Maalik opened to a modest Rs 3.75 crore on its first Friday but picked up momentum over the weekend, collecting Rs 5.25 crore each on Saturday and Sunday. Despite a predictable dip during the weekdays, the film maintained a steady pace, aided by decent word of mouth and positive critical reception. The second weekend added around Rs 2.25 crore to its kitty, bringing the total to Rs 23.54 crore, nudging past Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (Rs 22.45 crore) to enter Rajkummar Rao's top 10 film got massively impacted by Mohit Suri 's Saiyaara starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda . Set against a politically charged backdrop, Maalik tells a story rooted in power, ambition, and societal upheaval. The actor's top-grossing film remains the recent mega-hit Stree 2, which raked in a record-breaking Rs 597.99 crore, followed by Stree (Rs 129.83 crore), Bhool Chuk Maaf (Rs 72.73 crore), and Srikanth (Rs 48.07 crore). Other notable grossers include Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (Rs 42.09 crore) and Mr. & Mrs. Mahi (Rs 36.34 crore). With Maalik now in the mix, it becomes evident that the actor's appeal is expanding beyond niche content to commercially viable stories with substance. The film also marks a key moment for Manushi Chhillar, who continues to explore diverse roles post her debut. Prosenjit Chatterjee's presence adds gravitas, and Pulkit's direction—best known for his earlier work on Maroon—has been widely appreciated for its restraint and realism.

Manushi Chhillar Reacts To Maalik's Underwhelming Box Office: 'Film Isn't Family-Friendly'

Manushi Chhillar says she'd love Maalik to be a blockbuster, but admits box office success depends on many uncontrollable factors beyond quality. Former Miss World and actor Manushi Chhillar has been wooing the audience with her acting career, and most recently, she was seen in Maalik co-starring Rajkummar Rao. But the recently released gangster drama has had rather underwhelming box office results, and Manushi is quite aware of it and doesn't shy away from accepting it. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Manushi opened up about the underwhelming box office performance of the film and shared how it doesn't bother her. When asked if the underwhelming box office ever impacts her, she said, 'With a movie like this? No, not really. Because as an actor, your job is to deliver the best, to be the character in the best possible way. One has to realise that many, many things create a blockbuster, and it's not just the quality of the film. And honestly, it is timing. Also, Maalik is not a family-friendly film. Maalik is A-rated. That automatically cuts down the audience." Manushi further continued and shared, for job satisfaction, 'You would love your film to be a blockbuster, but I would say that every film might not open to those numbers due to many, many reasons, which you don't have any control over." 'But I think I still feel very content as an actor because I know that I've done my job, and I've done it in the best possible manner," she explained. Further, while talking about how people are praising her performance in the film, she said, 'I can't tell you the number of people who have been reaching out to me after watching Maalik. And these are general people, not just loving Shalini, but loving the film. This is happening to me for the very first time. And when you know that people who watched the film have liked your character, it's a very big win." About Maalik Apart from Rajkummar Rao and Manushi Chhillar, the film also stars Saurabh Shukla and Saurabh Sachdeva in pivotal roles. Maalik is a hard-hitting tale of ambition, power, and survival. Directed by Pulkit, the film marks his first theatrical release. Known for his hard-hitting thrillers and emotionally charged dramas, the film is produced by Kumar Taurani under the Tips Films banner, along with Jay Shewakramani of Northern Lights Films.
