Former Longhorn Scottie Scheffler joins Tiger Woods as only repeat winners at Memorial

Former Longhorn Scottie Scheffler joins Tiger Woods as only repeat winners at Memorial Scottie Scheffler is dominating pro golf. The Texas Longhorns golf alum, fresh off winning the PGA Championship two weeks ago, has become only the second repeat winner at the Memorial. Only Tiger Woods, who won three times in a row (1999-2001) had repeated at the tournament in Dublin, Ohio is hosted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus. Scheffler surged to the lead at Muirfield Village on Saturday and held on with his trademark machine-like efficiency on Sunday. After celebrating the win on the 18th green, Scheffler was embraced by Nicklaus, sitting greenside. Nicklaus exclaimed, "Well, you did it again." The Dallas native was the only player to break par all four days. He now has three wins on tour this year, which includes his third major championship at Quail Hollow. His season started slow after cutting his hand over the holidays severe enough that it needed surgery. The former "ESPN GameDay" guest picker will play next in two weeks in the U.S. Open at Oakmont. Former Texas star DeMarvion Overshown teams with Jerry Jones' grandson for Cowboys' No. 0

Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarvion Overshown revealed this week how he landed the coveted No. 0 jersey, crediting a key assist from an unexpected source: team owner Jerry Jones' grandson, Paxton Anderson. Overshown, speaking to reporters at the Cowboys' facility, said he reached out to Anderson to help advocate for his jersey switch. 'I called Paxton and told him I needed his help to push it over the edge,' Overshown said, smiling. 'He made sure the right people heard about it.' Advertisement Jones' grandson, Paxton Anderson, joined the Texas Longhorns as a Division I wide receiver in 2020 after a standout high school career at Highland Park and was teammates with DeMarvion Overshown during his time in Austin. Anderson was part of the Longhorns' roster through the 2023 season and graduated in 2024. The NFL began allowing players to wear No. 0 last season, making it a popular choice among players seeking a fresh start or a unique identity. Overshown, who missed his rookie campaign with a knee injury, said the number represents a new chapter as he returns to the field. Many Dallas Cowboys fans believed that owner Jerry Jones and the team's marketing department were holding the No. 0 jersey in reserve to avoid confusion with the double-zero '00' worn by mascot Rowdy in promotional materials and appearances. However, as Patrik Walker of reports, 'that was never actually true." While Jones initially referred to No. 0 as 'Rowdy's number' and declined DeMarvion Overshown's request to wear it last season, the real reason for the delay was not to protect the mascot's branding, but rather due to other internal considerations—such as evaluating which player would be the right fit for the never-before used new number. Rowdy continues to wear '00,' a number not available to NFL players, while Overshown has now made history as the first Cowboys player to don No. 0. Overshown, a third-round pick out of Texas in 2024, is expected to compete for a significant role in the Cowboys' defense this season. He missed his entire rookie year due to a torn ACL. Overhshown previously dawned No. 13, for the Cowboys, coming out making an electric debut in week 1 last season. The former Longhorn tallied up 11 tackles, two QB hits, a tackle for loss and, a sack against the Cleveland Browns. Longhorn women's basketball loses talented guard in the transfer portal Following a career year, Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda has found a new home Former Longhorn guard Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda has found a new home after a career year. The South Dakota native committed to Vanderbilt after entering the transfer portal. She will take her talents to SEC rival Vanderbilt as she looks to build on her Junior campaign. In her final season as a Longhorn, Mwenentanda averaged 5.6 points and 2.9 points a game. She saw an increase in playing time and scored in double-figures in eight games. Her best game came in the second round of the NCAA tournament against Illinois when she scored a career-high 19 points. As Mwenentanda prepares for a new chapter, she leaves a memorable legacy in Austin. She appeared in 103 games for the Longhorns, earning 18 starts and scoring 470 total points. With her in the mix, Texas was able to advance to the Final Four for the first time in over 20 years last season. Mwenentanda will join a Vanderbilt team coming off a 22-11 2024-2025 campaign. The Commodores were able to make it to the NCAA Tournament, where the Oregon Ducks eliminated them in the first round. With a more experienced roster, they hope to make a deeper playoff run this upcoming season. That is where Mwenentanda comes in. She knows what it takes to win at a high level and in a competitive conference. With Mwenentanda on the roster, Vanderbilt has another experienced veteran to turn to. If Mwenentanda can build on her success from last year, then the Commodores will be in good hands.

Longhorns projected to land son of former Super Bowl champion

Longhorns projected to land son of former Super Bowl champion Longhorns connected to Kaydon Finley As the Longhorns look to add to their 2026 class, they have been connected to a name some may be familiar with. On3's Joseph Cook logged a prediction for Texas to land wide receiver Kaydon Finley, the son of former NFL tight end Jermichael Finley. The four-star prospect is ranked as the 18th-best wide receiver in his class. While Finley would provide the Longhorns offense with a boost, they are not the only program in the mix. He has also received offers from Notre Dame, Arizona State, Louisville, and Texas A&M. Finley will be busy touring the country in June with visits to Texas, Notre Dame, Texas A&M. Although several programs are still in the mix, Finley does have a family connection to Texas. His father was a Longhorn from 2006-07 before the Green Bay Packers selected him in the NFL Draft. He then went on to win a Super Bowl with Green Bay in 2010. Over the last few weeks, the Longhorns have been busy when it comes to the 2026 class. They are still in the running for Richard Wesley and Grayson McKeogh, who announced they will be in Austin in June for official visits. The Longhorns hope to add them to a group that includes five-star quarterback Dia Bell. With just a few weeks until Finley's visit, the Longhorns have plenty of time to prepare. He has the potential to be a future star and would be a great weapon to pair with Bell. The Longhorns main competition is Notre Dame who Finley has had glowing reviews of. If the Longhorns can make Cooks' prediction come true, then the offense will be hard to stop.
