Manchester City Urged To Move In For This Crystal Palace Defender: Should Pep Go For Him?
In a recent interview with Sports Mole, Stuart Pearce urged his former club to move in for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi this summer. Pearce said, 'When they won the Champions League a couple of years ago, I think they won it on being very, very tough to score against. 'That was their key that season. Everything fell into place. 'The back four was pretty consistent and played extremely well together. Kyle Walker dealt with any problems. They had that extra bit at the back. That was their strong card. 'It does worry me a little bit. If I was in their situation, Marc Guehi would be one I would go after. I'm a big fan of this kid. He's got the ability to deal with things one-on-one on the counter-attack. 'You've got to be good at that if you're a Manchester City player in the expansive way they play. But if anything's going to be their Achilles heel, it's going to be that back line again.' Guehi's Impressive Form In English Football Last Season The English defensive ace had a solid campaign at the London club after he put in a string of impressive displays for them on the defensive third of the pitch. Guehi deserves a ton of credit for helping Crystal Palace win the FA Cup last season. He netted three times and picked up a couple of assists in 44 appearances for the Eagles in the previous campaign across various competitions. (Photo by) The 25-year-old was a rock at the back and did well to make 61 tackles, 55 blocks and 28 interceptions in Premier League football. Guehi was even tidy when distributing possession after completing 83.5% of his attempted passes in the English first division (stats via Should Manchester City Boss Pep Guardiola Go For Guehi? Guehi is a solid tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn't mind clearing the danger when required and can play his way out from the back. Guehi would add a lot of quality to Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola's defence. He is good enough to secure a regular starting place at the Etihad Stadium next season. At 25, Guehi has his peak years ahead of him which makes him an excellent option for the Mancunian giants to pursue this summer. Hence, Guardiola should focus on listening to Pearce's advice by going for a defender of his skill set this off-season.

Fresh Liverpool transfer stance on Marc Guehi as Arne Slot eyes cut-price deal
Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move for Marc Guehi but do not agree with Crystal Palace's price tag as the defender's contract enters its final 12 months Liverpool remain keen on landing Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace but do not agree with their £40million valuation given he is available for nothing come next summer. They also want to avoid a lengthy saga should they pursue the centre-half. The Eagles defender has established himself as an England regular and is one of the leading lights at Selhurst Park, captaining them on the FA Cup only months ago. However Guehi has no desire to sign a new deal in south London and could leave for free in 12 months. It would represent a huge loss for Palace, who turned down the chance to land £65m from Newcastle when they chased Guehi last summer. If Liverpool are to move for the defender then it will revolve solely around the price being quoted. The Reds have already spent £200m this summer but are keen on making additions to their defence. Guehi has a lot of positives going for him but those on Merseyside have little interest in negotiations that drag on for weeks, reports the BBC. As it stands Liverpool believe Palace's asking price of £40m is too high given his situation and the prospect of signing him for free later down the line. Tottenham, Newcastle and Chelsea have all registered varying degrees of interest in Guehi since the end of the season. The defender was once on the Blues' books and the west Londoners have made a habit of letting players go only to re-sign them later in their careers. Liverpool themselves have several moving pieces when it comes to their defensive picture. They have allowed Jarell Quansah to leave for Bayer Leverkusen this summer and, as things stand, Ibrahima Konate is out of contract next summer and has shown little interest in signing a new deal. He is thought to be keen on a move to Real Madrid. Joe Gomez is again dealing with an injury issue, which leaves Virgil van Dijk as the team's defensive leader. However landing Guehi to partner the Dutchman could prove a huge coup for the Premier League champions. Palace face the risk of losing several of their major names this summer. 12 months ago they saw Michael Olise leave and Eberechi Eze is now heavily being courted by Arsenal with the player himself keen on making the move across London. What position of power does Guehi hold?
Marc Guehi has fewer than 12 months on his contract, meaning he can leave for nothing next summer - a prospect that would represent a huge financial loss to Crystal Palace given they turned down a deal of around £65m from Newcastle for Guehi in things stand, there are no signs Guehi is prepared to extend his contract, though Palace are obviously keen to discuss a new have a genuine interest in Guehi this the level of the Merseyside club's interest will be dictated by cost. Liverpool don't want to get drawn into a long saga over Guehi's valuation and will only move if they believe the fee represents that the defender can join them for nothing next are believed to want around £40m for Guehi, but Liverpool want to pay less than that Newcastle and Chelsea have all registered varying degrees of interest in Guehi since the end of the finds himself in a unique position of power: a homegrown player in the final year of his comes with a delicate balance of trying to maximise the situation he is in, but also acknowledge that certain chances do not come around all too the opportunity to join the Premier League champions, particularly given their exciting summer additions that could yet include Alexander Isak, is one Guehi would likely give serious consideration another option open to Guehi is to see out the final season of his deal with a view to leaving on a free transfer next options would certainly enhance in that scenario. The financial packages on offer would also be more are risks attached to that, of course, injury being the main more from Sami on Palace here

