Violet Affleck rocks $800 clothing item after getting into climate change argument with mom Jennifer Garner
Violet Affleck was seen rocking a pricey luxury clothing item just weeks after she aired out an argument she had with mom Jennifer Garner. The 19-year-old Yale college student — who has been spotted toting designer items in recent outings — notably sparked outrage over an essay for school where she candidly revealed a disagreement she had with Garner. According to the teen, the past incident had taken place amid the devastating LA fires in January after her family was forced to evacuate. Violet stepped out for a coffee run on Monday with a close pal and sported luxe Chloe Nama shoes that are priced around $800, per the brand's official website. She completed the ensemble with a yellow printed shirt and denim jeans as she continues to enjoy her summer break from university. Last week, the eldest child of Jennifer and Ben Affleck was also seen on a daytime excursion with a vintage Chloe Marcie Bucket Bag, which can be purchased at a resale price for around $1,000. And during Monday's outing, Violet was seen pairing her outfit with the same luxe purse. Days earlier, she was also spotted with a pricy Marc Jacobs bag, which is worth between $200–$300. She carried the item as she joined both her Oscar-winning father and little brother Samuel, 13, for a lowkey lunch. Affleck and Garner — whose divorce was finalized in 2018 — are also parents to child Fin, 16. The former couple were recently seen reuniting over the past weekend to run errands together. The 13 Going On 30 actress looked stern as she stepped into a sleek black SUV which was being driven by Ben at the time. It came not long after Violet went viral after penning a 'woke' essay for school over climate change and left her parents taken aback since they were not aware what their daughter had written, exclusively reported. She had turned in the paper for her university's Global Health Review which was titled A Chronically Ill Earth: COVID Organizing as a Model Climate Response in Los Angeles. The college student has been vocal about her advocacy for both climate change and public health, such as the student demanding 'mask mandates' last year during an impassioned speech. The Gen Z nepo baby detailed an argument that she had with her mom Jennifer Garner in the wake of the deadly fires that ravaged through Southern California at the beginning of the year. She had stated that while Garner was left 'shell-shocked' over the devastation, Violet admitted that she was simply 'surprised at her surprise.' In the paper which was published on May 18, the student wrote of Garner: 'She was shell-shocked, astonished at the scale of destruction in the neighborhood where she raised myself and my siblings. 'I was surprised at her surprise: as a lifelong Angelena and climate-literate member of generation Z, my question had not been whether the Palisades would burn but when.' Violet then recalled having conversations with adults while staying at a hotel with her family to 'escape the smoke.' 'Though, I found my position to be an uncommon one: people spoke of how long rebuilding would take, how much it would cost, and how tragically odd the whole situation had been. 'The crisis was acute, a burst of bad luck. It had come from a combination of high winds and low rains.' The college student has been vocal about her advocacy for both climate change and public health - such as the student demanding 'mask mandates' last year during an impassioned speech The Yale student also wrote about how her younger brother Samuel had doubts that the fires were linked to climate change. 'Hopefully, most of us understand the climate crisis better than my little brother,' she added. Garner had volunteered with World Central Kitchen in the wake of the disaster to help feed firefighters and victims of the flames. During an emotional interview with MSNBC, the actress also revealed that she had lost a friend in the fires. At the time of the flames in January, Violet had also 'pressured' her family into wearing face masks once again due to poor air quality. A source told 'Violet Affleck has been pressuring her family to put a mask on since she has been back home because right now the air quality is unhealthy. 'She is clearly not going to give up on advocating for mask mandates. It has become a part of who she is and what she stands for.' The insider added that the college student 'is so passionate about this and she feels vindicated for her work championing masks because she does, truly, believe that her opposition to the ban is warranted. 'She is hoping the fires will serve to show people that masks can be used in times not only connected to the spread of a virus.' In July of 2024, Violet had asked that 'mask bans' come to an end inside medical facilities during a speech to the governing body for Los Angeles County. She further asked the board to 'confront the long COVID crisis' and explained how she had contracted 'a post-viral condition' back in 2019. The teenager said at the time, 'I demand mask availability, air filtration and Far-UVC light in government facilitates, including jails and detention centers, and mask mandates in county medical faculties. 'You must expand the availability of high-quality free tests and treatment, and most importantly the county must oppose mask bans for any reason. They do not keep us safer.' Violet's speech garnered differing reactions, with some praising the Ivy League student. However, others described her as 'utterly deluded.' Her father Ben also gave his eldest child a warning and told her that she needed to be 'realistic,' a source told Last year during an interview with People, Garner got candid about raising her three kids and shared that she found it 'hard' to let them make their own decisions as they get older. 'I'm just watching them in this new phase of life where they're figuring out who they're going to be and what they're going to study,' she explained. 'And I'm so interested in them. All the time, I'm interested in everything about them.' The actress later admitted to the outlet, 'I have a really hard time not saying, "This is what I see you as," and "I think you should." I really have to sit on my hand.'

