PM Modi To Launch Multiple Development Projects In West Bengal, Bihar, Sikkim Today
Last Updated: PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Bengal, Bihar, Sikkim, and UP on May 29 and 30 to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of development projects worth over Rs 70,000 crore. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to West Bengal, Bihar, Sikkim, and Uttar Pradesh on May 29 and 30, during which he will inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth over Rs 70,000 crore. 'Over the next two days, I will be attending programmes in Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh," the Prime Minister wrote on his official X handle on Wednesday. 'The development works that will commence over the next two days will bring innumerable benefits for people and strengthen our resolve to build a Viksit Bharat," he added. PM MODI IN WEST BENGAL TODAY In West Bengal's Cooch Behar, PM Modi will on Thursday lay the foundation stone of the City Gas Distribution (CGD) project for Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts. The Rs 1,010 crore project will supply Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to over 2.5 lakh households, more than 100 commercial establishments and industries, and establish around 19 CNG stations. The same was confirmed after the Prime Minister wrote on X, 'It is always a delight to be among the people of West Bengal. At a programme in Alipurduar in the afternoon tomorrow, 29th May, the foundation stone for City Gas Distribution (CGD) project in Alipurduar and Cooch Behar districts will be laid. This will benefit several households, improve the environment and provide job opportunities for people." Following the event, PM Modi will also address a public meeting in Bengal's Alipurduar. 'I will be addressing a BJP West Bengal public meeting in Alipurduar tomorrow afternoon. Over the last decade, the various schemes of the NDA Government have been greatly appreciated by the people of West Bengal. At the same time, they are tired of the corruption and poor administration of the TMC," his X post read. The terminal will cater to one crore passengers annually. In the city, he will also lay the foundation stone of the new civil enclave at Bihta Airport, a Rs 1,410 crore project aimed at serving the rapidly expanding educational and residential areas near Patna. 'Tomorrow, 29th May is a landmark day for the people of Bihar and Patna in particular. This great city will get a new passenger terminal which can handle bigger volumes of traffic," the Prime Minister wrote on X. 'The people of Bihar have been waiting for this for many years. The foundation stone for a new civil enclave of Bihta Airport will also be laid. These initiatives will lead to better connectivity and will boost commerce," he added. PM MODI IN SIKKIM TODAY The Prime Minister is also scheduled to attend the golden jubilee celebrations of Sikkim's statehood at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok on Thursday. This would be Modi's second visit to Sikkim as the Prime Minister. 'The PM will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of several projects, including a 500-bed district hospital worth over Rs 750 crore in Namchi, passenger ropeway at Sangachoeling in Pelling in Gyalshing district, statue of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji at Atal Amrit Udyan in Gangtok, among others," an official release stated. He will also release a commemorative coin, souvenir coin and stamp of 50 years of statehood, it stated. 'The PM's visit has been preponed and he would be landing at Libing Helipad at 9.45 am and his motorcade would reach Paljor Stadium at 10 am. He would participate in 'Sikkim@50' celebrations till 11.30 am," Gangtok's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tenzing Loden Lepcha told reporters in Gangtok. He said that elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the grand celebrations of 50th year of Sikkim's integration with India as the 22nd state. Lepcha said that the main function at Paljor Stadium will be from 10 am to 11.30 am, followed by a brief private meeting till 11.45 am. PM MODI IN UTTAR PRADESH ON FRIDAY On May 30 (Friday), Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth about Rs 20,900 crore in UP's Kanpur. The move aims to boost the region's infrastructure and connectivity, an official statement stated. He will launch the Chunniganj Metro Station to Kanpur Central Metro Station section of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project, worth more than Rs 2,120 crore. It will include 14 planned stations with five new underground stations integrating key city landmarks and commercial hubs into the metro network. Besides, he will also inaugurate road-widening and strengthening work of the GT Road, the statement mentioned. In order to boost the power generation capacity in the region, Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone (from Kanpur) of a 220 kV substation in Sector 28 at Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), Gautam Buddh Nagar. He will also inaugurate 132 kV substations worth over Rs 320 crore at Ecotech-8 and Ecotech-10 in Greater Noida. PM Modi will inaugurate a 660 MW Panki Thermal Power Extension Project in Kanpur worth over Rs 8,300 crore. He will also launch three 660 MW units of the Ghatampur Thermal Power Project worth over Rs 9,330 crore, the statement read. Rail over bridges over Panki Power House Railway Crossing and Panki Dham Crossing on Panki Road at Kalyanpur Panki Mandir in Kanpur will also be inaugurated. Besides this, a 40 MLD (million litres per day) tertiary treatment plant at Bingawan in Kanpur worth over Rs 290 crore will also be inaugurated. It will enable the reuse of treated sewage water. PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the widening and strengthening of Gauria Pali Marg for industrial development in Kanpur, and widening and strengthening of the road to connect Narwal Mode (AH-1) on Prayagraj Highway to Kanpur Defence Node (four lane) under Defence Corridor. He will also distribute certificates and cheques to the beneficiaries of PM Ayushman Vay Vandana Yojna, National Livelihood Mission and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, according to the release.
