Aussie family in hysterics over aunt's embarrassing mistake with common household item: 'Expensive error'

A woman captured the amusing moment her aunt mistook an Apple MacBook for a chopping board - leaving the family in hysterics. Bree Tomasel, an Aussie radio host living in New Zealand, shared the video on social media showing her Aunty Shirl being called out by a family member for slicing papaya on his brand new, expensive laptop. 'Jesus Christ that's my laptop, it's not a freaking cutting board,' he screamed. 'Christ. It's a bloody brand new MacBook.' Aunty Shirl's jaw dropped the moment she realised her mistake as the man shook his head in disbelief and jokingly said, 'Hopeless'. Bree can be heard laughing uncontrollably behind the camera as her mum Di gasped in horror: 'Oh my God'. Despite the mix-up, Aunty Shirl couldn't contain her laughter as everyone saw the funny side. 'Aunty Shirl used a MacBook as a cutting board... accidentally,' Bree said in the caption, adding the hashtag: #okboomer. The video was originally posted in December 2019 but it has been making the rounds on social media again in recent days, racking up more than 1.3 million views. 'That cutting board had to cost a lot,' one suggested. 'Omg I can't stop laughing,' another shared. 'Lucky you caught her before she chucked it in the dishwasher,' one joked. 'Cutting Edge Technology,' another joked in light of the situation. 'In her defense, it literally has an apple on it,' one pointed out. The video has gone viral once again, with Specsavers chiming in: 'Hey', a nod to its famous slogan, 'Should've gone to Specsavers.' Many saw the funny side to the situation, with one suggesting: 'At her age she can do whatever the heck she wants she deserves it! Keep laughing, it keeps you young.' Others pointed out the laptop should never have been left on the kitchen counter. 'Why did you leave it on the kitchen bench in the first place?' one asked, laughing. 'To be fair, that's a kitchen not an office,' another added. Meanwhile, many people shared their own experiences of family members, friends or acquaintances mistaking everyday items. 'One of my uncles did this after he saw an apple and assumed it was a chopping board,' one revealed. 'An old lady put a burning candle on my sister's iPad once because she "thought it was a mirror",' another shared.

WAVLINK Unveils the Ultimate Productivity Docking Station: New DisplayLink® Pro DL-7400 Delivers 8K Resolution and Quad-Display Support for Power Users and Enterprise

