Pension fest celebrated a day early in State: Savita
Roddham: Minister Savita stated that the 'Pension Festival' began a day early in the State. She participated in a programme at Naranagepalli village of Roddham Mandal, where pensions were distributed along with free LPG cylinders under the Deepam 2 scheme. The Minister personally visited beneficiaries' homes, handed over the pensions, and enquired about their well-being. She highlighted that, in line with the promises made during the elections, the government has decided to issue pensions in full rather than in phases. The pension amounts have been increased to ₹4,000 for the elderly, widows, and single women, and to ₹6,000 for differently-abled persons. She Savita criticized the previous administration, noting that while former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy had promised to increase pensions to ₹3,000 in 2019, he implemented the hike in phases, adding only ₹250 increments each year. She credited NT Rama Rao for initiating the social pension scheme and said Chandrababu Naidu is continuing his legacy. Now, pensions of ₹4,000 per month are being issued, she added. Savita further mentioned that Anna Canteens have been reopened to provide affordable meals for the poor, and three free LPG cylinders are being provided annually to women under welfare schemes. Since Chandrababu Naidu assumed office, the State has been witnessing rapid development, she said, noting that the past five years were marked by a development vacuum. Highlighting recent development initiatives in Roddham mandal, she revealed that CC roads, drainage systems, and bridges worth ₹11 crore have been initiated. Additionally, ₹17.5 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of an MJP school. A new building has also been inaugurated at the government hospital with an investment of ₹50 lakh. To support farmers with power infrastructure, a 33/11 kV substation is being constructed at Dodagattu at a cost of ₹3.5 crore, and Bhoomi Puja for another substation at Gourajupalli will be conducted soon. Minister Savita also announced the completion of 44 Gokulam (cattle) sheds across the mandal. She emphasized the implementation of a free sand distribution policy and reiterated that Anna Canteens are now feeding the underprivileged. Once schools reopen, the 'Talli Ki Vandanam' scheme will provide ₹15,000 per child to eligible families. The 'Annadata Sukhibhava' scheme for farmers is set to be implemented soon, and from August 15, free bus travel for women will also be introduced. The program saw the participation of government officials, NDA alliance leaders, party workers, and a large number of local residents.

Chaos at Akola MJP office: Shiv Sena (UBT) workers hurl chairs, vandalise chamber over pipeline
1 2 3 4 Akola: Chaos erupted at the Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) office in Akola on Friday following protests by Shiv Sena (UBT) workers. The party workers hurled chairs and damaged office property to express their anger over the non-implementation of a water pipeline project. The protesters, including villagers from Ramgaon and surrounding saline belt areas, accused the authorities of delaying a vital water supply project despite earlier assurances. The region, known for its saline groundwater, has long awaited potable water through a separate pipeline under a scheme announced by the Zilla Parishad and MJP. Authorities had reportedly promised that the pipeline connection would be completed within 8 to 10 days. However, 15 days have passed with no progress, prompting locals and Shiv Sena (UBT) activists to stage a protest. The Sena (UBT) workers stormed an officer's chamber, throwing chairs out of the room and damaging furniture and glass panels. They warned of similar protests if the pipeline work does not start. Police were called to the scene following reports of vandalism and are monitoring the situation. As of the time this report was filed, no formal response had been issued by the MJP. Contractor held after official alleges threats & substandard work
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : A contracting firm's distribution head was arrested on Tuesday after a senior official of Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran (MJP) accused him of obstructing govt work, issuing threats and attempting to frame her in false charges following disagreements over the quality of work on an urban water supply project . Tired of too many ads? go ad free now MJP's chief engineer Manisha Palande (50), posted at the MJP's regional division in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, filed a formal complaint in this regard with the Vedantnagar police on Monday. She alleged that contractor Vishal Yedke engaged in deliberate substandard work and resorted to intimidation after she intervened to stop faulty construction practices. Palande took charge as the chief engineer on Sept 6, 2024. She is overseeing the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission and urban water supply schemes under MJP in the region. According to her complaint, the contracting firm was given the work to execute the city's water distribution network, including laying 2,000km of pipelines. Despite strict directions to adhere to hydraulic testing norms and proper standards, she claimed Yedke bypassed protocols to expedite restoration, leading to poor-quality work. In her complaint, Palande stated that Yedke verbally abused her, issued threats and even tried to intimidate her by saying that he would trap her in false Atrocities Act charges. The Vedantnagar police have registered a case against Yedke under sections 132 (criminal force to deter a public servant from duty), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 221 (obstruction of duty), 224 (threat of injury), 237 (false declaration), 248 (false charge with intent to harm), 351(2) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with provocation) of BNS.
