McDonald's launching ‘iconic' new burger that has never been seen before in UK
The fast food chain is introducing the new Big Arch burger on June 18 for the first time in the UK - here is all the information you need to know, including how much it will cost McDonald's is launching an 'iconic' new menu item this month that has never been available before in the UK. The fast food chain is introducing the new Big Arch burger on June 18. Maccies says the burger, which has been on sale before in Canada, Portugal and Germany, is made with two juicy 100% British and Irish beef patties, topped with white cheddar cheese slices, crispy onions, fresh onions, shredded lettuce, crunchy pickles, and smothered in signature Big Arch sauce. The burger on its own costs £7.99, or you'll pay £9.99 for a medium meal with a side and drink. Keep in mind do vary from restaurant to restaurant. Thomas O'Neill, Head of Menu at McDonald's UK&I, said: 'A new iconic burger needs an equally iconic sauce, and we've taken it up a notch with the Big Arch. This isn't just about size, it's about flavour. 'With double layers of beef, crispy onions, and the hero of the build, our signature sauce, every bite is crafted to hit the spot to satisfy serious McDonald's hunger. Big, bold, and packed with serious deliciousness.' It comes after McDonald's added new items to its menu last month, including the return of the McSpicy X Frank's RedHot. The McSpicy X Frank's RedHot contains a chicken breast in a hot and crispy coating, topped with lettuce, cheese made with Emmental, jalapenos, slivered onions, and Frank's RedHot Mayo. You can also buy a separate pot of Frank's RedHot Mayo dip. The Steakhouse Stack has also rejoined the menu, alongside the Biscoff McFlurry and Biscoff Frappe. Maccies has also launched a new Frozen Cherry Lemonade, which is described as a tangy frozen lemonade with a sweet cherry flavoured swirl. Separately, McDonald's has also confirmed it is launching two new breakfast items next week as part of a major shake-up. The fast food chain is trialling a new Breakfast Savers Menu across the north of England. It includes a brand new Sausage Sandwich and a savers version of the popular Bacon Roll. Some selected McDonald's restaurants across the North will also offer a new Breakfast Bundle Deal which comes with a Saver Bacon Roll or Sausage Sandwich, plus a drink. The new Breakfast Savers Menu will be trialled in 332 restaurants from May 7. It will also feature fan favourites such as the Cheesy Bacon Flatbread and Hash Browns.

Builth Wells duo ‘climb Everest' by completing Wild Horse
EVEN though I hate the term 'bucket list', climbing to Mount Everest Base Camp is on mine, and my girlfriend's. However, I'm not sure that you really need to make the odyssey to Nepal now, Michelle Woods, after completing the Wild Horse 200 last weekend, organised by the fabulous Pegasus Ultra Running. Starting from Chepstow at 6am last Wednesday, May 21, she and her friend Izzy Watts spent the next four-and-a-bit days running, walking, climbing and at times crawling the 200 miles to the finish line in Rhossili, on the Gower Peninsula, collapsing onto the finish line gate, overlooking Worm's Head, just after 1pm on Sunday. During that gruelling trek, the Builth Wells duo amassed 31,644 feet of elevation. For reference, the summit of Mount Everest is 29,028ft. She's already climbed higher than Everest… so is there really any need to go there now, babe?! To put their feat into even more context, a friend's son mused in the pub on Monday: 'That's the sort of height planes fly at." Izzy 's partner, Gary, and I, had a bird's eye view of the event, as their support crew. Together, we traversed over 500 miles of roads, lanes, dusty tracks, car parks, fire roads and lay-bys in support of the girls – some, though definitely not me, would say our achievements were even more impressive. Kidding aside, their gargantuan slog was truly epic and inspiring. Despite taking every ounce of sweat, blood, tears and effort they had, a cohort of family and friends waiting for them at the finish line was ample reward. There were plenty of tears. Izzy and Chelle at Ponsticill Reservoir. (Image: Matt Jones) I've become something of an ultra marathon runner myself in the last 12 months, completing two. But there's no way I would take on one 200 miles in length. Izzy completed a 100-mile event last year, which almost broke her. So, what on earth possessed her to do one double the distance, I cannot possibly fathom. But, they're made of stern stuff, this pair. It pushed them to physical, mental and emotional breaking point – fuelled by a combination of energy drinks and gels, cake, sweets, cups of tea, salty snacks and bitesize bowls of cheesy mash and beans. Gary and I? Our bodies remain largely constructed of junk food, after we gorged on Maccies, chippies and bacon and sausage baps to get us through the week. The gang at the penultimate checkpoint in Penclawdd, Swansea, ahead of the girls heading off for the last leg, the 17 miles to Rhossili, on Sunday morning. (Image: Matt Jones) It was rewarding experience for us in the van too. Crew life was a mix of keeping the girls fed and watered, bandaged and dosed up with ibuprofen, and keeping them motivated. There was a real camaraderie forged with other runners and the dedicated individuals and teams keeping them going as well. If you like stats, here's some more eye-watering numbers from Chelle and Izzy's Wild Horse buffoonery. Chelle clocked up 446,669 steps over the course of 200 miles. It took them a little over 103 hours to reach the finish line (achieved on the event's fourth day, well ahead of the 6am cut-off on Monday morning). They passed 10 checkpoints, three of which were designated sleep stations, even though they only slept for around six hours in total. The winner, New Zealander Damian Watson, finished in a remarkable time of 51 hours, 51 minutes – smashing the course record by more than four hours. Of the event's starting field of 103 runners, 71 finished, while there were 32 DNFs (did not finish). This included one man found sleeping on a road; so delirious he told paramedics he was sleeping on a bench – he was immediately pulled from the race for his own safety… and sanity. You have to be slightly insane to enter a race like this in the first place. Our girls are recovering this week… but Chelle is already talking about entering the Mid Wales version of the Wild Horse, which is returning next year.

