Barcelona move closer to Marcus Rashford loan agreement with Manchester United
Marcus Rashford may be playing UEFA Champions League football after all, as multiple reports say Manchester United and Barcelona have the makings of a loan deal for the 2025-26 season. Our friends at Sky Sports say 'discussions will center on the portion of wage payment and possible compensation should Barcelona not take up the option to buy.' MORE — All completed summer transfers in the Premier League Rashford fell out with Man United boss Ruben Amorim last season and went on loan to Aston Villa for the second half of the campaign, scoring four times with six assists in 17 matches across all competitions. Two of those assists came in Champions League knockout round matches, as Villa beat Club Brugge in the Round of 16 before succumbing to eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals. The 27-year-old Rashford had played the entirety of his career at Old Trafford before the loan, making 426 appearances while becoming an England star (62 caps, 17 goals). Marcus Rashford to Barcelona: Good idea? Rashford has been said to favor a Barca move for some time, and he showed plenty of fuel in the tank during his loan to Villa. The Sky Sports report says that Juventus also looked into signing Rashford, so Man United wasn't completely in the lurch when it came to bargaining power. Yet finding someone to take a lot of his big wage packet is a coup considering Amorim wants nothing to do with the player. Barca have incredible talent out wide, with Lamine Yamal and Raphinha both earning Ballon d'Or talk during the side's La Liga triumph last season. But there are plenty of minutes for wingers given Barcelona's status in so many competitions, and a loan means Rashford won't have to take a pay cut. There are worse ways to spend a move away from your boyhood club than playing on a Champions League favorite.

Man United outcast offered shock Premier League exit route in form of Europe-qualified club
Jadon Sancho will reportedly have the option of continuing plying his trade in the Premier League after learning of new interest from an unlikely suitor. Indeed, the Manchester United outcast is said to have made his way onto the shortlist of Nottingham Forest after they reluctantly sanctioned Anthony Elanga's exit to Newcastle United this month. The report comes via The Sun (relayed by Sky Sports) amid Sancho's ongoing quest to seal a move away from Old Trafford before 2025/2026 gets underway. Jadon Sancho's future: The state of play Sancho last played for United in August 2024 in the Community Shield Final. (Photo by) As things stand, Forest will be playing in the Europa League next season following Crystal Palace's demotion to the UEFA Conference League – a decision that they will continue to protest and appeal. Sancho, meanwhile, is thought to be prioritising a permanent switch to Juventus, although that's likely only because he's garnered such little interest since Chelsea sent him back to Manchester upon the culmination of his loan spell. Talks have been ongoing between United and the Serie A outfit for several weeks now, yet an agreement hasn't materialised, meaning the 25-year-old is still having to report to Carrington to keep up his fitness levels – albeit after Ruben Amorim and the first-team have left the training complex. United ready to wash their hands of Sancho once and for all This summer poses as the last chance United have to recuperate as high a fee a possible for exiled winger ahead of his contract expiring in June 2026. One thing's for sure: wherever he does end up, they won't make anywhere near the ludicrous £73 million they forked out for Sancho back in 2021. He will leave the club with 83 appearances to his name, having scored a measly 12 goals and contributed six assists. Manchester United blow as Brentford increase Bryan Mbeumo asking price amid Newcastle interest in Yoane Wissa
Newcastle's interest in Brentford striker Yoane Wissa is in danger of blocking Bryan Mbeumo's move to Manchester United. The Bees do not want to sell both star forwards in the same summer as they wait for either Newcastle or Man United to meet their who are yet to enter negotiations with Brentford, value Wissa at around £30-35million. Brentford want a fee of around £50m for the 28-year-old, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season, but would be prepared to accept less than their valuation if payment terms were favourable. Man United, meanwhile, have seen the asking price for Mbeumo increased to £70m after two bids for the Cameroonian were knocked back by the west London club. The most recent totalled around £62m, including add-ons. Brentford remain confident in their valuations, with the club holding the option to extend both Mbeumo and Wissa's contracts until 2027. Tottenham were quoted £50m for Wissa earlier in the window and last week rejected a bid in the region of £20million from Nottingham Forest. Talks between Man United and Brentford, which began in June, have stalled. The second, and most recent, bid was rejected around three weeks ago, and there is growing frustration from Mbeumo and Brentford about the slow progress of the deal. Man United's difficulties in tying up a deal for Mbeumo has left the door open for Newcastle and Forest, who retain an interest in Wissa, to sign Brentford's all-time Premier League goalscorer should his valuation be met. Brentford, who have already lost long-serving head coach Thomas Frank and captain Christian Norgaard this summer, could be persuaded into selling both Mbeumo and Wissa. But any deal of that nature would likely see Man United pay significantly over the odds for Mbeumo. Mbeumo and Wissa both returned to training with Brentford as expected on Monday.
