MIL, AVNL granted Miniratna status after Operation Sindoor
Nagpur: Soon after Operation Sindoor, two key defence public sector undertakings (DPSUs), formed out of the ordnance factories three years ago, have been granted Miniratna status. The order by the ministry of defence classifies Pune-based Munitions India Limited (MIL) and Chennai-headquartered Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL) as Miniratna category-1 PSUs. PSUs are classified as Maharatna, Navratna, and Miniratna based on their importance and performance. Miniratnas are further divided into Category-I and II PSUs. MIL is engaged in making a whole gamut of ammunition and has units in Chandrapur and Bhandara in the region. Considering the exigency, the leaves of employees in MIL's Chandrapur and Khamaria (Madhya Pradesh) factories had been cancelled during Operation Sindoor. MIL also received substantial export orders recently. One of the highest-selling items was the 155 mm shell used in Bofors-like howitzers. AVNL is engaged in making battle tanks. With its flagship unit located at Avadi near Chennai, it also has a key facility making military vehicles at Jabalpur. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 오늘 신차장기렌트 가장 저렴한 견적서 딱 20장만 뽑아드립니다. 허위견적200%환불보상 더 알아보기 Undo The Vehicle Factory Jabalpur (VFJ) is one of the oldest units of the ordnance factory organisation. Lately, it started a project to revive the old Jonga jeep used by the army in the 1960s and 1970s. The ordnance factories were corporatised in 2021 as part of measures to improve their efficiency. As a PSU, the factories have to achieve financial self-sufficiency. Seven PSUs, including Yantra India Limited (YIL), which has its headquarters in Nagpur, were made out of the 41 ordnance factories.

Mom Asks Brother-in-Law to Change Her Toddler's Diaper, and She's Shocked When He Says No
A man says he was shocked when his sister-in-law requested that he change her baby's diaper — while she was in the room The man writes on Reddit that his sister-in-law often asks for odd favors when it comes to her child, but thinks this time went too far He told the woman that he wasn't comfortable changing her child's daughter – and now the Internet is weighing inA man says his sister-in-law requested that he change her baby's diaper — and he said no. In a post shared on Reddit, the man writes that his wife's sister and her husband had a baby two years again and, since then, have a tendency to "ask for people to do stuff that I would think they'd do themselves." "They'll come over our house (they live an hour away) and they'll ask ahead of time if we have their kid's favorite crackers on hand," he writes as an example. And, when one of them leaves the room, they often ask others to be "in charge" of the baby, "even if the other parent is right there, just scrolling on their phone or something," he adds. "The other day, we're having a dinner at MIL's house when the baby had a poopy diaper. SIL looks at me and say in the sweetest voice 'Uncle (my name), can you change the diaper?' " he writes. He continues: "I answered, politely, 'No, I'm sorry, I don't do that.' " When the woman asked why, the man responded, "I don't do other people's kid's diapers if their mom or dad is around. I mean if I'm babysitting, sure thing, but yea - if the parents are around - I just feel like it's their job," he writes. When the sister-in-law said he was making her feel "selfish," he responded: "Not trying to make you feel any way, just telling you a boundary is all." "The table got really awkward as she got up and did the diaper. Afterwards my wife blamed me for making SIL feel bad and said I could've just changed the diaper," he writes. Other Reddit users are weighing in on the situation, with many expressing shock that the sister-in-law asked in the first place. "She should've done it herself then," wrote one commenter, adding that the man was "WAY nicer than I would've been. Read the original article on People

