Egypt visit day one 'very productive, fruitful, constructive': Congress MP Manish Tewari

Cairo [Egypt], June 3 (ANI): Congress MP Manish Tewari said the Indian all-party parliamentary delegation began its visit to Egypt with a series of high-level interactions with key members of the Egyptian Parliament and foreign affairs experts, focusing on security cooperation and the fight against state-sponsored terrorism. Tewari while speaking to ANI, informed that as part of their diplomatic outreach, the delegation also visited the Egyptian Council of Foreign Relations, a leading think tank, where they met former Foreign Minister Mohamed Orabi and other senior ambassadors, both serving and retired. 'There was a wide range discussion on regional stability and the need to have a global coalition against state-sponsored terror. So in a sense, the first day was very productive, very fruitful, very constructive,' Tewari stated, reflecting on the day's engagements. MP Tiwari is part of Group 7 of the all-party delegation, led by Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) leader Supriya Sule. Tewari said that the delegation held detailed discussions with members of both the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House of Representatives Foreign Relations Committee of the Egyptian Parliament. 'They were extremely supportive of India's position,' he noted, adding that the Egyptian side also conveyed their condolences over the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which several personnel lost their lives. The delegation also paid floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Al Horreya Garden in Cairo, Egypt. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anurag Thakur, who is a member of the delegation, referred to Pakistan's long-standing involvement in major global terror incidents. 'We had successful meetings here. Cross-border terrorism by Pakistan has become a matter of worry for our country and the entire world. From 9/11 to 26/11, Pakistan has been involved in all such terrorist acts. The way the African Union has defined terrorism, when the countries in the world come together as a global coalition against terrorism, then only we can have a cure for this,' Thakur stated. The all-party delegation led by Supriya Sule also includes Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, Manish Tewari, Anurag Singh Thakur, Lavu Sri Krishna devarayalu, Anand Sharma, former Minister of Commerce & Industry, V Muraleedharan, Former Minister of State for External Affairs, and Syed Akbaruddin, Former Permanent Representative of India to the UN. The delegation aims to brief international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders in key countries. The multi-party delegation, consisting of seven groups led by one MP each, has been initiated to counter global misinformation and highlight India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. (ANI)

BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy highlights international support against terrorism

Addis Ababa [Ethiopia], June 1 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy, a member of the all-party delegation, said on Sunday that Ethiopia and its people stand in solidarity with India against terrorism. Speaking to ANI, he said, 'Across the party lines across all spectrums of the people we met, whether it was intellectuals, policymakers, ministers, government and the media, all are in unison and saying that terror cannot be accepted.' Rudy emphasised that the international community is aware of India's stance on terrorism, particularly after the Pahalgam attack. He added, 'They are absolutely for India when it comes to self-defence. They are aware of what happened in Pahalgam. They say and feel that we should have acted against terror, and they would stand by us as far as terror is concerned.' Highlighting the motive of this diplomatic outreach following Operation Sindoor, he affirmed, 'This campaign and this messaging to the world through the various teams of parliamentarians, senior leaders, and bureaucrats is an exercise that will position Pakistan as a node of terror across the world. It is a great and positive exercise. Thanks to the PM for that.' Meanwhile, Congress MP Manish Tewari said that the delegation met with Policy Institute of Ethiopia, a premier think tank. Tewari stated, 'Today, we were invited by the Policy Institute of Ethiopia. It is a premier think tank. We had intellectuals and policymakers, other stakeholders from all across Ethiopia who congregated here.' 'There was a vibrant discussion as to how India and Africa can collaborate in creating an upscaling, a global convention, against state sponsored terror so that this menace of export of terror, which is unique to India in the context of South Asia but is also happening in other parts of the world, can be fully and finally proscribed and consigned to the dustbin of history,' he added. The Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP-SCP) MP Supriya Sule-led delegation is in Ethiopia. The delegation includes Rajiv Pratap Rudy (BJP), Vikramjit Singh Sahney (AAP), Manish Tewari (Congress), Anurag Singh Thakur (BJP), Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu (TDP), Anand Sharma (Congress), V Muraleedharan (BJP), and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin. The delegation had arrived at Bole International Airport in Ethiopia on Friday, where they welcomed by the Ambassador of India to Ethiopia, Anil Kumar Rai. Recently, the delegation concluded its diplomatic visit to South Africa with a series of meetings at India House in Pretoria, the administrative capital of South Africa, involving political leaders, think tanks, and the Indian diaspora. In a diplomatic outreach following Operation Sindoor, the Modi government has formed seven multi-party delegations to inform nations about Pakistan's links to terrorism and India's strong message of zero tolerance for terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. Seven all-party delegations are taking part in various outreach programmes in the countries they are assigned to. The delegations aim to brief international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its fight against cross-border terrorism. The seven delegations are visiting Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Algeria, the UK, France, Germany, the EU, Italy, Denmark, Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Singapore, the UAE, Liberia, Congo, Sierra Leone, the US, Panama, Guyana, Brazil, Colombia, Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, Russia, Egypt, Qatar, Ethiopia, and South Africa. Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack by Pak-sponsored terrorists in which 26 people were killed. Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the death of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. "What happened in Pahalgam was travesty and depravity of different order": Manish Tewari

