Missionaries, Left tried to brainwash tribals: CM Yogi Adityanath

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath Monday said that before the BJP came to power, certain missionaries and leftist groups attempted to brainwash the tribal society. He said, until 2017, members of tribal communities were denied fundamental rights such as voting, ration cards, and access to basic infrastructure like roads, electricity, and healthcare. Yogi was addressing the gathering at the 'Worker felicitation ceremony of the Shri Guru Gorakhnath Health Service Yatra' held in Lucknow this evening where Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale was also present as the chief guest. Reflecting on the tense period of conflict between Maoists and Madhesis in Nepal, CM Yogi recalled taking stock of the situation through office bearers of the Hindu Jagran Manch. 'It was then that I truly understood the unwavering efforts of the Sangh and its affiliated organisations in safeguarding and serving our border communities,' he added. Chief Minister expressed gratitude to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Bharat Ratna Nanaji Deshmukh, and his revered Guru, Mahant Avaidyanath, for their visionary contributions toward uplifting the underprivileged. 'They established hostels and schools for children, laying the foundation for educational and social empowerment in remote regions,' he said. The Chief Minister further stated that tribal communities in forest areas remained neglected even decades after independence. 'You'll be surprised to know that until 2017, these villagers had no right to vote, no ration cards, no electricity, roads, or healthcare,' he said. They were at the mercy of the forest department and the police and suffered years of exploitation.'
