Bayer Leverkusen consider Malick Thiaw and Mario Hermoso as new centre back additions

Bayer Leverkusen consider Malick Thiaw and Mario Hermoso as new centre back additions Bayer Leverkusen are continuing their search for another centre back after the departure of Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich was recently announced. A centre back has already been brought into the club as yesterday the signing of Tim Oermann from Bochum was announced. Advertisement Another defender is needed at the club though as Mario Hermoso has now returned from his loan spell in addition to Tah leaving. Despite this, the signing of Hermoso on a permanent deal is being considered. The Spaniard joined Leverkusen for the second half of the 2024/25 season from AS Roma and made seven appearances. Another defender being considered is AC Milan centre back Malick Thiaw. Milan have failed to qualify for European football this season, meaning that some players may have to be sold in order for a rebuild to take place. The 23-year-old has previous experience in German football as he made 61 appearances for Schalke 04. Bayern favourites to land Thiaw ahead of Bundesliga rivals, per BILD

With defensive reinforcements imminent, BILD believe Malick Thiaw is the name headlining Bayern Munich's transfer list. There is initial contact and considerations about the defender, but no concrete offer as of yet has been made. Thiaw is said to feel comfortable in Milan, but if Bayern make a serious push, he'd be open to a return to Germany. Bayern are not alone either, with Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen also interested in the defender valued at €25-30million.

Milan 2-2 Fiorentina: Rossoneri rescue a point after awful start

Serie A | Milan 2-2 Fiorentina: Rossoneri rescue a point after awful start Milan fought back from a disastrous start to hold Fiorentina 2-2 in a thrilling encounter, but the point apiece does little for either of their European ambitions. This was a head-to-head for Europe, as the Rossoneri went into the weekend in ninth place, four points behind their opponents. Fresh off Wednesday's Coppa Italia semi-final 1-1 draw with Inter, they had Alex Jimenez suspended, plus Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Emerson Royal injured, but Tijjani Reijnders shook off a stomach bug to start. Joao Felix and Santiago Gimenez were benched for the second game in a row. The Viola beat Juventus and Atalanta to surge up the table, missing Robin Gosens, Andrea Colpani and Edoardo Bove, while Milan-owned Yacine Adli had barely featured since an ankle injury in early February. Fiorentina took the lead when Yunus Musah gave it away cheaply in the final third, allowing Albert Gudmundsson to break down the left and roll across for a Moise Kean tap-in, but in trying to intercept, Malick Thiaw accidentally bundled it over the line himself. EPA-EFE/Daniel Dal Zennaro Sergio Conceicao rang the alarm bell by hauling Musah off after a nightmare opening 24 minutes, introducing ex-Fiorentina striker Luka Jovic. Luca Ranieri's sliding block prevented Abraham equalising from a Jovic through ball, then Ranieri had the ball in the net with a spectacular curler into the far top corner, but it didn't count over an earlier Parisi foul on Pulisic. Maignan parried the Kean solo effort at the near post, but David De Gea used his leg to parry an Abraham header on Pulisic's cross. Advertisement There was an extraordinary triple opportunity on 56 minutes, as De Gea made the save on the Reijnders effort, then the Pulisic follow-up from point-blank range, before Santiago Gimenez fired onto the side-netting. Maignan also had to use his legs to deny Lucas Beltran from close range, but Milan completed the comeback from 2-0 down to 2-2 with a former Fiorentina player. The Tomori through ball was originally meant for Gimenez, but it went beyond him and Jovic pounced, sweeping past De Gea from eight yards. De Gea also rushed outside his penalty area to make a decisive tackle on Gimenez from a Pulisic ball over the top. The Mexico international landed heavily on his ribs and had to come off. It was end to end, Kean's header straight at Maignan, then Theo Hernandez firing over on the counter, with the Rossoneri goalkeeper getting down for a strong one-handed save on Kean's scorcher. Fiorentina had the ball in the net on 89 minutes with a sensational Dodo volley off the inside of the boot into the roof of the net, but he was offside on the Fagioli pass floated over the top. Milan come from behind to snatch 2-2 draw against Fiorentina

MILAN, Italy, April 5 (Reuters) - AC Milan recovered from conceding two early goals to snatch a 2-2 draw against visiting Fiorentina in Serie A on Saturday as their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League continue to fade. Malick Thiaw gave Fiorentina the lead with an own goal after seven minutes before forward Moise Kean fired a first-time shot from close range to double the visitors' advantage three minutes later. Milan reemerged through a Tammy Abraham strike in the 23rd minute and substitute Luka Jovic levelled with a low effort from around the penalty spot. Milan are ninth in the table on 48 points, four points behind eighth-placed Fiorentina and eight off Bologna in fourth, who have a game in hand.

CorSport: Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen to battle for Thiaw

CorSport: Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen to battle for Thiaw – the details AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw has been subject to some interest from Germany in recent days, and it seems that there will be two battling it out for his signature. This season Thiaw has been quite hit and miss, though recently he has found some consistency in the team, with Sergio Conceiaco picking him quite regularly. It seems this may be the theme for next season, too, with reports suggesting he may not be a starter next season. Advertisement So with this in mind, rumours have suggested that he could move away from Milan in the summer, and there has been some interest already in the German from his home country, as seen by Vincent Kompany watching the defender in midweek. Today, Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News) confirms that there is indeed interest from Bayern Munich in the defender, whose contract expires in 2027. Then, there is also interest from Bayer Leverkusen, who are seeking a replacement for Jonathan Tah, who will leave at the end of the season. A bid of more than €25 million will be needed for the Diavolo to consider allowing him to leave this summer, though there should be no difficulty for either club to stump up that figure for a defender who is still only 23 years old.
