Berlin Rookie Test 2025: Cupra Kiro nominates GB3 champion Callum Voisin; Maserati MSG Racing selects Arthur Leclerc
Image Credit: Instagram Almost all teams have announced their nominations for this season's Berlin Rookie Test, which will be held just after the conclusion of the Berlin E-Prix. The test plays a crucial role in identifying rising talent in motorsport, giving them an opportunity to prove their worth and potentially be selected by Formula E teams for future races. The upcoming Berlin E-Prix will take place at the Tempelhof Airport Circuit on July 14 Berlin Rookie Test nominations To qualify for the Berlin Rookie Test, drivers are required to hold either a full E-Licence or a Free Practice Only E-Licence. Maserati MSG Racing have nominated Theo Pourchaire and Arthur Leclerc for the test. Leclerc had earlier joined Maserati as a Development Driver in 2017 and went on to serve as a Test and Reserve Driver in 2019–2020. He also participated in the Rookie Test in Marrakesh in 2019. Cupra Kiro has nominated 2023 GB3 champion Callum Voisin and Bianca Bustamante for the Berlin Rookie Test. The 19-year-old Voisin participated in the Formula 3 Championship and went on to win the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, where he claimed pole position and set the fastest lap. He is currently ninth in the Formula 3 Drivers' standings. On the other hand, Bustamante is a Kiro Development Driver and an F1 Academy race winner. Cupra Kiro Team Principal Alex Hui said about the nominated drivers, 'From his GB3 title win to some standout performances in Formula 3, Callum has a rare blend of speed, intelligence, and composure at the wheel – traits which make him one of the most promising young British drivers in motorsport today. Formula E presents a unique technical and strategic challenge, and we're looking forward to seeing how Callum approaches this opportunity. The Rookie Test is a vital platform for identifying future talent, and supporting the next generation is central to our long-term vision.' For the Berlin Rookie Test, Lola Yamaha ABT have nominated Alessandro Giusti and Hugh Barter. Mahindra Racing have nominated Kush Maini and Dino Beganovic for the test. The Berlin Rookie Test will follow on July 14. Many previous participants have gone on to become Formula E drivers, such as Maserati MSG Racing's Jake Hughes. Stoffel Vandoorne revisits his horrific Jakarta crash; Antonio Felix Da Costa reacts: 'Scary stuff'

The Maserati MSG Racing driver had started from 14th on the grid and was showing promise before a heavy collision with the barrier forced him to retire from the race. The disappointing weekend in Jakarta came just weeks after his long-awaited win in Tokyo — his first victory of the season. Stoffel Vandoorne reveals reason behind his crash at Jakarta E-Prix Taking to Instagram, Vandoorne shared a video of the crash along with a few snapshots from Jakarta, including a selfie with a fan. Explaining what went wrong, he wrote, 'Not the best ending to my race in Jakarta. Lost regen and rear brakes with a few laps to go and ended up hitting the wall pretty hard. Looking forward to a little break now and reset for Berlin.' Despite the setback, fans flooded the comments with messages of support. TAG Heuer Porsche driver Antonio Felix Da Costa responded, 'Glad you're ok brother. Scary stuff.' Nissan's Oliver Rowland — the current Formula E championship leader — also liked the post. One fan wrote, 'Neveeerrrr give up Stoff! Good luck for next race and see you next time.' Another added, 'Keep pushing, Stoff! Onwards and upwards.' A third commented, 'Stay strong Stoff, better results are just around the corner.' Stoffel Vandoorne's long-awaited win in Tokyo Despite the Jakarta crash, Vandoorne's season saw a major highlight when he took victory in Round 8 at the Tokyo E-Prix — his first win in three years, the last coming in Monaco in 2022. He currently sits 13th in the 2025 Formula E Driver Standings with 50 points. Prior to Jakarta, Vandoorne also competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France, although the race didn't yield the results his team had hoped for. Jakarta E-Prix 2025: Maximilian Gunther, Oliver Rowland, or a new face - here are top contenders for a podium finish at Round 12 Formula E race

