The competition, described as padel's equivalent of golf's Ryder Cup or tennis's Laver Cup, will feature an Americas versus Europe team format, adding a new dimension to the sport's global calendar as it continues its rapid international expansion. "Hosting the FIP Intercontinental Cup in London is a landmark moment for the international expansion of professional padel," said Luigi Carraro, President of the International Padel Federation. "London has hosted some of the most iconic moments in sporting history – and now, professional padel will become part of that legacy as we expand globally and drive toward Olympic inclusion." Details on the London venue for the July 25-27 event will follow, organisers said. Padel — a doubles racket sport fusing tennis and squash on enclosed courts — is surging globally with an estimated almost 30 million players across 130 countries.

The collaboration will focus on the following key areas: Injury and illness observation: This will focus on injury patterns, common health concerns, and assess potential gender-related differences in injury rates across both the Premier Padel and FIP CUPRA Tour's Measuring and quantifying physiological demands of professional padel: Leading efforts to analyse the physiological demands of professional players by using state of the art and non-intrusive technology. Comparative insights of professional padel vs other racket sports: Partnership will include a study which evaluates the competitive demands of professional padel in comparison to other racket sports including tennis, badminton and squash.
