Plantation drive marks Kargil Diwas at city hosp
Lucknow: Paying tributes to the soldiers, who laid down their lives for the country during 1999 Kargil War , the Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute here organised a plantation drive under the theme 'Ek Ped Kargil Balidaniyo Ke Naam' on Saturday. As part of the initiative, 25 saplings of sacred and native trees, including sandalwood, shami, Goolar, Ashok, Rudraksh, Parijat, and Maulishree, were planted on the hospital premises. Director Prof MLB Bhatt narrated the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers during the Kargil War. Ashutosh, regional chief of Vidyarthi Karya, RSS, recounted the bravery and indomitable spirit of the soldiers, who fought in the challenging terrains of Kargil. The event concluded with all attendees observing a two-minute silence in honour of the martyrs. They later raised slogans of 'Jai Hind', reaffirming their dedication to the nation.

Telemedicine service for cancer patients of 10 dists
Lucknow: With Kalyan Singh Super Speciality Cancer Institute & Hospital set to launch a telemedicine service, cancer patients from 10 districts of Uttar Pradesh will no longer need to travel to the state capital for expert consultation. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The service will connect district hospitals and medical colleges with its team of specialist doctors. Once operational, the facility will allow suspected cancer patients to consult oncologists via video calls from their home districts. Based on the symptoms, doctors at the institute will recommend necessary tests, while local healthcare providers will share the reports through WhatsApp or email. Further treatment decisions, including referrals to the institute, will be made only when necessary. The telemedicine project is in its final phase. Most of the required equipment was already procured, and installation is underway at hospitals and medical colleges in 10 districts, including Basti, Ayodhya, and Gonda. The full setup is expected to be completed within a month. Patients who are referred to the institute for treatment will later be asked to return to their district hospitals for follow-up consultations, which will also be conducted via telemedicine. A dedicated panel of cancer specialists will provide continuous support and guidance under this system. Prof MLB Bhatt, director of the institute, said that the recruitment of 96 new doctors is nearing completion. "This will help improve patient care, reduce waiting time, and support the opening of new departments. It will also enhance the institute's upcoming telemedicine services," he added.
