Pinterest wooed Gen Zers. Will AI pins drive them away?
Loving Pinterest has long been a part of my secretly middle-aged personality. I have 16.1k pins to my name to prove it. I started my account in middle school eight years ago, and Pinterest has been a dear companion to me ever since. I used to log on every day to tuck away precious ideas and artworks into my boards, which I could take out to admire every time I needed advice, a joke, or a drawing lesson. I am not alone in this. Pinterest says that 42% of its global user base is Gen Z. 'I think Gen Z has really latched onto Pinterest as a safe platform to use, especially with so much happening around other social media platforms,' says Lois, whose Tiktok videos about Pinterest under the username dandydemon have garnered over six million views. 'Pinterest is a very atypical social media platform. It's not like Instagram, it's not like TikTok, where you're actively scrolling. It's a very personalized social media platform, and it feels almost like a journal of sorts for people.' But for many users like Lois, a worrying pattern has emerged over the past couple of years. 'There is so much AI on the platform . . . that it's hard to determine what [posts are] AI, and where it is coming from,' she says. Other people like Reddit user InterationInternal agree. 'I was looking for hair color inspo and it was all AI. I couldn't find a single human!! Then [I] typed in nail inspo, interior design – same thing. Is this platform dead?' they wrote in a thread titled 'Pinterest is 100% AI now?' R/Pinterest hosts hundreds of posts with similar complaints. Frustration over AI content and the recent mass deletion of user accounts is boiling over to the point where many users are leaving the platform for alternatives. Andy McCune, cofounder and CEO of the curation app Cosmos, says that after launching in August 2024, Cosmos has already gained millions of users. And, in the couple of days after Lois shouted out the platform as a Pinterest alternative in her a video discussing the Pinterest bans, McCune noted that Cosmos saw tens of thousands of new users join the platform. The final deadline for Fast Company's Brands That Matter Awards is this Friday, May 30, at 11:59 p.m. PT. Apply today.

First wedding held at 19th century folly Appley Tower
A beautiful and recently refurbished 19th century tower on the Isle of Wight is now available for weddings. The first wedding was held at Appley Tower in Ryde on Sunday, May 25. Paulo and Lois from Buckinghamshire were the happy couple. Celebrant Elaine Cesar said it was a "complete honour and privilege taking the ceremony for this gorgeous couple". She explained: "Lois and Paulo approached me last summer, wanting a romantic beach wedding. "Quite by coincidence, I found out that the tower was refurbished and had recently opened. "I contacted Dawn and Jenna from Monkton Arts, and they were over the moon with the idea of a wedding. "After sending photographs, Lois and Paulo were so very excited and visited their 'castle' and the deal was done! "A magical dream come true for them." Lois, previously a professional dancer, and Paulo, a Globe of Death artiste, first met in 2019 during the pantomime season in Edinburgh where they were both working on a Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Then, Covid struck and Paulo returned to Brazil, but returned five months later. In a whirlwind romance, they now have four children. Monkton Arts provided decorations at the tower, and canapes at the mini reception. Other suppliers were Roxanne Chatburn Photographer, Grace Captured Films, Wight Ribbon, Centrepiece Cake Design, Cathy's Bloomers and Isle of Wight Beauty Lynsey Marie. The couple celebrated at Appley Tower and later at Ryde Castle, and returned later in the evening to have a dip in the sea - kitted out in their wedding refinery for a magical photo shoot. General Hospital, May 28 Episode Recap: Giovanni Asks Brook Lynn's Excuse for Giving Him Up for Adoption
In the General Hospital episode, which aired on May 28, at PCPD, Willow and Drew ask Mac for help since Jason had taken Amelia from their house. Mac realizes that the kids were with their dad. He goes to Carly's house with questions he had in his mind. After returning to Crew and Willow, he talks about the court order Michael got for emergency custody until the June hearing. Because of this, there was nothing he could do. Later, Willow shows up at Carly's place and confronts Michael. She also pleads with Michael not to take away her kids from her. Michael just stands there glaring. Ned goes off on Lois In the episode, Ned calls out Lois for not filling him in on Brook Lynn's pregnancy and adoption. Olivia goes off on her as well, with Lois telling her that she did not keep Sonny in the loop on Dante's paternity. Sonny confronts Lois as well. But even after not agreeing with what Lois did, he liked the fact that she gave him an opportunity to be there for Giovanni financially, which was a way to be in Gio's life. Sonny then comforts Lois by hugging her. What did Gio, Brook Lynn, and Dante talk about? Gio seemingly tries to avoid having a chat with Dante and Brook Lynn at the Quartermaine mansion. He is stopped by them to explain their side. Dante stated that he was not aware that Brook was carrying a child. Gio asks what his birth mother's excuse was. Despite giving up the baby, Brook stated that she didn't know if she had a boy or a girl at the time. But even after her explanation, Gio still seemed to feel that he was unwanted, as after giving him up, Brook never tried to find him. Later, Dante calls out Brook for deceiving them, but she states that she was scared at the time, and once she got older and wiser, it was too late to spill the truth. Harrison arrives and comforts Brook. He also confesses that he was aware of the baby situation. Dante was upset that Chase kept this to himself and also asked how Gio got to know about this. Chase desired to take Brook up to the bed, but after Ned arrived, that plan was delayed.

Daughter who murdered her parents and kept their bodies for four years features in 'extraordinary' new documentary
Daughter who murdered her parents and kept their bodies for four years features in 'extraordinary' new documentary Ginny McCullough has spoken out for the first time in a new documentary Confessions of a Parent Killer which will air on Paramount Plus on June 12 Confessions of a Parent Killer airs on Paramount Plus on June 12 (Image: PARAMOUNT ) A new true-crime documentary, Confessions of a Parent Killer, premieres on Paramount Plus on June 12, providing an intimate look at Virginia 'Ginny' McCullough and the inquiry into her parents' murder. This film marks Ginny's first public statement about her crimes and features exclusive letters she wrote while awaiting sentencing and after her conviction. Ginny, then 35, was arrested in Great Baddow, Essex, on September 15, 2023, on suspicion of murdering her parents. She shocked police by freely confessing to the crimes, saying, "Cheer up, at least you've caught the bad guy." The bodies of Lois and John McCullough, aged 71 and 70, were discovered in sleeping bags at their residence, where they had been hidden for almost five years. Ginny was sentenced to life in prison, with a minimum term of 36 years before being considered for release, and it was revealed that she had accumulated significant debt on her parents' credit cards and continued to spend their pensions after their deaths, reports Surrey Live. According to Det Supt Rob Kirby, head of major crime at Essex Police, the case "shocked and horrified" even the force's most experienced murder detectives. In September 2023, a missing persons' inquiry was initiated after the family's general practitioner expressed concerns over the lack of contact from the couple. While her father succumbed to the lethal mixture, her mother merely fell into a sedated state due to a lesser dosage; it was then that Ginny resorted to beating her mother with a hammer and repeatedly stabbing her in the chest with a kitchen knife. The court heard how Mr McCullough's remains were concealed within a "homemade mausoleum" built from masonry blocks in his private study, and Mrs McCullough's body was discovered enshrouded in a sleeping bag within an upstairs wardrobe.