Arne Slot urged to U-turn on Liverpool transfer as January option emerges
Liverpool have enjoyed a productive summer transfer window but are yet to bolster the heart of their defence despite being linked with Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi Liverpool don't need to rush out and buy a new defender this summer, claims former Reds' No 1 David James - who believes Arne Slot's side will be able to rely on outscoring opponents for now. The Reds have spent heavily this summer, parting with well over £200million. That has seen them bring in the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz. Now their attention has turned to Alexander Isak with the prolific Swede open to leaving Newcastle this summer. Anfield is seen as his most likely destination and that would further bolster a Liverpool attack that already includes the likes of Mohamed Salah. Slot though has sanctioned the departure of Jarell Quansah whilst Ibrahima Konate, whose contract expires next summer, continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid in 12 months time. That has led to Liverpool's interest in Crystal Palace skipper Marc Guehi. James though maintains that Liverpool's defence will more than hold up for the early part of the season with their backline unlikely to face its toughest tests until the latter stages of the Champions League, giving them time to source reinforcements. He said: 'You'd think their offence will always be better than the opposition's defence and they will be able to out-score other teams except for the occasional game. 'The idea Liverpool have to have the best defence would be wonderful, but I don't think they have to rush into buying someone. It might be something that happens in January. The end of the Champions League campaign is naturally when you come up against better teams and your defensive issues can be called into question. 'I imagine they will have so much success anyway they won't feel they have to desperately go out and buy someone and looking at the signings there doesn't appear to be any desperation so far.' Guehi has just captained the Eagles to the FA Cup but doesn't have plans to extend his deal at Selhurst Park, which expires in a year. He hasn't ruled out the possibility of running down his contract which would make him a free agent next summer. Virgil van Dijk remains the team's defensive leader and he recently signed a new deal. Joe Gomez, who has been hampered by fitness issues for years, has just left the team's pre-season camp with an injury problem.

Liverpool offered HOPE in deal for 18-year-old prodigy
Liverpool have been tipped to move for a new centre-back this summer. While the focus in recent days has been on Alexander Isak, ongoing issues in the middle of the defensive line could bring forth a move for a new stopper. Jarell Quansah has been sold to Bayer Leverkusen - and still hasn't been replaced - while Joe Gomez is once again injured. It means Arne Slot will be heavily reliant on both Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate unless movement is made in that sector. LFC x New Era Shop Now LFC Signed Merch Shop Now LFC x Titleist Shop Now Liverpool could move for Marc Guehi before the transfer deadline - or else they could opt for a long-term investment in the position. Giovanni Leoni was one name linked earlier this summer - although it appeared he was destined to link up with Cristian Chivu at Inter. Leoni linked with Inter The former Parma head coach oversaw Leoni's development last season - and the 18-year-old reportedly sees Inter as the right step for the next phase of his career. But he won't wait forever - and it could open the door for Liverpool or one of the other English suitors for Leoni. Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Inter are struggling to raise the cash required to sign Leoni. Parma value Leoni around the €35m mark and unless Inter complete some major outgoing business they are unlikely to afford him. Bear in mind the Champions League finalists have also got plans to add Ademola Lookman. Their financial conundrum could open the door for the Reds to make a bid. Premier League teams can outbid Inter 'Parma's star player has pledged himself to the Nerazzurri,' the report reads. 'And there's no backtracking on that promise, having even agreed to wait for Marotta, Ausilio, and Baccin to raise the necessary funds through transfers. 'And it's clear that the "firepower" available to English clubs is significantly greater than that of Italian clubs. In short, if necessary, they would have no problem putting on the table the €35 million Parma is demanding to let him go.'
