Create Account Trang Pham of Mississauga is adding another $250,000 to her back account after winning the top prize with the Instant Golden Multiplier scratch ticket game. Yes, another. Pham was also the winner of a $60-million Lotto Max jackpot earlier this year, which she split with four of her former co-workers. The retiree has been playing the lottery with OLG since she could legally purchase a ticket and January's win hasn't stopped her from buying more. 'I was shopping at an outlet mall and got thirsty, so I stopped at a nearby gas station to grab a bottle of water,' Pham recounted while collecting her latest winnings at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. 'While I was there, I ended up buying a couple of tickets.' Read More This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. Pham didn't scratch her ticket until the following day while sitting in her car. 'I uncovered the top prize and realized it was a winning ticket,' she said. 'Then I scanned it using the OLG app on my phone — and there it was: $250,000! I was so happy and excited.' She called her husband, who was 'surprise and overjoyed' to learn of her latest win, as well as a few friends who were 'shocked but thrilled' for the lucky lady. It was also Pham's idea to buy the eventual winning ticket for the Jan. 21 Lotto Max draw in honour of the traditions of the Lunar New Year. RECOMMENDED VIDEO She heard on the news that the winning ticket was sold in Etobicoke, checked it and realized it was theirs. 'When I saw $60 million on the screen, I was in total shock,' she said of confirming the numbers on the OLG app at the time. 'I took a screenshot and sent it to the group chat right away.' That's when Pham's phone started 'blowing up.' After the Lotto Max win, Pham said she wanted to buy a home and invest some of the winnings, while also sharing it with her parents. With her latest win, she plans to pay bills and indulge in some well-deserved travel. As for winning the lottery twice, Pham called it 'unbelievable.' She added: 'It feels like I was struck by lightning twice in one year. You have to give yourself a smack just to make sure it's real!' Celebrity Toronto & GTA Columnists Editorial Cartoons NFL

$1 bet leads to $100,000 win for Hilton Beach resident
Valerie Adcock, a sales representative and mother of two, from Hilton Beach, Ont., won $100,000 with Encore on the April 29, 2025, Lotto Max draw. (Supplied/Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation) Valerie Adcock of Hilton Beach, Ont., is $100,000 richer after a lucky $1 Encore bet paid off in a major way. The longtime lottery player matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the April 29 Lotto Max draw, turning a small wager into a six-figure windfall. Adcock, a sales representative and mother of two, has played lottery games for decades, she said, often switching between choosing her own numbers and using the quick pick option. But this win – her first major prize – she told the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), has left her stunned. 'It was just mind-boggling' 'I scanned my ticket using the store's ticket checker and saw the prize amount appear on the screen,' Adcock said during her visit to the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her winnings. 'It was just mind-boggling to see that amount! I turned to the clerk and whispered, 'I think I won.' He didn't hear me at first, so I said it again – and his eyes grew wide with shock.' In her excitement, she said she rushed to call her husband. 'I was dying to share the news with him and couldn't even wait until I got home,' said Adcock. 'I ran straight to the parking lot, grabbed my phone and with shaking hands, I dialed his number.' Her husband and children were the first to know – and their joy mirrored hers. 'I can't even begin to describe how excited they are for me,' she said. A dream come true Adcock admitted to OLG representatives that the win still felt surreal. 'It was quite surprising and hasn't really sunk in yet,' she said. 'I've always dreamed of winning the lottery, but never actually thought it would happen to me. I'm living proof that winning is possible. It can happen to anyone.' Now, she plans to use the money wisely, saving for retirement and donating a portion to help others. 'I want to spread this blessing,' she said. 'Night after night, I dreamed of this moment – and now, my dream has finally come true. In moments like this, I realize just how good life can be.' — $100,000 lottery winner Valerie Adcock, reflecting on her win. Encore, which offers 22 ways to win, can be added to most lottery games for a dollar, with draws held twice daily. More details on the game can be found on OLG's official website. The winning ticket was purchased at Hilton Beach General Store on Mark Street in Hilton Beach. Play responsibly 'OLG supports safe play and wants to keep the fun in the game,' said OLG on its website. 'That's why OLG is proud to be a leader in promoting responsible gambling with our globally recognized Playsmart program.' Playsmart offers information on gambling games.