'I compared Aldi's hash browns to McDonald's and was amazed by price difference'
McDonald's hash browns are arguably one of the best breakfast items on the menu, but now they have some pretty fierce competition thanks to Aldi. The budget supermarket has launched its Oakhurst Breakfast Hash Browns, which have been hailed as 'superior' to McDonald's £1.49 single offering by food lovers across the nation. Any Maccies lover will know they can only get their hands on the hash browns until 11am, but Aldi is on a mission to allow foodies the chance to tuck into the golden crispy treat any time of the day for a lot cheaper. The bargain supermarket is famous for near-identical dupes at incredible prices - and they have managed to create their own take on the beloved McDonald's favourite. Hash browns to me are one of the best hangover cures, but it can be annoying when they are taken off the menu post 11am, so I wanted to see if Aldi could compare when it comes to the hash brown game. So I headed to my local store to pick up a box, and ordered two McDonald's hash browns to see if they could rival the fast food giant... Research from Aldi uncovered the "great breakfast frustration" -the feeling Brits experience when they miss out on the breakfast cut-off. The study revealed that 62% of UK adults believe 11am is too early to stop serving breakfast, with one in five (22%) saying they would prefer breakfast food to be available all day - and I couldn't agree more. Maccies hash browns are known for their golden and crispy coating and seriously fluffy inside, so I knew it would be a pretty tough gig to try and beat, but I was seriously surprised. When I spotted them on the shelves of Aldi, I knew instantly they were a McDonald's dupe - the images on the box looked almost identical to a McDonald's hash brown, making them easily identifiable. Aldi's Oakhurst Breakfast Hash Brownshave garnered cult status among breakfast enthusiasts, often outdoing the fast food chain in blind taste tests across social media and food critic reviews. But for £1.99 for a box of ten, I was still sceptical thinking the price was too good to be true. Whenever I think of frozen hash browns, I imagine them going soggy with too much potato. And when I took them out of the box, it was clear they were smaller. I popped two in my air fryer for eight minutes. They were perfectly golden and crispy and smelt delicious. If they weren't next to the original McDonald's ones, you could easily mistake them for being straight from Mcdonald's—the only giveaway was the size and shape. However when it came to the test, I couldn't believe how alike they were. Aldi's were prehaps a little more onion-y and seasoned a little more, but what I liked about the supermarket version was they were a lot less oily. One of the reasons McDonald's ones are so nice is because they are deep fried - which means they can only be enjoyed as a treat every so often. The potato was identical in texture to McDonald's, but sadly, the crispy coating wasn't as good as McDonald's, presumably because it wasn't deep-fried. With Aldi's, being able to air fry them removes all of the oil, making them healthier and less messy to eat. The fact they were a lot less oily really stood out. I was very impressed with Aldi's take on the famous hash browns, and I am definitely a fan. I will be picking these up again as for 20p per hash brown, you can't go wrong. But I will always treat myself to a McDonald's hash brown every so often, I think. For those who want to try, there are Aldi branded food vans pulling up outside selected McDonald's restaurants from precisely 11:01am, just after the fast-food chain's breakfast service ends and offering free, freshly cooked hash browns to those left craving their morning potato fix. Julie Ashfield, Chief Commercial Officer at Aldi UK, said: "Brits love their hash browns and our Oakhurst Breakfast Hash Browns have developed quite the loyal following, with over half a million breakfast hash browns sold in store per week. "That's why our hash brown van has been designed with one purpose — to bring the nation their crispy potato fix at any time of the day, not just before 11am." For those that miss out on Aldi's hash brown tour, the supermarket's popular hash brown range including the Oakhurst Breakfast Hash Browns are available to buy in stores now.

