After 10 Years, a Beloved Bernal Heights Chef Will Open a Second Restaurant

is the associate editor for the Northern California and Pacific Northwest region writing about restaurant and bar trends, coffee and cafes, and pop-ups. One of the city's most time-tested fine dining chefs is about to open his second restaurant. Precita Social debuts, fittingly, on the corner of Precita Park this August. Chef Greg Lutes, owner and operator at Bernal Heights's 3rd Cousin, will helm the new restaurant. The hope here is to open a more casual, yet still refined, dining experience to the neighborhood he's called home for a decade. The restaurant's in the final heat of a Kickstarter as the last touches get put on the place. Significantly, this restaurant takes over the former Marlena space, briefly Foliage from chef Mo Bejar. Lutes says he's aware of the controversy that surrounded the breakup of landlord and restaurant owner Stephan Roulland and chefs David Fisher and Serena Chow Fisher. He says it was a complicated scenario, and he's headed into this venture clear-eyed. '3rd Cousin is 10 years old now,' Lutes says. 'I'd thought about doing a second restaurant for many years. Unlike Marlena, the restaurant here is not tasting menu-driven. The food options will be much more playful while retaining that fine dining backbone. Uni hand rolls dished as tacos, big burgers he served at 3rd Cousin throughout the worst of the pandemic, and the dish of the year, disco fries, will all make appearances. Precita Social will play host to a huge raw bar, too, one black marble counter starring oysters and clams. Larger mains run more traditional: Think steaks, seafood, and powerful vegetables. For dessert, guests can anticipate a Dubai chocolate-inspired soft-serve sundae complete with pistachio, seasonal fruit, and kataifi. A seasonal panna cotta at Third Cousin. Paolo Bicchieri Oceano Ordóñez, the beverage director from 3rd Cousin, will also handle drinks at Precita Social. He's curated an Old World-centered wine list along with beers from local breweries, including neighbor Barebottle Brewing Company; mocktails and shrubs are on deck, too. Herbs and greens come from the restaurant's personal rooftop garden, powered in part by solar panels. The ambiance remains neighborhood-y, with Sky Creative Lab taking on the redesign of the Marlena space. There'll be an additional outdoor parklet added to the mix. Beyond a refinished floor and design elements, Lutes says it's been a bit turnkey. Foliage closed in August 2024. Lutes reached out to Roulland in April 2025. He had eyed a Presidio location, but this proximity is a million times easier. Looking ahead, Lutes says that he hopes Precita Social fills the neighborhood's many dining needs. While 3rd Cousin is upscale, a special occasions spot, he sees this new restaurant as a chance to stretch his wings a bit. People have requested that pandemic burger plenty of times, for instance, but it doesn't gel with the approach at 3rd Cousin. 'This is a blank palette for me to do things I can't do at 3rd Cousin,' Lutes says. 'People know me in Bernal Heights. I see this as my ode to comfort food.' Precita Social (300 Precita Avenue) will open in August 2025 with dinner service Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Reservations will go live on Resy on Friday, July 18. Days of Our Lives Recap: Marlena and Belle Work Through Their Grief

