LDA announces jogging track, otheramenities at Gomti Riverfront

Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will construct a 500-metre jogging track at Morpankhi Lawn near Marine Drive as part of new development works planned for the Gomti Riverfront. The decision was taken after LDA vice-chairman Prathmesh Kumar conducted a survey of Gomti Riverfront and nearby locations on Saturday. The project, covering a 380-metre stretch between ADCP office and Pipraghat, includes a jogging track, open gym, yoga hut, gazebo, improved lighting, and a new toilet block at a cost of about Rs 28 lakh near the CO office on Marine Drive in Gomtinagar. "We are increasing recreational facilities and improving public access to the riverfront. Five new entry and exit points will be created between Lohia Setu and the ADCP office to make the area more accessible to visitors," he said. tnn He added that the work would use around Rs 11 crore from infrastructural fund for development, horticulture, electrification, and maintenance work. Meanwhile, LDA officials also acted against unauthorised occupation of public land near Gomtinagar Extension on Saturday. The authority demolished encroachments, including a private cricket academy, from about 15 acres of LDA land near G20 road. After site inspection, Kumar directed officials to clear the land and asked for a survey of all encroachments on the land.

LDA bylaws for compounding to benefit many

Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will now allow approval of compounding maps under the newly implemented Model Building Construction and Development Bylaws and Model Zoning Regulation-2025. Compounding is a process to make buildings legal if they were built without approval or in violation of the original plans. This move would benefit property owners who undertook construction earlier by allowing them to regularise their buildings under the new rules. LDA vice chairperson Prathamesh Kumar issued this directive during a Janata Adalat held at the authority's headquarters. Zonal officers have been assigned specific targets for mitigation map approvals—ranging from 75 to 220 maps per zone—to streamline the process and avoid delays. The new regulations increase the permissible land coverage and FAR (Floor Area Ratio). The VC emphasised the need to prioritise mitigation approvals in the public interest.

LDA starts 1st phase of Gomti biodiversity park

Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) kicked off the first phase of the Gomti Bio-Diversity Park, which is set to be completed within a year. Divisional Commissioner Roshan Jacob inaugurated the project on Friday by planting saplings at the site. Other officials also took part in the plantation drive. LDA vice-president Prathamesh Kumar said 75 acres of green belt land, previously leased to the Sahara group, was reclaimed. In the first phase, 25 acres will be developed at a cost of ₹14 crore, with guidance from experts behind Delhi's Yamuna Bio-Diversity Park. Located between Dayal Paradise Intersection and Janeshwar Mishra Park Gate No. 5, the park will feature a boundary wall, parking area, entry gate, office, walking tracks, children's play area and a watchtower. Endangered plant species from the Gomti river basin will be preserved. To encourage the arrival of native and migratory birds, a variety of grasses, shrubs, and trees will be planted. The park will also house a fruit orchard, a medicinal plant section, and a butterfly garden. A Natural Interpretation Centre (NIC) is also planned, where field biologists will educate students about local biodiversity. The aim is to make the park a hub for eco-tourism and learning. District magistrate Vishak G and LDA decretary Vivek Srivastava were present.

LDA to develop industrial township along Agra e-way

Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will develop an industrial township along the Agra Expressway for which it held a meeting with farmers at Dona village in Kakori on Friday. The meeting, attended by village heads and district panchayat members from 12 identified villages, focused on land acquisition. LDA joint secretary Sushil Pratap Singh said the industrial township will be developed over 5,610 acres in Sadar and Sarojininagar tehsils, covering villages like Bhalia, Adampur Indwara, Bahru, Jaliyamau, Madarpur, Ibrahimganj, Naktaura, Gehalwara, Tejkrishna Khera, Rewari, Sakra and Dona. The plan includes residential facilities for over 2 lakh people and is expected to boost investment and create largescale employment in the industrial, health, education and logistics sectors. Farmers raised demands for infrastructure such as internal roads, drainage, health centres, schools, parks, cremation grounds and water bodies, which LDA agreed to consider. Concerns over land record errors and illegal plotting by some property dealers were also addressed, with officials assuring corrective measures and action through joint teams. The plan is being finalised under the Chief Minister Urban Expansion Scheme, and LDA is engaging directly with villagers to ensure smooth implementation.
