Beautiful forest has views like nowhere else in Wales but there's a catch
Just a 10‑minute drive from junction 28 of the M4 is a serene trip through the heart of a forest. Cwmcarn Forest originally opened in 1972 on the site of a former coal colliery and has undergone several phases of redevelopment. There's now a visitor centre with café, shop, offices, a glamping site, lakeside landscaping, and new footpaths which were all part of a £2m investment from the Welsh Government. Since reopening in 2021 visitor numbers have surged, according to their website, with the drive being especially popular during weekends and school holidays. But there's a crucial catch as entry is charged per vehicle which is currently £5 for motorbikes, £10 for cars, and more for larger vehicles. The full price and timing info is available on the visitor information page online. And if you're wondering why you might not have heard about it before this makes sense as it's still relatively new after the forest was closed for six years from 2015 to remove around 150,000 larch trees infected by the fungus phytophthora ramorum. This was essential to prevent the disease spreading and causing wider issues and David Letellier of NRW described it as "an environmental crisis that was very challenging to deal with but also had massive cost implications and we had to move very very fast indeed".

Afghanistan Invites Americans For A 'Vacation' In Bizarre Video With Hostage Twist
The 50-second clip begins with what appears to be a hostage scene: three people kneeling with bags over their heads. A new promotional video circulating on Taliban-linked social media accounts attempted to rebrand Afghanistan as a tourist destination, inviting Americans to visit. The 50-second clip begins with what appears to be a hostage scene: three people kneeling with bags over their heads and surrounded by armed grim-faced men. One looks into the camera and says, 'We have one message for America." Moments later, the bag is pulled off one man's head and the tone abruptly shifts. He smiles, gives a thumbs-up, and says, 'Welcome to Afghanistan!" What follows is a bizarre montage of scenes: a man uses a tank's barrel for chin-ups, another treads water while holding a machine gun, tourists dine alongside parrots, pose in front of waterfalls and inspect menus on tablets. A smiling man even shows off a US government-issued M4 rifle as a laughing voice remarks, 'It's not even on safety." Ross Thomson, CEO of global crisis evacuation firm Covac Global, said the video is dangerously misleading. 'Afghanistan is only for very advanced travelers- those who fully understand the risks," Ross Thomson told The Independent, adding, 'It may appear less volatile than a few years ago, but underneath that calm is a complex, fragile, and highly dangerous environment. Remember, you are technically a guest of the Taliban. Not long ago, that status alone would've gotten you kidnapped." Apple Vision Pro update is coming, here's when and what will change
Apple is reportedly readying a slight update to its Vision Pro headset, and this will become available "as early as this year". While it won't be a major upgrade, it will sport a new chipset, the M4, which will be quite an improvement from the M2 powering the original Vision Pro. It will also get more cores for its Neural Engine. The new headset will ship with a new strap that will make wearing it for longer periods of time more bearable somehow, by reducing neck strain and head pain. This should improve things without actually making the hardware any lighter. That will only come in 2027 with a redesigned Vision Pro, which should be significantly lighter. Until then, the model coming this year is meant as a stopgap, keeping Apple relevant in the headset market despite its huge price and comfort issues (that may be alleviated somewhat in the upgraded model). So far Apple has only sold a few hundred thousand units of the Vision Pro, which is a tiny number for a device that was supposed to be the future of computing. It is, however, hard to be that when you're a literal strain on people's heads and necks, not to mention their wallets. Source

MacBook Air Is Now 2x Cheaper Than a MacBook Pro, Amazon Clears Out Stock Fast
Apple is famous for rarely offering discounts on its products – and especially the latest models. If you want to save money on a new Apple device, the best way is to go through a retailer like Amazon which is often the only place to find real price drops (sometimes even without Apple's direct approval). That's exactly what's happening right now with the new 2025 MacBook Air, released in March. The 256GB version launched at $999 but for Prime Day, Amazon has dropped the price to $849. This is not only the lowest price ever for this model, but it's also half the price of the least expensive MacBook Pro which starts at $1,699 See at Amazon This 2025 13-inch MacBook Air comes loaded with Apple's M4 chip which is designed for speed and efficiency. The M4 brings a noticeable boost in performance, whether you're working across multiple apps or playing demanding games. With 16GB of unified memory and a 256GB SSD, the laptop on sale at Amazon is ready to cut through everyday work and more complex workflows. The 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display boasts a billion colors that make images and video look rich and detailed and text clear and readable. It's a screen created for both productivity and entertainment. Battery life is also one of the huge advantages of this MacBook Air: You get 18 hours on one battery so you can work or play all day long without having to worry about finding a charger. The ultra-portable dimensions mean you can take it with you anywhere and at under three pounds, you will not even notice that you are carrying it in your bag. Apple has also focused on security and privacy such as Touch ID for easy logins and Apple Intelligence, the new system that is built into the device and offers privacy protection so strong that even Apple itself can't view your data. The 2025 MacBook Air features a 12MP Center Stage camera so you're always in frame during video calls, and a three-microphone, four-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio. You'll be one stunning visual and audio package in each meeting, FaceTime call or online lecture. The computer comes with two Thunderbolt 4 ports, a MagSafe port, a headphone jack, Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3 which means you can easily connect your accessories and devices. The computer also supports two external displays which makes it a great option if you work better in a home office or creative space.
