husband, my son and me," she added. "It's all about balance and, as I said, routine. Especially when you have a kid, routine is the most important thing. And whatever their routine is, I've got to live by that."

Lindsay Lohan channels her 'Parent Trap' characters' style for 'Freakier Friday' press tour

Lindsay Lohan 's latest fashion moment will have you seeing double. The " Freakier Friday" actress stepped out in two iconic looks on Monday that paid tribute to the twin sisters she portrayed in the 1998 film, " The Parent Trap." The film followed a pair of identical twins, Annie James and Hallie Parker, who are separated at birth and each raised by one of their biological parents. The twins discover each other for the first time at summer camp and make a plan to bring their parents back together. In her first look, which she wore during her appearance on "Good Morning America" Monday morning, Lohan wore a butter yellow tweed outfit from Balmain -- a reference to her character, Annie James. Lohan wore a similar tweed look in the movie when Annie James is first introduced and arrives at summer camp. Her second look that gave off "Parent Trap" vibes was when she stepped out in a Roberto Cavalli cheongsam-inspired mini dress. Her character in the film, Hallie Parker, wore a similar look in the film, in the scene where Hallie and Annie plan a romantic dinner date for their parents aboard a yacht. Lohan took to Instagram to share both looks. In the caption for a photo in the butter yellow look, she wrote, "Annie James energy with a Freakier Friday Twist 💛" She added in a second post of her Hallie Parker inspired outfit, "A little shine, a little silk, a lot of love and some inspo from Hallie Parker 😉💚💜" Lohan's latest film, "Freakier Friday," a sequel to the 2003 film, "Freaky Friday," is out in theaters next week. She returns in the sequel with Jamie Lee Curtis. Curtis described the sequel on "GMA" Monday as a "four-way switch." "Lindsay's character Anna, the music producer, is engaged to be married to a young man named Eric," Curtis said. "He happens to have a 15-year-old daughter and Anna has a 15-year-old daughter named Harper. The soon-to-be sisters don't get along very well." "And Tess is still micromanaging me as a mother," Lohan added. "I'm not gonna tell you who switches with who," Curtis teased.

Jamie Lee Curtis teases 4-way switch plot twist in 'Freakier Friday'

Plus, Lindsay Lohan says her character Anna has evolved to be like Tess. After years of Jamie Lee Curtis fielding hypothetical questions about a "Freaky Friday" sequel, the star of the hit Disney movie helped make "Freakier Friday" a reality alongside her on-screen daughter and real-life friend, Lindsay Lohan. "I was determined to make it happen because everywhere in the world I go for other work, all they want to talk about is Lindsay -- and "Freaky Friday,'" Curtis said in an interview Monday on "Good Morning America,' alongside Lohan. Curtis added that she 'lobbied very hard' for the sequel, which hits theaters on Aug. 8. Curtis and Lohan first co-starred in the original movie in 2003, but their characters' mother-daughter chemistry is now stronger than ever. "When we started, it felt like it was just yesterday, because we've known each other for so long and we're friends off-screen," Lohan said. "That's the beauty of being able to make 'Freakier Friday,' you don't too often get to work with people that you genuinely love and are your friends. So it didn't feel like work as it normally did." "I've known her since she was 15. We've stayed friends all the way through her teens and her twenties," Curtis added. The unique plot twist in this movie mimics that of original, when Lohan's character Anna and Curtis' character Tess switched bodies by an unfortunate turn of fate from a fortune cookie. "It's a four-way switch," Curtis said. "Lindsay's character Anna, the music producer, is engaged to be married to a young man named Eric. He happens to have a 15-year-old daughter and Anna has a 15-year-old daughter named Harper. The soon-to-be sisters don't get along very well." "And Tess is still micromanaging me as a mother," Lohan chimed in. "I'm not gonna tell you who switches with who," Curtis teased. "Freakier Friday" premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles earlier this month and hits theaters nationwide on Aug. 8.

Anthony Anderson addresses backlash over resurfaced Lindsay Lohan interview

Anthony Anderson is voicing regret over a resurfaced Lindsay Lohan interview that's drawing backlash on social media. In a clip from a 2003 episode of "The Sharon Osbourne Show" that has spread on X in recent days, the "Black-ish" star spoke with a then 17-year-old Lohan, who told the comedian that she recently bought a place with her friend Raven-Symoné. Anderson remarked that "both of you are beautiful women" and asked, "What gentlemen will be at the new pad with you and Raven-Symoné? ... I'm just talking about parties, get togethers." Lohan said she did not have a boyfriend, leading Anderson to exclaim, "She's single, but looking!" The "Freaky Friday" star then shot back, "But I'm illegal, for people that are old." "Well, you know, some men like them young. We ain't gonna mention no names, but I'm one of them," Anderson replied, before letting out a hearty laugh. As the clip made the rounds online, a representative for Anderson, 54, addressed the remarks in a statement provided to Entertainment Weekly and People. Anthony Anderson hospitalized after on-set fight: 'Me against two goons and a chair' "This interview was clearly intended as comedy," the actor's spokesperson told the outlets. "He regrets if the humor was in poor taste and maintains the utmost respect for Lindsay. Any implication to the contrary is both inaccurate and potentially defamatory." The clip of the old interview sparked outrage on social media, with one X user replying, "I cannot believe this isn't AI. There's nooooo way he thought that 'joke' out and said this on TV." But some came to the comic's defense. "Calm down. It was cringe joke," another X user replied. Lindsay Lohan addresses plastic surgery rumors The interview resurfaced as Lohan returns to the spotlight to reunite with Jamie Lee Curtis in the highly anticipated sequel "Freakier Friday," which opens on Aug. 8. In the 2003 interview with Anderson, the actress was promoting the home video release of the original "Freaky Friday."