Addis Ababa [Ethiopia], June 1 (ANI): Congress MP Manish Tewari, member of the Group 7 all-party delegation led by NCP-SCP Supriya Sule, said India's response was aimed at protecting the nation's sovereignty and ensuring such brutal acts against civilians do not happen again. He also described the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir as a travesty and a grave act of depravity. 'What happened in Pahalgam, J&K on 22nd April was a travesty and a depravity of a different order altogether. People were identified based on their faith, executed at point-blank range in front of their families, and the families were told-take this message back to your political leadership. And therefore the response that India initiated between the 7th and 10th of May was to protect and preserve our sovereignty, our territorial integrity as a nation and more importantly to try and make sure that our innocent civilians are not targeted in the barbaric manner they were killed in cold blood just because they happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time under those circumstances,' Tewari said. He added that the delegation is travelling worldwide to gather support for a global fight against terrorism. 'The reason why these delegations have travelled far and wide to various corners of the world is to try and reach out to friends, interlocutors, influential nations, civil society, parliamentarians, government ministers, political parties to try and explore the urgent need to create a global coalition against state-sponsored terror,' Tewari said. Speaking to ANI, he said, 'Ethiopia has appreciated the Indian position as well as the actions that we have taken in our self-defence. We have had a civilizational relationship with Ethiopia.' 'The relationship is symbiotic, people-to-people, got-to-got, and there has been an absolutely seamless, friendly interaction between the people of India and Ethiopia,' he added. Highlighting the series of productive meetings in Ethiopia, Tewari, stated, 'Since yesterday, we have had a series of very productive meetings in Addis Ababa. We met the former PM of Ethiopia. Today, in the morning, we called on the Deputy Chairperson of their ruling party. We had a very productive meeting in the African Union. Now, we have just finished our meeting with the Speaker in their Parliament.' 'Ethiopia has reaffirmed its support against all forms of terrorism. 'India Reserves The Right To Act': In South Africa, Manish Tewari Warns Pakistan Against Terrorism

Last Updated: Congress MP Manish Tewari in Johannesburg warned that India reserves the right to act if Pakistan continues using terrorism as state policy. Congress leader Manish Tewari, who is part of the all-party delegation visiting key capitals, including South Africa, as part of the Modi government's big diplomatic outreach, has said India reserves the right to act against Pakistan if the neighbouring country continues to use terrorism as an instrument of state policy. Speaking in Johannesburg, the Congress MP also reiterated that the Indian delegations have leaders from different political parties, but stand united in India's message in dealing with cross-border terrorism. 'On this platform, you have people representing different political parties, from the government to the Opposition. This delegation is led by our honourable colleague, Mrs Supriya Sule, who is the floor leader of one Opposition party in the Parliament," Tewari said. 'I represent the principal Opposition party in the Parliament. My colleague here, Mr Vikramjeet Singh Sahni, is also from another Opposition party," he added. 'Both our colleagues, or three of our colleagues, are from the Bharatiya Janata Party, which is the ruling party." 'So, the manner in which this delegation has been structured, and the way it has been constituted, is to convey a national resolve, that if terrorism keeps getting perpetrated against India from across the border, if Pakistan continues to use terrorism as an instrument of state policy, if you have a state on our western border where there is no distinction between the state and the semi-state actors and it spawns, then under those circumstances, it is our national resolve that under no circumstances would that be tolerable," Manish Tewari said. 'India then reserves the right to energise the full spectrum of options that are available to it, in order to protect and defend itself as its national interest," he added. On Thursday, Tewari had said that Pakistan has been behaving and acting like a 'rogue state". He also said that Pakistan-sponsored terrorism has been creating 'instability" in Afghanistan and Iran as well. The delegation, led by Supriya Sule, includes Members of Parliament Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, Manish Tewari, Anurag Singh Thakur, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, Anand Sharma, former Minister of Commerce and Industry, V Muraleedharan, Former Minister of State for External Affairs, and Syed Akbaruddin, Former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations. India launched 'Operation Sindoor' against Pakistan on the intervening night of May 6 and 7, days after Pakistan resorted to a terror attack in Kashmir's iconic Pahalgam, killing 26 innocent tourists. More than 100 terrorists and multiple terror infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) were destroyed in the strikes by India.