The DL7400 Series Office Adapter Family Welcomes a New Addition WAVLINK, launched its landmark new series of docking stations, built on the industry-leading DisplayLink® Pro DL-7400 . Engineered for data-driven professionals, software engineers, and modern enterprises, this series is designed to deliver an unprecedented multi-display desktop experience, powering up to five monitors from a single USB-C cable and supporting resolutions up to 8K@60Hz. The WAVLINK DL-7400 series DisplayLink Docking station directly addresses the primary bottleneck in today's professional workflows: limited screen real estate. It transforms any compatible laptop into a powerful, clutter-free command center, ideal for demanding fields like financial services, engineering, software development, and corporate environments. "In today's knowledge-based economy, productivity isn't just about raw processing power—it's about the ability to visualize and manage information simultaneously," said at WAVLINK. "Our DL-7400 series is purpose-built for that reality. It uses advanced USB graphics to bypass the native display limitations of a computer's GPU, offering a powerful and elegant solution for all users, but it's a particular game-changer for MacBook users who have long been constrained by a two-screen limit. This lineup elevates their efficiency to an entirely new level." Hardcore Tech for Unmatched Productivity The WAVLINK DL-7400 series integrates a suite of powerful technologies engineered for peak performance and reliability. Revolutionary DisplayLink® USB Graphics: At its core, the series leverages DisplayLink's adaptive compression algorithm. A dedicated driver encodes the video signal on the CPU and transmits it as a standard USB data packet. The dock's internal DL-7400 chip then decodes this stream and outputs it to the monitors. This intelligent method bypasses the host computer's native GPU limits, enabling it to drive far more displays than is traditionally possible. Unprecedented Display Density: The flagship WL-UG75PD5-3H2D can drive up to five external displays simultaneously. For professionals juggling real-time data feeds, multiple codebases, virtual machines, and communication tools, this creates a fully immersive, distraction-free workspace. Future-Proof, Ultra-HD Visuals: By incorporating VESA's Display Stream Compression (DSC), the dock delivers visually lossless video for ultra-high resolutions, supporting a single 8K@60Hz display or a fluid 4K@120Hz for applications where motion clarity is critical. True Universal Compatibility: This is the ultimate solution for mixed-device and BYOD environments. The series is platform-agnostic, offering seamless support for Windows, macOS (including native Apple Silicon M1/M2/M3/M4 support), ChromeOS, and popular Linux distributions like Ubuntu. It works with both USB-C and legacy USB-A host computers. Enterprise-Grade I/O: 2.5Gbps Ethernet: Offers 2.5 times the speed of standard Gigabit Ethernet, ensuring the network is never the bottleneck when accessing network-attached storage (NAS), high-speed corporate intranets, or large cloud-based datasets. 10Gbps Data Ports: Multiple USB-A and USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 ports provide a massive 10Gbps of bandwidth for transferring huge files in seconds or connecting high-speed peripherals like external NVMe enclosures. 100W Smart Power Delivery: Robust Power Delivery 3.0 safely negotiates and provides maximum power to your laptop, easily handling even power-hungry, workstation-class machines. Optimized for High-Intensity Professional Workflows The WAVLINK DL-7400 series is precisely targeted at professionals who demand ultimate efficiency: For Financial Traders & Data Analysts: Build the ultimate market command center. Visualize real-time tickers, complex candlestick charts, macro-economic dashboards, and a Bloomberg Terminal simultaneously, ensuring every decision is backed by comprehensive, at-a-glance information. For Software Engineers & Developers: Code on a primary vertical 4K monitor, run local servers or containers on a second, browse technical documentation on a third, and perform UI testing on a fourth. This dramatically optimizes the code-compile-debug loop for maximum throughput. For Corporate Power Users & Project Managers: Manage Gantt charts, CRM dashboards, complex spreadsheets, and team communications in a single, unified view. Effortlessly share content across different screens during presentations and video conferences. For IT Administrators: The unified DisplayLink driver and broad compatibility dramatically simplify enterprise deployment and maintenance. This makes the series an ideal solution for implementing hot-desking or standardized workstation setups, significantly reducing IT support overhead. Whether you're a devoted Apple user or just someone who owns an iPhone, iPad, MacBook, or Apple Watch, facing technical issues can be frustrating. Fortunately, for residents and visitors in the UAE, Apple repair Dubai services are easily accessible, fast, and increasingly specialized. In this comprehensive guide, we'll walk you through everything you need to know about getting your Apple devices repaired in Dubai — from common problems and authorized service centers to tips for choosing the best repair shop and what to expect during the process. Apple products are known for their high-quality design, performance, and security. However, they also feature proprietary hardware and software systems that make them more complex to repair than other electronics. For instance, something as simple as replacing a screen or battery on an iPhone or MacBook requires special tools, training, and access to genuine Apple parts. Because of this, it's important to opt for repair services that specialize in Apple products — especially if you live in a high-tech city like Dubai where professional repair options are widely available. Here are some of the most common problems Apple users face: Cracked or shattered screens Battery draining quickly iOS software malfunctions Charging port not working Water damage Slow performance Logic board failure Screen flickering or not turning on Keyboard not responding Trackpad issues Touchscreen unresponsiveness Display cracks App crashes Charging problems Syncing problems Battery issues Screen damage Unresponsive buttons For all these issues and more, there are reliable Apple repair Dubai solutions that can help restore your device to optimal functionality. Dubai offers a wide range of repair options — from authorized Apple Service Providers to trusted third-party technicians. Here's a breakdown: Apple-authorized service centers use genuine Apple parts and certified technicians trained by Apple. A high number of positive reviews typically indicates trustworthy service. Ensure the shop offers a warranty on parts and labor. This reflects their confidence in the quality of service. Ask how long the repair will take. For busy professionals or travelers, time is of the essence. Ask whether the parts used are original Apple components. If not, ensure they at least meet high OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards. Repair costs vary depending on the device and type of issue. Here's a general estimate for common problems: Device Issue Estimated Cost (AED) iPhone Screen Replacement 250–600 iPhone Battery Replacement 150–350 MacBook Screen Repair 800–1800 MacBook Logic Board Repair 1200–2500 iPad Touchscreen Repair 300–900 Apple Watch Battery Replacement 200–400 Note: Prices are subject to change and may vary by repair shop. The next iPad Pro could get a weirdly practical camera upgrade

Apple's next wave of M5-powered machines will start hitting the shelves next year. We're talking about an upgrade to the MacBook Air and an earlier-than-usual launch for the MacBook Pro refresh. The iPad Pro is also queued up for a silicon upgrade, but it seems there will be another surprise for buyers who engage in a lot of video calling. According to Bloomberg, Apple is planning to offer two front-facing cameras on the next iPad Pro. The first one will sit in its usual landscape mode orientation at the top, while the second one will be positioned on the adjacent edge to allow video calls in portrait mode. Why does it matter? 'Apple is apparently adding a second, portrait-side front-facing camera to the upcoming M5 iPad Pro, presumably so FaceTimers and selfie fans can use the device equally well in either orientation,' says the report. Recommended Videos To recall, Apple has historically positioned the front camera in portrait mode on iPads. It was only with the M4 generation last year that the camera position switched from portrait to landscape. The switch made sense, given the heft and screen size of the larger 13-inch iPad Pro and how it's usually propped atop a stand or keyboard in landscape mode. However, for the smaller 11-inch model, the shift was somewhat of a mixed bag since it can be carried in one hand with ease, making it ideal for portrait mode usage. What else is coming? Apple's dual-camera move seems like a balancing act and a step in the right direction. However, it's quite likely that the Face ID hardware will remain aligned with the landscape front camera, instead of the secondary portrait-side sensor. Another notable change inside the 2026 iPad Pro will be the M5 silicon. As far as the design goes, it is likely to be identical, given that the new design language with a slimmer waistline and a single rear camera approach at the back was only introduced in 2024. The other big change is going to be the software, and specifically, the AI-focused enhancements. Apple has already introduced a macOS-like menu bar and an updated canvas system with iPadOS. Rumors suggest that Siri's AI enhancements will allow it to interact with apps and get more done than it can accomplish with a hybrid ChatGPT system at the moment.
