Here's what happened: Report On Wednesday, authorities executed a sweeping operation, conducting searches at 41 properties associated with eight officials across various Karnataka districts, including Bengaluru Urban, Mysuru, Tumakuru, Kalaburagi, Koppal, and Kodagu. The collective value of illicit assets uncovered in these coordinated raids reached an estimated ₹37.42 crore, the PTI report said. BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police on Wednesday raided properties of eight officials across the state, including IAS officer Dr Vasanti Amar BV, for allegedly possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income. This is the first time in a decade that the Lokayukta police raided an IAS officer. In 2015, a senior IAS officer was raided after the case was referred by the state government following a Criminal Investigation Department and the Income Tax Department unearthing massive amounts of cash and jewellery. Vasanti Amar, Special Deputy Commissioner, Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Ltd (K-RIDE), Bengaluru, was allegedly found possessing disproportionate assets (DA) of Rs 9.02 crore. She had immovable assets of Rs 7.40 crore, comprising three sites, four houses, three acres of agricultural land and movable assets of Rs 1.62 crore, including Rs 66,390 cash, jewellery worth Rs 12 lakh, vehicles worth Rs 90 lakh and other articles worth Rs 60 lakh. She was in the news recently after a KAS officer filed a complaint against her over an alleged illegal order passed by her regarding 10 acres and 20 guntas of land in Bengaluru North when she was Special Deputy Commissioner-3. The Lokayukta police searched 41 places of seven government officials and unearthed Rs 37.41 crore, including Rs 26.36 crore in immovable properties, cash of Rs 81.89 lakh and jewellery worth Rs 4.84 crore. Of the seven officials, HV Yarappa Reddy, Executive Engineer, CV Raman Nagar Division, BBMP, was recently trapped by the Lokayukta police while allegedly accepting Rs 10 lakh bribe to clear a contractor's bill. He was found with Rs 2.62 crore, which includes movable assets of Rs 1.16 crore and immovable assets of Rs 1.45 crore. Bagli Maruti, Assistant Director, Department of Urban and Rural Planning, Bengaluru, was found with Rs 6.34 crore DA, including immovable assets of Rs 4.85 crore, comprising eight sites, five houses, 19 acres of farmland and movable assets of Rs 1.49 crore, with ornaments worth Rs 77.76 lakh and vehicles worth Rs 42 lakh.

1 2 Bengaluru: An IAS officer has come under the Lokayukta scanner after surprise raids on her house at RT Nagar and five other places across the city. The anti-corruption police action revealed properties worth Rs 9 crore, which are alleged to be disproportionate to the known sources of income of Vasanthi Amar, special deputy commissioner of K-Ride (Rail Infrastructure Development Company Karnataka), the nodal agency for implementing the Bengaluru suburban railway project. "We have seized various land documents from her and her husband's possession; these documents include various gift deeds. We have to ascertain who gave them and the relationship they share with her," a Lokayukta source said. On July 15, the govt filed an FIR at Halasur Gate police station against Vasanthi for allegedly issuing an illegal order related to a 10.2-acre land parcel in Dasanapura hobli, Bengaluru, in 2024. A few days prior to the FIR, she had got an injunction from a court refraining media from printing or circulating unconfirmed news about her. The officers raided are: Bagli Maruti, assistant director and a minister's former staff in Bengaluru (he owns assets to the tune of Rs 6.34 crore); BBMP executive engineer HV Yarappa Reddy (CV Ramanganagar); Manjunathaswamy M, joint director (Madikeri), skill development, entrepreneurship and livelihood department; B Venkataramana, office assistant (administration), Mysuru City Corporation; Rajesh M, KIADB assistant executive engineer (Tumakuru division); Sunil Kumar, executive engineer, health and family welfare office in Kalaburagi; and Sheku Chavan, assistant director, district industries centre, Koppal.

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Lokayukta has ensured compensation and rehabilitation benefits for displaced families under the Polavaram Project . Acting on complaints filed by Nallala Venkata Ramanamma and Nallala Seshagiri, the Upa-Lokayukta P. Rajani passed a common order addressing their exclusion from the project's Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) Package. Both complainants, residents of the affected area, were initially left out of the list of eligible beneficiaries. Following the intervention of the Lokayukta, the Project Administrator and Ex-officio Joint Collector, Polavaram Irrigation Project, Dowlaiswaram, submitted an action-taken report confirming that both complainants were added to the supplementary draft R&R scheme. Each was compensated with Rs. 6.36 lakh and Rs. 25,000, along with allotted house site plots. The Karnataka Lokayukta on Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids at the residences of three government officials in Bengaluru over allegations of amassing disproportionate assets and involvement in illegal land raids were carried out at the homes of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Vasanthi Amar, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Executive Engineer Errappa Reddy, and Town Planning Assistant Director Bagli Maruthi. The operation was led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Vamshikrishna, with searches ongoing in localities including RT to sources, all three officials are suspected of having accumulated assets beyond their known sources of income. In addition, they are being investigated for the illegal transfer of government land. Errappa Reddy was recently caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh, which has further intensified scrutiny on his financial dealings. The Lokayukta is continuing its investigation and is expected to examine documents and property records seized during the raids are part of a broader and sustained crackdown by the Karnataka Lokayukta in recent months. In June 2025, the anti-corruption agency conducted extensive searches at 45 locations across the state, seizing assets worth over Rs 34.90 crore from eight government officials accused of possessing disproportionate wealth. The coordinated operation was carried out in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Kalaburagi, Dharwad, Hassan, Gadag, Shivamogga, and Lokayukta had conducted a similar raid in April against a government engineer in Ballari; assets worth over Rs 8 crore were recovered, including luxury cars, properties and gold in that March, too, Karnataka Lokayukta Police conducted raids across the state in connection with disproportionate assets cases against eight government officers.
