First responders battle residential fire in Malden
The Malden Fire Department, alongside members of the Malden Police Department, are battling a residential fire. According to Malden police's social media, they are assisting fire crews with an active residential structure fire in the area of 211 Ferry Street. Police have asked the public to avoid Ferry Street between Eastern Avenue and Cross Street as crews work to extinguish the fire. Mass. school shelters in place while police search for person after traffic stop
Malden police are searching for a person who ran from their car following a traffic stop has prompted a nearby school to shelter in place as a precaution, the Malden Police Department said Wednesday. A person driving in the area of Mountain Avenue failed to stop for an officer and ran away from their car, police said in a statement. 'A perimeter has been established as officers work to locate the individual,' police said, and that the area would see a heavy police presence and a helicopter looking for the person. Nearby, the Early Learning Center implemented its shelter-in-place protocol as a precaution, police said. Officers will be on-scene to 'ensure a safe and orderly dismissal process.' There's currently no threat to the public, police said. Large police presence in Malden for person who fled traffic stop
The Malden Police Department has alerted the public to an increased police presence and helicopter activity in the area of Mountain Avenue. According to the Department's Facebook, the heavy activity is due to an individual who failed to comply with a traffic stop and then fled from the vehicle on foot. Police have set up a perimeter around the area as officers continue their search for the suspect. Out of safety concerns, a nearby Early Learning Center has been put into a shelter-in-place protocol, but police are on location to ensure the safety of the occupants of the building and to conduct an orderly dismissal process.