A Mismatched Outfit Is A Key Summer Trend - How To Look Like You've Dressed In The Dark (In A Good Way)
A sartorial insult has become a fashion compliment. Telling someone that they look like they got 'dressed in the dark' is no longer a slur intended to imply that someone looks like they assembled an outfit without the benefit of light. Today, it's a knowing styling approach that's come direct from the catwalk. FIND OUT MORE AT ELLE COLLECTIVE This season, designers are encouraging us to mix and match our wildest pieces for maximum impact. They're telling us to wear our favourites all at once with unconstrained abandon and the art of it all happens in the clash. This means that it might be that you're now wearing a striped rugby jersey, that's been your Saturday morning market pullover for aeons, but with a sequin skirt in a standout colour. Or, there's a floral dress worn with a contrast coat. And not forgetting to complete the look with a further contrasting striped scarf. Both of these formulas lifted from Milanese cool label No21. But this brand is far from alone in putting forward this pile-it-all-on approach for the season. Others on board include Versace, where Donatella mixed prints and textures first found in a 1997 Versus collection. The same happened at Miu Miu, where its archive fabrics clashed with new patterns, and then were paired with chunky loafers and uniform-issue black socks. This idea of 'dressing in the dark' styling makes a timely arrival as we all tire of the polished perfection that's been championed in the 'quiet luxury' and 'clean girl aesthetic' trends. Sure, there's always a moment for minimalism but this look promotes a slightly more chaotic approach that celebrates a creativity and self-expression that had somewhat disappeared in the land of perfectly polite white shirts, navy trousers, and camel cashmere. I'll admit that this trend piqued my interest as soon as SS25 imagery started to land on my desk. The appeal of this came not only in the way that it felt fresh and fun, but also in the way it could (and now has) encouraged me to make better use of my whole wardrobe. I've always had a bit of a formulaic approach to getting dressed with X things bought to be worn with Y and so on and so forth. But with this shake-it-up attitude dictating how I'm re-seeing my wardrobe, I'm doing away with the formulas that once shaped my style. Just yesterday, a Marc Jacobs yellow and brown Heaven skirt was worn with pink M&S cashmere and blue and silver dad-style Asics. Might I have done this before? Probably not, but it felt good to have fun with the clash and get more wear out of what I already have. Nothing was new and yet the combination was so I got that same dopamine rush that a new purchase guarantees. It's made me realise that many of the most stylish people I know (or admire) have long got dressed following this approach, understanding that it's so much more fun to wear all of your favourite things all at once. Chloë Sevigny is on board. A recent look from Vaquera, that despite being lifted from the runway, speaks of this clashing approach. Understandably, wearing this trend for at least the very first time will come with some trepidation. Of late, most of the trends we've been encouraged to try have come with an easy-to-emulate formula that can be lifted straight — think barrel leg jeans or silver shoes. This one is a bit more complicated to try as you wonder how much is too much clash and when does a mix-and-match outfit simply become... a mess. In order to pull of 'dressing in the dark' styling you need to only choose from pieces that you'd have always have worn if they were presented in more paired-back settings. Have fun with your decisions if you are buying something new and choosing bright and bold pieces that bring personality to an ensemble. Ultimately though, there's no point putting on something overtly avant garde if you aren't comfortable wearing it. Like with most runway trends, this is more about the confidence of how you're wearing it than what you are actually wearing. Get ready to rumble in your own jumble. Just as flip-flops have staged a triumphant return this season, another nostalgic Y2K trend is now following suit: the anklet. From runways to celebrities and style influencers, the anklet trend has been slowly reemerging in newly imagined forms with modern, elevated twists. Think freshwater pearl accents, delicate