Kevin Feige Sets Sky-High Expectations for THE FANTASTIC FOUR
Marvel fans tend to get excited whenever Kevin Feige opens his mouth about an upcoming project, and now he's talking about The Fantastic Four: First Steps , and hyping it up. In a recent chat with Empire, Feige made it clear that this film isn't just another chapter in the MCU. It's something much bigger. 'I think that there are no four characters that are more important for the history of Marvel. When Disney bought Fox, it was really an unexpected dream come true. 'It came at the perfect time to help us launch into a new era. They are Marvel's First Family, and I really wanted to do them justice.' Feige himself helped produce the 2005 and 2007 versions of fantastic four, and while they had their moments, they never quite captured what made the characters iconic. This time, the training wheels are off. 'There was still a bit of fear of being silly,' Feige admitted. Marvel's early attempts at the Fantastic Four held back, maybe worried audiences wouldn't buy into stretchy limbs or rock-skinned heroes. But the MCU has since normalized the craziness of Marvel. Now, it's ready to embrace the cosmic weirdness the Fantastic Four deserve. If you were worried the new film would play it safe, Feige put that to rest with a Galactus-sized tease: 'In another time, some might consider the notion of somebody with a big, angular helmet walking through a city goofy. I consider it awesome.' I love that Feige isn't interested in toning Galactus down and that he's just going to go all in with the villain. It looks like they're leaning into the craziness of their story and I hope that the movie gives all of these character same kind of narrative weight that Marvel deliverd with their earliert films. I remember during the high of Marvel Studios, fans we're like, 'Give The Fantastic Four back to Marvel so they could make a great movie!' Well, here we are, and I hope Marvel succeeds in making fans happy! Director Matt Shakman recently described the film's visual approach as 'a blend of Jack Kirby's vibrant artistry and Stanley Kubrick's epic, otherworldly vision.' That gives us a pretty good idea of the creative ambition behind this thing. It's cosmic, it's colorful, and it's daring in a way that feels like a fresh jolt to the Marvel formula. 'Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, The Fantastic Four: First Steps introduces Marvel's First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing—as they face their most daunting challenge yet. 'Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus' plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren't bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.' Directed by WandaVision 's Matt Shakman, the film boasts a high-profile cast led by Pedro Pascal (Reed), Vanessa Kirby (Sue), Joseph Quinn (Johnny), and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Ben), with a supporting lineup that includes John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, Paul Walter Hauser, and Sarah Niles in yet-to-be-revealed roles. The script was originally written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, it was revised by Cameron Squires and Avatar: The Way of Water co-writer Josh Friedman, with Eric Pearson ( Thor: Ragnarok, Black Widow ) giving it the final pass. The movie is set to be released on July 25th.

Chris Hemsworth Shares Tribute Video Titled "Thank You! The Legacy of Thor" in Possible Farewell to His Marvel Character — GeekTyrant
Chris Hemsworth has been playing Thor, the mighty God of Thunder, for over a decade. He hasn't been killed or chosen to change up timelines like many of his fellow Avengers, but with all the changes of the MCU, not to mention the upkeep it takes to maintain the Thor physique, it would make sense if Hemsworth was winding down his reign. We haven't heard anything pointing to that outcome officially, but the actor just shared a tribute video all about his time playing the character, and it does seem like a fitting farewell. The video came with the following note: Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life. For the last 15 years I've held Mjolnir and then Stormbreaker as the God of Thunder, but what made it truly special… was sharing it with all of you. Your passion, your cheers, and your love for this character have meant everything to me. Thank you for making my journey through the Marvel Cinematic Universe unforgettable.. Next up, Doomsday! We already knew Hemsworth was going to be returning for Avengers: Doomsday , as he was included in the announcement lineup, but could this mean the end of Thor? If so, I would understand, but I would also wish they'd have saved the tribute for after the movie. Either way, it's a fun little watch. Check out the video below, and enjoy:

Nicole Kidman Rumored to Be Up For Villainous Role in Marvel's SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY — GeekTyrant
Actress Nicole Kidman is no stranger to the comic book genre of film, as she played Aquaman's mom, Atlanna, in the Jason Momoa-led DC films. However, Kidman has not made her MCU debut, and that may be about to change. According to a new rumor from industry insider MTTSH, Kidman is being eyed to play the female villain in the upcoming sequel Spider-Man: Brand New Day . It was previously reported Marvel was casting for a 'dark, mysterious female character' with a Japanese-inspired look. This doesn't sound like Kidman, but getting such a talented actress would be a win, so the look could probably be adjusted. This is just a rumor for now, so we will just have to wait and see if it pans out. It's also a rumor that Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk could also have a co-starring role in the film. The film is set to star returning cast members Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Zendaya as MJ, and Jacob Batalon as Ned, along with newcomers Sadie Sink ( Stranger Things ) and Liza Colón-Zayas ( The Bear ). Spider-Man: Brand New Day hits theaters on July 31, 2026.

