Dillian Whyte's ex-coach finally reveals story behind viral clip of him hilariously drowning boxer with water in corner
MARK TIBBS has finally revealed the hilarious story behind the viral clip of him almost drowning Dillian Whyte with water in the corner. Tibbs spent four years and 11 unbeaten fights with Whyte before their split in 2020. 6 6 6 The final bout the two had together was in Saudi Arabia against 6ft 7in Polish veteran Mariusz Wach - where Whyte laboured to a points win. But perhaps the most memorable moment of the bout was Whyte's reaction to Tibbs going overboard with the water in the corner. The clip went viral and still remains a classic boxing meme to this day. But Tibbs - who joined SunSport's latest No Glove Lost episode ahead of Whyte's fight against Moses Itauma - has explained what really happened. The esteemed trainer had spotted an unwelcome character in their corner trying to have a conversation with Whyte in between rounds. So Tibbs was instructing his assistant Xavier Miller to get rid of the mystery man distracting his boxer. Preoccupied with doing so, he doused Whyte with a little too much water, sparking the iconic reaction. Tibbs told us: "We had to focus and concentrate and I live it in that corner and we had no security in the corner, it was pretty early days in Saudi then. 6 Moses Itauma vs Dillian Whyte - all the info One of the biggest fights of the year has arrived The highly-touted Moses Itauma faces the biggest test of his fledgling career as he steps into the ring with Dillian Whyte on Saturday night. Itauma, 20, has great expectations on his shoulders - he has been compared to Mike Tyson and is expected by many to dominate boxing's heavyweight division over the next decade. But the Slovakian-born star - who sits at 12-0 (10KOs) is yet to face a test anywhere close to what Whyte can offer. The Body Snatcher is now 37 and has not looked great in his last couple of fights, but the former world title challenger knows an upset win would catapult him right back to the top table. LATEST NEWS "There was a man standing there, for one or two rounds in between rounds trying to have a conversation with Dillian. "So I went, f***ing - excuse my language - get rid of this geezer! What are you doing? Get hold of him, get rid of him. If he wins I will fight him Chisora | No Glove Lost: Itauma vs Whyte fight preview | Sun Sport "We had to focus. We had no security in the corner, not like over here. So that's what happened." Whyte's next bout would come almost a year later against Alexander Povetkin behind-closed-doors on the ground of Eddie Hearn's Matchroom HQ. But Whyte spent the training camp out in Portugal - and Tibbs was unable to leave his family back home in London. Whyte was knocked out by Povetkin but won the rematch before losing his WBC title challenge to Tyson Fury in 2022. After beating Jermaine Franklin in his comeback bout, he was then due to rematch Anthony Joshua in August 2023, eight years after losing to AJ by KO. But the fight was scrapped after Whyte returned an "adverse finding" in his pre-fight drug testing. The result was later put down to "contamination" with Whyte continuing his career in 2024 with low-key wins in Ireland and Gibraltar. Now, he returns against red-hot 20-year-old prospect Itauma in the sizzling Saudi heat on Saturday - live on DAZN PPV. Despite their split, Tibbs hopes Whyte can roll back the clock and upset 12-0 Itauma. Sat next to fellow guest panelists Derek Chisora - who has told SunSport his prediction for the figh t - and Anthony Yarde, Tibbs said: "Dillian's a fighting man, he's a proud man and he's not phased by anything. 'He's genuinely not phased because of the life he's lead and the things he's gone through, which has made him the man he is. 'He's got lovely, lovely long arms and he's got a few tricks up his sleeve because of the experience and the people he's been around.' Itauma vs Whyte, August 16: Watch only on DAZN. Buy now at 6 6

Heavyweight boxer splits with coach after knockout defeat
Johnny Fisher, known as the 'Romford Bull', has announced his separation from long-time coach Mark Tibbs. This decision comes as Fisher seeks a fresh start following his first professional defeat. He was knocked out by Dave Allen in the fifth round of their rematch in May, five months after a controversial split-decision win against Allen. Before this loss, the 26-year-old heavyweight had an undefeated record of 13 wins, including 11 knockouts. Fisher stated the split was amicable, with Tibbs agreeing it was necessary for his career progression, and emphasised their continued friendship.

