Ahead of PM's visit, MP LoP Umang Singhar questions govt on women welfare, demands answers on key schemes

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh) [India], May 30 (ANI): Madhya Pradesh Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Congress MLA Umang Singhar on Friday raised a series of pointed questions ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bhopal, where he would address a women-centric program on Devi Ahilyabai Holkar's 300th birth anniversary. Speaking to ANI, Singhar said, 'PM Modi is coming to talk about women empowerment, but I want to ask him directly--will Ladli Behans actually receive Rs 3,000 under the Ladli Behna Yojana? Will self-help groups (SHGs) of women, who do not have employment and are running only on paper, receive any real financial assistance? Will they be connected to livelihood? PM Modi should tell us.' Singhar also criticised the BJP, accusing it of prioritising image-building over substance. 'Why has the government stopped providing benefits under the Ujjwala Yojana? Will the cylinders, which are kept empty, be refilled again? Will inflation be reduced in the state and the nation? We see there is a shortage of urea. Will Madhya Pradesh get urea? Will the income of farmers double? What support will farmers and small businesses receive through MSMEs in Madhya Pradesh? Your government has also reduced funds allocated to MGNREGA and tribal welfare schemes. Today, the BJP has become a party focused only on advertisements. It has become a party above public sentiment,' the Congress leader said. The Congress leader further alleged that the BJP government has disrespected women. 'A female army officer was insulted (referring to MP minister Vijay Shah's remark against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi), who is a daughter of Madhya Pradesh. Will PM Modi ask for Vijay Shah's resignation? I think PM Modi talks about something in the Mann ki Baat program, but has something else in his inner heart,' he added. PM Modi will address the 'Women Empowerment Maha Sammelan' program at Jamboree Ground in Bhopal on May 31. The event, centered on women, is expected to witness the participation of around two lakh women from across the state. (ANI)

Op Sindoor reflects India's resolve, courage and patriotism: PM Modi in Mann ki Baat

New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said Operation Sindoor is not just a military mission but also reflects India's unwavering resolve, courage and the spirit of a nation in transformation. Speaking during the 122nd episode of his monthly radio address, Mann ki Baat, the Prime Minister said, Operation Sindoor has united the nation in its stand against terrorism and infused the entire country with a renewed sense of patriotism. 'Today, the whole country is united against terrorism, filled with anger and resolve. Every Indian holds the same determination — that terrorism must be eradicated,' he said. Lauding the valour and precision of the Indian Armed Forces, Modi said, 'The precision and accuracy with which our forces destroyed the terrorist hideouts across the border is amazing.' He emphasised that the success of the mission has boosted global confidence in India's fight against terrorism. Highlighting the role of indigenous technology and equipment in the operation, the Prime Minister said the mission showcased the power of Atmanirbhar Bharat. 'This victory bears the imprint of our engineers, technicians, and the strength of Indian-made weapons and systems,' he said. Modi further added that the campaign has sparked a new wave of enthusiasm for the "Vocal for Local" movement. Citing public responses, he shared how citizens are pledging to support Indian products - from choosing Indian-made toys for their children to vacationing and celebrating weddings within the country. Modi said, 'A parent remarked. We will now buy toys only made in India for our children. Patriotism will start from childhood. Some families have taken a pledge that we will spend our next vacation in some beautiful place in our country". "Many young persons have taken a pledge to 'Wed in India'… that they would get married in the country itself. Someone also said, 'Now whatever gift we will give, it will be made by an Indian artisan,' the PM said. 'This is the real strength of India — the connection between people and minds. Public participation is our power,' Modi said, urging citizens to prioritise locally made products as a step towards nation-building and economic self-reliance. 'Let us take a pledge — wherever possible in our lives, we will give preference to Indian-made goods. This is not just economic self-reliance; it is our contribution to the country's progress,' he added. UNI RBE SSP

"My work has been acknowledged today, I'm happy about it..." says folk artist Jeevan Joshi as PM Modi lauds his journey in 'Mann Ki Baat'

Haldwani (Uttarakhand) [India], May 25(ANI): Polio-affected folk artist Jeevan Chandra Joshi from Uttarakhand's Haldwani was hailed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his monthly radio program 'Mann Ki Baat' on Sunday. Despite living with physical challenges due to polio, Joshi (65) has spent more than three decades developing a rare art form he calls 'Baget' -- a craft where he turns the dry bark of pine trees into meaningful art. While speaking to ANI, Joshi said he is happy that his work is now being 'acknowledged.' 'I have been doing this work for 30-35 years... I give training to children. Today, my work has been acknowledged. I am happy with this... I wish to open a training centre soon.' During the 122nd episode of Mann ki Baat on Sunday, PM Modi lauded Joshi's journey and praised his strength despite being affected by polio, making it difficult for him to walk. 'I want to tell you about a wonderful person who is an artist as well as a living inspiration. His name is Jeevan Joshi; he is 65 years old. Now imagine how full of life someone must be if they have 'Jeevan' in their name. Jeevan ji lives in Haldwani, Uttarakhand. During his childhood, polio took away the strength of his legs, but polio could not steal his courage,' PM Modi said. The Prime Minister hailed Joshi for his aspirations to fly high despite enduring challenges due to the highly infectious disease that has affected his leg 'Even though his walking speed slowed down, his mind kept soaring on every flight of imagination. In this flight, Jeevan ji gave birth to a unique art... he named it 'Baget.' In this, he makes beautiful art pieces from the dry bark that falls off pine trees. The very bark, which people generally consider useless, becomes a heritage as soon as it comes into Jeevan ji's hands,' PM Modi added. Praising Jeevan Joshi, PM Modi said his work is not just art but a 'sadhna.' 'Every creation of his bears the fragrance of the soil of Uttarakhand. Sometimes it is the folk instruments of the hills, and at times, it seems as if the soul of the hills has permeated that wood. Jeevan ji's work is not just art; it is a sadhana,' he added. (ANI)