Days of Our Lives Recap: Marlena and Belle Work Through Their Grief originally appeared on Daytime Confidential. On today's Days of Our Lives recap: Marlena and John's Penthouse: Marlena looks out her window alone when Belle arrives home. She says she was waiting up for her daughter and Belle says she told Brady she would be late at work. She says she was sent a huge piece of evidence in Johnny's case which could make a great impact. Belle says the last thing she wants is to be prosecuting Johnny. She says she and EJ want the same outcome, for Johnny to be found not guilty. Belle realizes something else is wrong with her mother. Marlena admits she is feeling some type of way. She admits life without John is freaking her out. Marlena was used to sleeping alone as he was gone for the better part of a year but now it hits different because he is now never coming home. Marlena notes she is realizing how folks have moved on with their lives whilst she's left alone to grieve. Belle promises she is right there with her and won't go anywhere. Marlena decides to go to sleep and then falls to her knees. Belle wonders if something is going on about which she's not being told. Brady Pub: Arianna Grace sees Roman put the closed sign in the window. She enters and Roman wonders what's up. She says she's there to see Great Grandma Kate but wants to leave because he's closed and she's not there. Roman stops her as he knows she is clearly lying. He knows she's there to see young Douglas. She says nothing is going on between the two of them and says she will return tomorrow to visit him and Great Grandma Kate. Brady Pub – Doug's Room: Young Douglas counts his tips and knows it's not nearly enough to pay off the debt collecting goons. Young Douglas apparently left his room and returns to find Arianna Grace. She admits she climbed through the window because she needed to see him. They go back and forth before she asks about his mixed signals. He admits he had to meet a guy to whom he owes money. Doug thinks Arianna Grace shouldn't even be around him. Arianna says she loves bad boys and the two make out. The Bistro: Xander sits alone with a drink and thinks back to better times with Sarah. Xander wants another drink when Gwen approaches. She grabs a drink and takes a seat. Gwen says she heard about what happened with Sarah and offers her condolences. She admits she wasn't always Sarah's greatest fan but thought their relationship would stick and Xander concurs. Gwen apologizes for going along with Kristen when she took Sarah off to the island which is what allowed her and Xander to get together. She knew she couldn't compete with Sarah and says she has a toxic relationship with the truth. Gwen now wonders what would have happened if she had simply told the truth. She wonders if he ever thinks 'what if' and Xander says he never does. She admits she does as it might be on a constant loop in her mind. They talk a bit more and agree to have another drink before going home. Kiriakis Mansion: Sarah sits and thinks back to better times with Xander. She scrolls through pictures when Bonnie walks in and makes herself a drink. She asks Sarah what she was looking at on her phone and jumps the gun saying looking at pics of times gone by with her beloved isn't going to help. Sarah admits she ran into Xander and they couldn't even find a way to be civil. Bonnie says the dark feelings will go away with time. For now, she wishes good riddance to bad trash. Sarah is somewhat surprised by Bonnie's sentiments. She says she was in Xander's corner before she found out about what he did to Philip. She talks a bit about how she tried so hard with her first husband before he beat her senseless. She says Mimi took it as long as she could and one day she killed him. Bonnie begins to cry as she discusses the impact of her relationship on her daughter. She isn't comparing Mimi to Victoria but says she doesn't want to raise her kid around someone with the propensity for violence. Sarah says how sorry she feels for Bonnie but thinks her situation with Xander is very different. Bonnie isn't trying to tell Sarah how to deal with her life but thinks she and Victoria are better off with him gone. Sarah says she and Xander had a decent evening before he just blew up at her (is that what happened?). Bonnie thinks she needs to fight fire with fire. Horton Square: Leo recognizes Julie's necklace. She says possession is 9/10ths of the law and it isn't a stolen bauble. Gwen can't believe he's going after her for stealing something when he did what he did. Javi wonders what she's talking about and Gwen declares her hatred for her former bestie. Leo says how much he regrets what he did to her and thinks he has paid dearly. He says Dimitri left him for a person he met in prison and sent him a horribly written 'Dear John' letter. Gwen says she still isn't divorced from Dimitri and now has full control over his fortune (Where is Dimitri?). Leo says he's not jealous. He pulls Javi in and says some things are more important than money. Gwen goes off and then calms herself. She turns to Javi and says he has no idea what he's gotten himself into. With that, she exits… and leaves Javi with many questions. Leo tells Javi everything about his affair with Dimitri behind Gwen's back. Javi can't believe his beloved could be disloyal to a friend. Leo swears he is devastated by how he treated his former BFF as he simply loved everything about her. He knows he deserves karmic retribution and maybe that means losing his current beloved. Javi says everyone has secrets and regrets and then whispers something in Leo's ear. Javi pulls Leo to him and says there are some things he would never change. Javi and Leo go back and forth about watching baby boy Choi. Leo thinks he's a decent babysitter but shouldn't be trusted as the daddy for a whole family. Javi thinks Leo is proving himself just fine and is short-changing his long term goals. Endings Xander and Gwen drunkenly stumble and giggle through Horton Square. She says he is the one who got away. He, quite fondly, remembers her saying he was the one who got away. He asks if she wants them to get back together and they kiss. Belle tells Marlena she thinks she should sleep on the couch. Her mother agrees and Belle asks if she can sit there with her until she falls asleep. Marlena realizes their roles have changed by says she's happy for her to sit there with her. Javi tells Leo how much he thinks any child would be lucky to have him as a daddy. Arianna Grace and young Douglas continue to make out and hit the sheets. Bonnie wonders if Sarah is asking her how to fight dirty. She begins to offer up all kinds of different ways to send her horrible husband to prison. Xander and Gwen continue to kiss in Horton Square when she invites him up to her room and he goes willingly… just as Leo and Javi watch it happen. New European theme park ‘rivals Disneyland' with epic rides and cheaper tickets