X-Men: Bryan Cranston Allegedly Eyed to be the New Charles Xavier
Rumors were flying around that Marvel may have wanted a POC to play the part of the new Charlie Xavier for the MCU, but it's possible they could be sticking to keeping him Caucasian. According to @MyTimeToShineH, Marvel is allegedly looking at Bryan Cranston ( Breaking Bad ) to be the new leader of the X-Men. We already know he can play the bald look, but it's curious exactly what kind of Xavier he can deliver, seeing that he can either be ridiculously evil or all-around goofy. Admittedly, we have to take this news with a grain of salt, seeing that MTTSH has had missteps in the past, but they've also reported some true things as well. Personally, I was in the camp that wanted to revamp the origins of Professor X and Magneto so that they better exemplified more recent issues on discrimination. A popular fancast was for Giancarlo Esposito (surprisingly also in Breaking Bad ) to be Xavier and Denzel Washington to be the new Magneto—with Magneto's origin of being a holocaust survivor being switched to him surviving another kind of race war. There are some who think that changing Magneto's origin is a delicate matter, but there are some who believe that, to stay relevant, his origin could be changed so that the core issue is still discrimination—which was also at the heart of his holocaust survivor story. I mean, if they wanted Magneto to be alive around that time, he would have to be incredibly old in the 2020s; and you can only go so far with the 'his powers stop his aging' or 'he's a time-traveller' storyline. Then again, I am just spit-balling here. For now, we have no idea when the proper X-Men reboot is going to be, but fans are expecting it after the events of Avengers: Secret Wars which comes out in 2027.

Everything Released In The Gap Between ‘Stranger Things' Seasons 4 And 5
Stranger Things Stranger Things season 5 will finally arrive later this year, albeit halfway through 2025 now, we still don't have an exact date. We have now waited over three years between seasons, even as Netflix said that the series was a 'priority' for them following previous strikes. Other big shows with huge waits such as Squid Game and Wednesday, will both be out before it will. Stranger Things season 4 was released on May 27 of 2022. I saw a post that said that the entire series of The Bear has aired between now and then (and season 4 is coming in a month). That got me thinking about what else has happened in the entertainment industry between seasons 4 and 5 in this absurdly long streaming season gap era. Shows: Wednesday, House of the Dragon (both seasons), The Last of Us (both seasons), The Penguin, Shogun, The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power (both seasons), The Bear (all seasons) House of the Dragon Movies: Top Gun Maverick, The Batman, Avatar: The Way of Water, Everything Everywhere All At Once, Jurassic World: Dominion, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and 3, Barbenheimer The Batman Games: Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarök, Tears of the Kingdom, Baldur's Gate 3, Sifu, Immortality, Starfield, Final Fantasy XVI, Hogwarts Legacy Horizon Forbidden West Nine MCU Movies: Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther, Wakanda Forever, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Marvels, Deadpool and Wolverine, Captain America Brave New World, Thunderbolts and imminently, The Fantastic Four. Nine MCU Shows: Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Loki (season 2), What If…? (season 2), Echo, Agatha All Along, Daredevil: Born Again, Ironheart (imminent) She Hulk Four DCEU Movies: Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, The Flash and Blue Beetle, and the transfer to the DCU and James Gunn with Superman Eight Star Wars Shows: Andor (seasons 1 and 2), The Mandalorian (season 2), The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ahsoka, Tales of the Jedi (season 2), The Acolyte, Skeleton Crew (no Star Wars movies, however, with Disney abandoning those for years). You get the idea. We are going to be pushing three and a half years between Stranger Things seasons, which allegedly come out in 2025, but with no confirmed date yet, it might get pushed, and even if not, it may be broken into parts where one of those potentially airing in 2026. At this point, it will almost be a relief to see it end, and Netflix had better issue an hour-long 'previously on' recap video. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram.
