Oman: OPAZ engages with the community via ‘Tajawob' platform
Muscat: The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (Opaz) engaged with several suggestions, complaints, reports and inquiries submitted via the national platform 'Tajawob' until the end of May. A total of 44 requests were received, including 12 suggestions, 10 complaints, 20 inquiries and 2 reports, reflecting a growing interaction aimed at enhancing public participation tools. Dr. Ahmed bin Saif Al Mamari, Acting Director of Customer Services Department at Opaz, confirmed that all requests received via the platform have been given due attention since its launch in late February. Complaints were handled within record timeframes, with the shortest response time recorded at under 10 minutes and the longest at two days. Most inquiries focused on investment procedures, company registration and investor visas. Complaints, meanwhile, were referred to the relevant departments for resolution. He stated that the received suggestions were diverse, including the development of incubators in industrial cities, enhancement of the tourism front in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm (Sezad), and the renaming of certain industrial cities under the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn). All suggestions have been referred to the relevant departments within the Authority and the zones it supervises for study and evaluation. Al Mamari also mentioned that some of the submissions received via the platform included innovative proposals, reflecting the level of public engagement with global technological and scientific advancements. One notable suggestion involved utilising the advancements in drone technology for the transport sector, which was referred to a specialised consultancy, while technical experts in the zone provided their input directly to the proposer. World Down Syndrome Day marked
SUHAR: The Ministry of Social Development, in collaboration with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), on Monday celebrated World Down Syndrome Day under the slogan "A Smile on the Faces of People with Disabilities." The event, organised by the General Directorate of Social Development in Al Batinah North, was held under the auspices of Shaikh Rashid bin Ahmed al Shamsi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development. Amani al Amri, head of the event committee from Sohar Industrial City, emphasised the integrated efforts between government and private institutions in supporting people with disabilities, recognising their capabilities and promoting their inclusion in society. She added that such events provide an opportunity to connect with them and help them integrate into society as active contributors. The ceremony witnessed the signing of employment contracts for a number of people with disabilities in Al Batinah North Governorate, coordinated with the General Directorate of Labour in the governorate. The contracts were with several companies in Sohar Industrial City. Ahmed bin Salem al Hajri, Director-General of Labour in Al Batinah North, confirmed that 43 job-seekers with disabilities have been employed since the beginning of the year. - ONA

Oman: Total investment in Al Buraimi Industrial City hits $711mln
Muscat: Al Buraimi Industrial City, affiliated with the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), successfully signed 16 investment contracts in 2024, with a total investment value of OMR7,970,000. These contracts involve establishing projects on areas exceeding 165,000 square metres across various sectors, including automotive oil manufacturing, paper and cardboard, food, water, and cosmetics. Said bin Abdullah Al Balushi, Director General of Al Buraimi Industrial City, stated that the industrial city has recorded an outstanding performance during 2024 as the cumulative investment volume has now exceeded OMR274 million. 'This is attributed to the constant efforts by Madayn to create a competitive and attractive business environment for investors, while emphasising on job creation, supporting small and medium enterprises, and promoting economic diversification and sustainable industrial growth in line with Oman Vision 2040." Al Balushi pointed out that the dualisation of Al Buraimi–Mahdah Road, currently being implemented by the relevant authorities in coordination with Madayn, represents a key project of strategic significance, serving as a main artery linking the Wilayat of Mahdah with Al Buraimi Governorate. The road will connect to both Phase 1 and Phase 2 of Al Buraimi Industrial City, providing major solutions for organising entrances and exits to each phase, ensuring smooth access between them, and ultimately serving investors by saving time and effort. He added that Al Buraimi Industrial City signed a cooperation agreement last week with Al Buraimi University College to enhance collaboration through knowledge exchange, events and activities, training of students and national cadres, and support for research and innovation projects. It is worth noting that Al Buraimi Industrial City spans 14,414,294 square metres, of which 4,247,099 square metres area is already developed. Strategically divided into two geographically distinct phases, the industrial city enjoys a prime location along the Sultanate of Oman's border with the United Arab Emirates. This unique positioning offers investors and companies seamless access to the GCC markets—particularly the UAE—enhancing the city's competitive advantage through efficient cross-border trade, streamlined logistics, and proximity to major highways that connect directly to key Omani ports such as Sohar Port. Al Buraimi Industrial City investment surpasses RO 274 million
MUSCAT: Al Buraimi Industrial City, operated by the Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn), has recorded strong growth in 2024, with cumulative investments now exceeding RO 274 million. According to Saeed bin Abdullah al Balushi, Director General of Al Buraimi Industrial City, the city signed 16 investment contracts this year alone, totalling around RO 7.97 million. These contracts cover over 165,000 square metres and span various sectors, including motor oil production, paper and cardboard manufacturing, food and water processing, and cosmetics. Al Balushi attributed this performance to Madayn's continued efforts to build a competitive, business-friendly environment that supports job creation, empowers small and medium enterprises, and promotes sustainable industrial development in line with Oman Vision 2040. He also noted the strategic importance of the ongoing Mahdha–Buraimi Road Dualisation Project, being implemented in coordination with Madayn. This major infrastructure upgrade will connect both phases of the industrial city and facilitate smoother traffic flow, easing movement for investors and improving access to key sites.
