Horror photos show aftermath of fatal Truganina crash that left passenger dead and sports car shredded after colliding with parked truck

Alarming images showing the aftermath of a fatal crash have emerged after a person was killed when the sports car they were travelling in was torn apart after crashing into a parked truck. Two people were travelling in a bright orange Ford Mustang through Truganina, in Melbourne's west, when they ploughed into a parked truck about 1am. While the truck appears mostly unscathed, the Mustang was completely shredded. The person sitting on the passenger side of the car, which sustained most of the damage, was killed. The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Dramatic images from the scene show a nearly unrecognisable car crushed into a heap. Chunks of the car were scattered across the road, and the roof was taken clean off on the passenger's side. Firefighters were on site Wednesday morning inspecting the damage. Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the crash. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash remains ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or any other information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at

Seward Highway reopens in both directions near Girdwood after vehicle collision

May 31—A vehicle collision early Saturday on the Seward Highway near Girdwood temporarily closed the highway in both directions, police said. Anchorage police said in an online update that the crash reported around 3:53 a.m. occurred around Mile 92.5, along a stretch of the highway between Bird Point and Girdwood. Girdwood Fire and Rescue said on social media that the accident was "impacting highway and railroad." The Alaska Railroad's train tracks run parallel along much of the highway to Seward. Additional information about circumstances of the crash, including details about any injuries or fatalities, wasn't immediately available from police. The highway's closure for several hours early Saturday backed up traffic as the department's Major Collision Investigation Unit processed the scene. By 8:30 a.m., police said traffic had started moving in both directions, though one northbound lane remained closed at that point. Midtown Anchorage traffic incident Police said an earlier incident on the New Seward Highway in Midtown Anchorage around Benson Boulevard had also disrupted traffic Saturday. The incident reported around 3:05 a.m. closed northbound lanes of the highway between East 36th Avenue and East Benson Boulevard while the Major Collision Investigation Unit was processing the scene, police said in an online update. The highway was open in both directions by 10:15 a.m., police said in an alert. Additional details on this investigation weren't immediately available from the Anchorage Police Department. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.

Three teenagers have been taken to hospital after crash involving an allegedly stolen car

Two 16-year-old boys are fighting for life after crashing an allegedly stolen car in Melbourne's west on Sunday morning. Emergency services were called to the intersection of Doherty and Derrimut roads in Tarneit just before 1:30am following reports of a crash. Police believe a stolen Haval Jolion collided with a Toyota Camry before crashing into a pole. "Checks have revealed the Haval was stolen from a shopping centre carpark on Hummingbird Boulevard, Tarneit, on May 10," a Victoria Police spokesperson said. Three 16-year-old boys were in the alleged stolen car at the time. Two suffered life-threatening injuries while the third suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They were all taken to hospital. Acting Sergeant Melanie MacFarlane from the Major Collision Investigation Unit described the crash as "extremely serious". "The scene was chaotic and catastrophic. The damage to the vehicle was extreme," she said. "They're fighting for their lives in hospital. They've got really serious injuries that were completely and entirely preventable." She said it was "lucky" no-one in the other vehicle was injured. "They're extremely lucky. They were fortunate enough not to have any injuries as a result of this collision and managed to walk away from what could have been an absolutely disastrous day for everybody," she said. While investigations into the crash are ongoing, Sergeant MacFarlane said this type of behaviour by youths was unacceptable. "This was entirely preventable and now they're all in hospital fighting for their lives." Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or who has CCTV footage or dashcam vision to contact Crime Stoppers.