Hossoland has opened on the North Coast of Poland. Visitors there can explore four fantastical realms within Hossoland: the Dragon Valley of the Mines, the Land of the Vikings, the Kingdom of Baltambrya, and Mermaid City Europe's theme park scene has been transformed with the opening of Hossoland, an awe-inspiring new park that rivals Disneyland Paris. Hossoland was due to open on May 31, promising a spellbinding experience on Poland's northern coast. After a four-week delay, the doors have now swung open. The park is centered around a lighthouse, and the fairytale adventure land is inspired by enchanting Baltic folklore and legends. ‌ Visitors can explore four fantastical realms within Hossoland: the Dragon Valley of the Mines, the Land of the Vikings, the Kingdom of Baltambrya, and Mermaid City. Plans for the park were unveiled in 2017, with anticipating growing ahead of its launch since then. ‌ Spanning an impressive 400,000 square metres, Hossoland will boast an array of 50 thrilling rides when it is fully operating. Right now it has 24, including The GhostRider, a stunning steel coaster that towers at 53 metres high, sending riders hurtling at an electrifying speed of 72 mph. ‌ In a chat with Planet Attractions, Hosso Group's vice president, Karen Hovsepyan, said: "The location not only makes it a standout attraction within Poland but also a key destination for residents of nearby Berlin, promising to boost regional tourism significantly." With 20 food and beverage outlets, Hossoland caters to all taste buds. The Hosso Group has ambitious plans for future expansion, envisioning a waterpark and further themed areas post-launch. ‌ Ahead of that expansion, some have criticised the scope of the theme park. While Poland's biggest theme park, Energylandia, has 18 rollercoasters, Hossoland currently has four. One critic felt that this was too few, and those on offer too gentle. "But do you plan something more hardcore for adults? Me and my 15-year-old son are waiting impatiently," they wrote. Some have suggested that the park is a little pricey. Currently, it costs £34 for adult entry and £30 for children. ‌ On its first day open, a light rain fell on those who visited. Among them was a family of four from Silesia. Marlena, the mum, Szczecin that the park was perfect for families and younger kids. " The entire park has a seaside feel. There are Vikings, mermaids, water, boats," she added. For theme park enthusiasts in the UK keen to explore Hossoland, the closest airport is Szczecin. Direct flights are offered by Ryanair from Liverpool and London, making the park roughly a one-hour drive from the airport or under a three-hour trek from Berlin. Yet Hossoland is not the sole newcomer aiming to rival Disneyland Paris come 2025. Another upcoming contender is Bommelwerald, an indoor amusement park inspired by the Dutch comic series featuring Tom Poes and Oliver B. Bommel by artist Marten Toonderand. Set to inaugurate later this year, Bommelwerald promises 18 attractions sprawled over a 9,000 sqm expanse, including a pint-sized flume ride and a tower for climbing. A castle-themed entrance leads into various imaginatively themed zones like the Dark Tree Forest and an area dedicated to inventors. Located in Rust, southwestern Germany, between Freiburg and Strasbourg, France, Europa Park is the largest theme park in Europe. It is also the second most visited resort in Europe, after Disneyland Paris.

Days of our Lives Spoilers June 26: Kate Catches Roman and Marlena in the Act

Days of our Lives spoilers for Thursday, June 26, give Kate one more mystery to deal with as she wonders why her husband is spending so much time with his ex-wife, the grieving widow. An unsuspicious person, Kate is not. Rachel (Alice Halsey) spilled the beans to Marlena (Deidre Hall) about seeing Johnny (Carson Boatman) shoot EJ (Dan Feuerriegel). (For the record, Rachel only saw Johnny with a gun. In Salem, twelve different things could have happened in between that and a bullet actually entering EJ.) Marlena went straight to Roman (Josh Taylor) with the news, bypassing their daughter, Sami (Alison Sweeney), Johnny's mother, completely. Because, well, no situation has ever been made better by involving Sami. Now, they've got their heads together, wondering what to do next. But those aren't the body parts Kate (Lauren Koslow) is worried about. She's always been a smidge jealous about Marlena and Roman's connection, and not to mention that John (Drake Hogestyn), the love of Marlena's life, has passed away. READ THIS: Will Sarah face her past with Rachel? And while the older generation is agonizing, Marlena's daughter, Belle (Martha Madison), is confronting that very same EJ about their relationship. She's admitted she loves him. He's admitted he loves her. Everything should be great. But then there's the matter of her nephew, his son, and Rachel's secret. WATCH THIS: Did you know Soap Hub has a podcast?! Check it out here! Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) claimed Xander (Paul Telfer) was most definitely not the person who beat him into a coma. Not because he wants to protect Xander, but because he wants to protect himself. If he admits that Xander knocked him out, he'll have to confess why. And that will cost him his inheritance. But Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) knows her husband is guilty, and she intends to punish him — even if the courts won't. Which means keeping him from Victoria. Xander isn't keen on playing along. Got a sizzling fan theory? Email amber@ — yours could be our next hot topic!