Aldi's 'naughty' new offering outside McDonald's has fast food fans in stitches
There's nothing worse than making it to McDonald's and realising you've missed the 11am cut off to get your hash brown fix. In fact, 62% of Brits believe this is too early to stop serving breakfast, with more than a fifth of us wanting breakfast food to be available all day. Well Aldi might just be the answer to our prayers, as it looks to give the beloved fast food chain a run for its money. The budget supermarket is hitting the road in its very own food truck, pulling up outside select McDonald's from 11.01am to offer its own free version of the breakfast staple. That's right, you'll be able to get your hands on Aldi's freshly cooked Oakhurst Breakfast Hash Browns all day. There's no need to rush hungover in your pyjamas to the drive through any longer. The tour will start at London McDonald's branches on ThursdayMay 29, before continuing to other UK cities on Friday. Depending on stock levels, the food truck may continue to operate over the weekend, but if they're as popular as we think they're going to be, then you'll need to be quick. The supermarket claims its hash browns have garnered cult status among breakfast connoisseurs. It even says its 'outdoes' McDonald's in blind taste tests by food critics and social media accounts. Capital FM host @aimeevivian shared her love of the viral hash browns on TikTok, saying: 'It's another run don't walk to Aldi! I love a cheeky Maccies hash brown as a treat. So to find these in @Aldi UK was a touch!' Others in the comments dubbed the supermarket hash browns 'perfect' and 'just like Maccies', so we have a feeling they'll satisfy those cravings. TikToker @dadthefoodie said: 'They look like McDonald's… you can't tell any difference.' Others online questioned how Aldi were 'getting away' with the stunt. One wrote: 'How the hell did you get away with that,' while another said: 'I love Aldi for sooooo many reasons but the fact they always choose violence has to be number one.' Others called the stunt 'Pure naughtiness!' and dubbed Aldi 'legends' for their new truck. If you're unable to make it to a McDonald's car park, you can grab a bag of 10 hash browns at Aldi for just £1.99. It's a steal when you consider the fast food chain charges £1.49 for a single hash brown. Then again you've got to cook it yourself, and we don't know if we've got the patience for that. But this isn't the only breakfast staple budget supermarkets do well. Lidl also made headlines last week after its sausages beat out competition from M&S, Heck, Jolly Hog and Sainsbury's, in a blind taste test. The supermarket sausages received a score of 77% because of their 'juicy texture' and 'perfect meaty flavour' – talk about high praise. More Trending Aldi's sausages came seventh in the taste test just behind Morrisons and Asda with a score of 69% – putting it on par with The Jolly Hog and Co-op. Inside world's most beautiful McDonald's that 'looks more like a museum'
While most of us know what the inside of a McDonald's eatery looks like, there are some beautiful and unique ones around the world - and one impressive chain has left people gobsmacked People have been wowed by this incredible and unique McDonald's that looks more like a museum than a fast food chain. When we travel abroad, many of us typically try out the local cuisines and avoid food spots that we can easily get at home. But often some of our favourite big name brands offer different menus in different countries. McDonald's menus vary by location to reflect local tastes and traditions. The biggest McDonald's restaurant is in Orlando, Florida, and there is the "poshest" chain in Long Island. In New Zealand, there is a McDonald's where food is served from an abandoned aeroplane, plus there is a floating McDonald's service in Germany. We know how much the Italians pride themselves on good food, so of course they had to join the list with one of the most beautiful McDonald's in the world. While visit Rome, you will find a unique chain with hand-carved statues in the entranceway. Located near the famous Spanish steps, this McDonald's has a sculpture in the entranceway that looks like it could be a rendering of the Roman goddess Venus. Further into the restaurant beyond the classic McDonald's stills, stands a separate section devoted to decadent-looking cakes, tarts, and donuts. Fans love taking videos and pictures of the spot - and it has gone viral online, with people tourists making sure they add it to their must-do list while visiting the ancient Italian city. TikTok account @moromatour – a page which shares Roman insights and offers tours around the city - shared a look inside the amazing eatery. The video has raked in 1.8million views and has the caption: "This McDonald's looks like a museum. Rome, Italy." "Proud to say I have been there," commented one. One other wrote: "No matter where you are, got to try Maccies at least once, totally different menus and vibe! We were at this Maccies on Tuesday and it's actually massive, proper McCafe with pastries and coffee!" One other who was shocked after seeing the spot, said: "I remember when I was in Rome and stumbled upon this McDonald's completely on accident" "I was there, it's incredible," insisted one other. Some observed that due to its uniqueness this eatery can get busy fast. In other McDonald's news, a menu shake up has been announced for later this month. Plus, a Brit has been left stunned by the menu items on offer at McDonald's in Japan following a recent visit - and he cannot believe how different it is to the UK.