Johnny Fisher splits from coach Mark Tibbs after knockout loss to Dave Allen
Johnny Fisher has announced 'with a heavy heart' that he is parting ways with coach Mark Tibbs, as the heavyweight aims to bounce back from his first professional loss. In May, Fisher was knocked out by Dave Allen in the fifth round of their rematch, five months after beating the British veteran via a controversial decision. After an unconvincing performance in their first fight and a one-sided loss in their second meeting, Fisher has decided to seek a new trainer – a decision, he says, that Tibbs agrees with. 'It is with a heavy heart that after almost five years of being on this professional journey together, me and Mark have decided to part ways,' Fisher wrote on Instagram Monday (21 July). ' Boxing is the toughest sport in the world, and to continue I feel I need a fresh start to get the best out of myself. 'Me and Mark have made some special memories and reached some milestones in my career that many thought we never would achieve. 'More importantly than all of this though is the friendship we have gained, and to know that I have Mark and Jimmy in my life and to be able to call them both friends is an honour. Thank you for everything.' Fisher, 26, was referring to Tibbs's father Jimmy, who is also a respected coach in boxing. Prior to losing to Allen at London's Copper Box arena, Fisher went 13-0 with 11 knockout wins. In the same venue, in July 2024, he stopped Alen Babic in 36 seconds. But in December, on the undercard of Tyson Fury's rematch with Oleksandr Usyk, Fisher was floored by Allen in the fifth round of a back-and-forth contest, before ultimately emerging as a split-decision winner over his former sparring partner. And in their rematch, Allen again dropped the 'Romford Bull' in the fifth round – two times on this occasion. As Fisher tried to recover from the second knockdown, his corner threw in the towel.

Who is Johnny Fisher? Fight record, stats, next bout, and more
Johnny Fisher returns to the ring this weekend when he faces Dave Allen for a second time, but who is the man they call the 'Romford Bull'? The unbeaten heavyweight garnered notoriety at the end of 2024 for his controversial victory over Allen – and his internet sensation father 'Big John'. But 26-year-old Fisher is a fighter first-and-foremost, a heavyweight with big ambitions on the world stage. Who is Johnny Fisher? Born and raised in Romford, Essex, Fisher was a keen sportsman as he grew up. Not only did he start boxing in his early teens, but his physique and strength translated well to rugby. Fisher briefly drifted away from the sweet science, but returned to boxing whilst studying history at Exeter University. Whilst at uni, he sparred with Joe Joyce, partly reigniting his love for the sport. He turned professional in 2021, securing a first-round stoppage against Matt Gordon at Wembley Arena. Fisher currently trains under the watchful eye of Mark Tibbs at the Origin Gym in Essex. What is Johnny Fisher's record? Fisher remains unbeaten since starting his professional career in 2021, with 13 wins from 13 bouts. Impressively, Fisher has won 11 of those fights by way of knockout, including a run of seven straight stoppages until his split decision win over Dave Allen last time out. After his debut in February 2021, Fisher racked up experience. He fought a further three times in 2021, before settling into a rhythm of three fights a year in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Aside from his victory against Allen, Fisher had respectable wins over Dmytro Bezus and Alen Babic, who had respectively records of 10-1 and 12-1 at the time. Fisher's bout with Bezus was staged in Las Vegas, with the 'Romford Bull' fighting on the undercard of Conor Benn's victory against Peter Dobson alongside stablemates George Liddard and Jimmy Sains. When is Johnny Fisher's next fight? Johnny Fisher returns to action this weekend, when he headlines a card at the Copperbox Arena, London, live on DAZN. He faces fellow Brit Dave Allen in a rematch, following Fisher's somewhat controversial victory against the Yorkshireman in Saudi Arabia last year. Knocked down by Allen, Fisher did well to recover, but many fans felt that the Romford Bull was beaten by his opponent. The card takes place on Saturday, May 17, with the main event ringwalks set for approximately 10pm.