Woman Vows to Never Host Mother's Day After Mother-in-Law Refuses to Attend Birthday Party She Spent Days Preparing for
After spending days preparing a birthday celebration, a woman's mother-in-law refused to attend over a perceived slight Feeling hurt and unappreciated, the woman told her husband she would no longer host events for his mother With Mother's Day approaching, her firm stance on boundaries is straining their marriageA woman is seeking support from the Reddit community after a difficult decision regarding her mother-in-law led to conflict in her marriage. In her post, she details the ongoing tension with her husband's family, particularly his mother, and how it has affected their plans for Mother's Day. She explains that she and her husband have been together for eight years, and while she gets along well with most of his family, her relationship with her mother-in-law has always been 'rocky.' 'That being said, I get along with his family very well and share my husband's love of hosting parties and gatherings,' she writes, highlighting her efforts to be a part of family traditions. Recently, drama erupted after one of her sisters-in-law began distancing herself from the rest of the family, claiming she felt excluded. The woman recalls, 'A couple months ago for MIL's birthday, my husband had sent out a text to the family chat to invite everyone over,' describing how all family celebrations are typically potluck-style, with the host family doing most of the work. Despite being included in the group chat, the sister-in-law complained to their mother that she hadn't received a formal invitation, saying she would feel 'like an intruder' if she attended. The mother-in-law then called her son, insisting he call his sister to apologize and invite her personally, but he declined, explaining, 'she's in the chat and no one else received anything 'formal' and she was welcome like everyone else.' On the day of the birthday celebration, the woman says she did the majority of the preparations, only to be disappointed when her mother-in-law didn't show up. 'She told another SIL she would not be sharing a meal with someone who blatantly excluded one of her children,' she writes, adding that the rest of the family chose to enjoy the gathering anyway. After everyone left, her husband apologized for his mother's absence and thanked her for her hard work, but the experience left her heartbroken. 'Why would MIL not think about the effort that was made?' she writes, sharing how much the situation hurt her. She calmly told her husband that they would no longer be hosting celebrations for his mother at their home, and he agreed at the time. However, when he later suggested inviting the family over for Mother's Day, she immediately refused, explaining, 'SIL is still behaving the same, MIL never apologized for what she did, and I refuse to have a redo.' Her husband tried to argue that Mother's Day was different from his mom's birthday, but she stood firm, clarifying, 'anything to do with celebrating his mom is now off the table.' She said she was still willing to go out to dinner or bring something store-bought to another family member's house, but she would no longer spend hours preparing for his mother. Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. When her husband asked how long this new boundary would last, she told him it would be permanent. He pressed her on whether she had forgiven his mother, and she replied that she had, but these were her new boundaries. He accused her of harboring resentment and making the situation into a bigger problem, but ultimately agreed they would not host for Mother's Day, though he felt she was being 'petty.' Reflecting on the conversation, she admits, 'I might be, but the more I think about it, the more I feel like I'm not wrong for this boundary.' Commenters generally have the poster's back. "Both MIL and SIL sound rude and childish - the apple didn't fall far from the tree there," one writes. "You made it clear to your husband about your boundary for your hosting future events for MIL and he is now back-pedalling. If he wants to host, he can do it elsewhere or one of the other 4 siblings can step up. If SIL wants to be included, why can't she host? The whole family just sounds exhausting." Adds another, "Tell him if your MIL is coming over, he can do all the cleaning, shopping, and food prep for the occasion, but you won't be putting in that effort for someone who doesn't appreciate it. My guess is he'll nope right out of that idea." Read the original article on People

UNESCO marks World Press Freedom Day: Reporting in Brave New World
by Naharnet Newsdesk 06 May 2025, 11:33 Under the global theme 'Reporting in the Brave New World: The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Press Freedom and the Media', UNESCO marked on Monday World Press Freedom Day 2025 with a celebration, held under the patronage of Dr. Paul Morcos, Minister of Information. The event brought together media professionals, technology and AI experts, government representatives, civil society actors, and young journalists to reflect on the evolving relationship between technology and media in an era shaped by artificial intelligence. The celebration began with opening remarks from Ms. Costanza Farina, Director of UNESCO Beirut Office, and Minister Morcos. Both emphasized the critical importance of safeguarding the fundamental right to freedom of expression while also recognizing the transformative potential of AI for the media sector. 'Press freedom is not a privilege; it is a right that must be preserved with vigilance. In this age of innovation and artificial intelligence, it is imperative that journalism and technology evolve together, upholding the principles of truth, democracy, and human dignity. In this context, we reaffirm our commitment to working closely with UNESCO to promote the rights of journalists, safeguard our audiovisual heritage, and combat disinformation.' said Morcos. 'AI brings to Lebanon both great promise and significant risks,' said Costanza Farina, Director of UNESCO Regional Office in Beirut. 'On one hand, it creates new opportunities for people to access information, connect globally, and amplify underrepresented voices. On the other, it raises serious concerns about misinformation, surveillance, and digital manipulation — challenges that resonate deeply in our local context, where media independence often faces pressure. UNESCO has consistently supported Lebanon in navigating these technological and societal shifts, working closely with our institutional partner, the Ministry of Information, to promote a free, pluralistic, safe, and inclusive media landscape.' The day was also an opportunity to launch a new Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Campaign, developed by UNESCO in partnership with the Ministry of Information in Lebanon and the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF). The campaign aims to raise public awareness on critical thinking and equip citizens with the tools to identify and combat fake news and disinformation. Building on this momentum, UNESCO handed over six cameras to field reporters from the National News Agency (NNA) and Télé Liban. The reporters had previously acquired fact-checking skills through a customized training program, which focused on combating disinformation and upholding media integrity in challenging contexts. A core feature of the event was a series of interactive thematic sessions that convened media professionals, AI experts, policymakers, academics, and civil society actors. The sessions provided a space for open discussion, shared insights, and dialogue on the practical and ethical implications of AI in media. Topics included AI's role in fighting and fueling disinformation, its effect on news production and media viability, and the challenges it poses to editorial independence and democratic discourse. These discussions fostered collective reflection and highlighted the need for robust safeguards and inclusive governance frameworks to protect press freedom. These thematic discussions were not only enriched by expert perspectives but also energized by the presence of young voices. The active involvement of a team of dynamic university students from the Youth Newsroom initiative added a hands-on learning component to the event. These aspiring journalists covered the sessions, conducted interviews, and produced stories as part of a structured training experience in professional reporting and media ethics. World Press Freedom Day 2025 provides a platform to examine how AI can both support and challenge the free flow of information, enhance press freedom, and contribute to democratic consolidation and sustainable development in a rapidly evolving digital world. It reaffirms UNESCO's commitment to promoting a media landscape that is free, inclusive, and grounded in human rights standards, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 16.10 to ensure public access to information and protect fundamental freedoms.