gold box chains, and grown-up takes on the vibrant beads that once ruled summer camp. The latest A-lister to confirm the anklet revival for summer 2025? Gigi Hadid. More from WWD We Tested Dozens of SPF Lip Balms - These Are the Tinted Ones You'll Want to Reapply. Buy Now at havianas $20 $20 Gigi is hardly the first celebrity to co-sign the return of anklets (though everyone knows that once a Hadid wears something, it *really* takes a trend to new heights). Earlier this year, Kylie Jenner attended Chanel's spring 2025 couture show wearing a mini skirt suit that she accessorized with a Chanel double-wrap chain anklet and pumps. The elevated styling of her look proved that today's wave of anklets aren't just reserved for the beach, instead they serve as a chic way to upgrade even your best heels. (Taking a beachier route, however, her older sister Kim hit the actual beach just last month wearing stacks of diamond anklets.) During a time when fashion is gravitating towards towards playful, childlike fun — from the Labubu takeover to jelly sandals to bag and shoe charms — it's no surprise that yet another throwback trend of our youth is back on the scene. But the beauty of this particular anklet resurgence is the range of style in which you have to choose from — jewelry brands like Jenny Bird are leaning into luxe, minimalist anklets with stunning and simple gold and silver chain designs to choose from, while brands like Dorsey and Free People are taking a campier route (literal summer camp, that is) with new takes on beaded and charmed anklets. Whether you're looking for something minimal and sleek to top off your ballet flats and pumps, or you prefer the Gigi Hadid route of beaded anklets paired with casual flip-flops, this season is full of chic anklet options to shop. I Saw Gigi Hadid Wearing a Mini Dress and Flip-Flops, So I Bought a Mini Dress and Flip-Flops
"Hearst Magazines and Yahoo may earn commission or revenue on some items through these links." Flip-flops are a polarizing shoe choice. I'll give you that. But, no matter where you fall in the footwear debate (hate to love 'em, love to hate 'em), the flip-flops trend is back in a big way. Gigi Hadid is just the latest celeb to sport the style—add Jennifer Aniston and her go-to $50 pair to that list too—and, TBH, she's convincing me to let my own dawgs out as well.$20.00 at The supermodel was spotted in NYC Wednesday night heading into Soho's Altro Paradiso to celebrate her new Havaianas collab. Naturally, she sported the rubber sandals for the occasion. Hadid styled her flip-flops with an embellished tweed Marc Jacobs mini dress—which is already sold out, I checked—and a vibrant beaded Staud Timmy Bag for the most unexpected high-low look that, somehow, totally worked. She even paired the beachy elevated 'fit with beaded jewelry and bright yellow nails that matched her shoes to a T. Gigi's Top Flip-Flops aren't a style or color from her actual collab (we'll get to those in a min), but the shoe is arguably the brand's most iconic design. It features Havaianas' signature rubber sole and tonal logo with a monochrome shade, whether you go for Hadid's bright yellow hue or one of the other many options. The material is slip-resistant and waterproof, making them ideal for a poolside hang—or, in Gigi's case, a rainy NYC day—while the sandal also features a v comfy cushioned footbed. Shoppers can attest to this, too. One says the flip-flops are "never a fail" even after "20+ years," and another adds that they're "the best quality footwear" they've ever tried. "They are firm and thick, which means your feet don't get blistered and sore," the reviewer says. "I have loved my Havaianas since I first discovered them many decades ago," a customer writes. "I always use them at home and on the beach. Love their many colors and the fact that they make my feet feel free." As for Hadid's collab with Havaianas, the new global brand ambassador unveiled her co-designed collection in March. The line features retro-inspired silhouettes and shades that really capture her effortless style. "Whether it's my shorts to go to volleyball practice, or jeans to go get a smoothie, or a dress, it feels like me to put on Havaianas," Hadid told Elle earlier this spring. She added that the brand is "iconic for a reason."$26.00 at at at at My two cents? If Gigi Hadid and Jennifer Aniston are both onboard with flip-flops, so am I.
