French Ambassador hails Lebanon's banking secrecy reform as key step toward recovery
French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro described the Lebanese Parliament's approval of the banking secrecy law as 'a promising step on the path of economic and financial reforms.' In a post on X, Magro emphasized that restoring confidence in Lebanon's banking sector also hinges on the next phase: the adoption of a draft law to restructure the banking sector. Finance Minister, French Ambassador discusses reforms and reconstruction
Finance Minister Yassin Jaber welcomed French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro at his ministry office in a courtesy visit. The meeting provided an opportunity to review the reform measures undertaken by the Finance Ministry and the ongoing cooperation with the French Development Agency (AFD), particularly in the context of preparing Lebanon's 2026 budget. According to a statement from the ministry's media office, Ambassador Magro expressed France's full support for the Lebanese government and its reform agenda. The French diplomat affirmed his country's readiness to provide assistance at both political and technical levels. Magro also revealed French President Emmanuel Macron's keen interest in aiding Lebanon, announcing plans to help establish a dedicated fund to support reconstruction efforts. Moreover, Magro emphasized that France's commitment comes in response to Lebanon's declared intention to ensure transparency in implementing reforms.

Minister Shehadeh receives French Ambassador
Minister of the Displaced and State Minister for Technology Affairs Kamal Shehadeh received in his office at the ministry, French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro who came on an acquaintance visit. Ambassador Magro congratulated Minister Shehadeh, on assuming his ministerial posts. Magro expressed his country's readiness "to support Lebanon and its government based on the priorities set by the Lebanese government, while stressing France's readiness to assist and cooperate in areas related to the Ministry of State for Technology Affairs."