The Jakarta E-Prix is a crucial race, and it's hard to predict who may lift the trophy in Indonesia this year. The current season has already seen seven different race winners and fifteen drivers on the podium. Not only that, but every single team has achieved a podium finish so far — a clear indication of how tight and unpredictable the competition is. Jakarta E-Prix 2025 podium predictions Oliver Rowland Nissan's Oliver Rowland is far ahead of the competition so far, as he dominates the FIA Drivers' World Championship standings with 171 points — significantly ahead of Pascal Wehrlein, who sits in second position with 103 points for TAG Heuer Porsche. Rowland has a total of four wins and three second-place finishes this season, and he may continue his winning streak in Jakarta as well. Maximilian Gunther Maserati MSG Racing's Maximilian Gunther is being counted among the hot favourites to bag a podium at the Jakarta E-Prix. He has two wins under his belt this year and will be trying his best to maintain his stronghold in the city and add more points to his tally. He had secured third place in the Part 1 race in 2023, having started from Julius Bar Pole Position — a historic moment as Maserati's first single-seater motorsport pole since 1958. He again bagged the pole the next day of the double-header and went on to win his first race in the iconic blue livery of Maserati MSG Racing. It marked Maserati's first single-seater championship podium since Juan Manuel Fangio's 1957 German Grand Prix victory, en route to that year's Formula One title. Pascal Wehrlein Pascal Wehrlein won one of the two races at the Jakarta E-Prix's last edition, and the TAG Heuer Porsche driver is very much in form at present, with a win in Miami and three more podium finishes in the Formula E 2025 World Championship so far. He is second in the 2025 Formula E Driver Standings with 103 points and will be aiming for a win to catch up with Rowland. Mitch Evans Jaguar TCS Racing's Mitch Evans has been away from the podium for a long time now after winning the first race of this season in Sao Paulo. But this could also indicate his growing hunger for a win — or at least another podium — possibly in Jakarta, before the season comes to a close. Evans had won the first edition of the Jakarta E-Prix in 2022, when three drivers crossed the line within a single second. The other two drivers were Jean-Éric Vergne and Edoardo Mortara, who took second and third positions in that Season 8 race. He also bagged the third spot on the podium in Race 2 of the Jakarta double-header in 2023. This makes him one of the strong contenders to make a comeback on the podium. Jakarta E-Prix 2025: All about the Ancol Beach Circuit ready to host Formula E race
Image credit: Formula E As the Formula E season reaches Round 12, the drivers are set to head to Indonesia for the Jakarta E-Prix. The single-header will be held at the picturesque Ancol Beach street track in Jakarta on June 21. The venue is Southeast Asia's largest park, which sees around 40,000 visitors a day. The race marks the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship's return to Jakarta after Season 9. Here's all about the track that will host the Gen3 Evo race for the first time. All about the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit in Ancol The design of the 2.37 km Ancol Beach track is inspired by the Kuda Lumping—a flat horse woven from bamboo and decorated with colourfully painted cloth, which a dancer rides for the traditional Javanese dance. The dancers appear to enter a trance-like state during the dance, which requires a lot of physical power. The track features unique banked sections, undulations, bumps, and a mix of technical and high-speed zones, all expected to test the skill of the Formula E drivers. The 18-turn circuit kicks off with a tight opening sector after a long run down the start/finish straight. There is plenty of room for manoeuvre into the right-hander at Turn 1 before drivers head into a flowing series of turns that swoop by Ancol Beach City. The final sector is a tricky complex following a fast right-hander at Turn 12 and another long straight into what will be a busy Turn 13 hairpin. An awkward left-hander at Turn 18 rounds out the lap, with a strong slingshot required down the long home straight. The circuit also aims to help revive tourism in the island nation, which was significantly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The last Jakarta E-Prix was held in Season 9 (2023–24), marking the second race after the inaugural edition in 2022. This will be the third time the Formula E race is held in Jakarta. Shanghai E-Prix 2025 Round 11 results: Nick Cassidy wins, Porsche duo Pascal Wehrlein and Antonio Da Costa take 2nd and 3rd spot

This is Cassidy's first win of the season as it rained on the second day of the Shanghai E-Prix. Tag Heuer Porsche had a double win on Sunday with Pascal Wehrlein and Antonio Felix Da Costa taking second and third spots on the podium, respectively. Wehrlein also recorded the fastest lap of Round 11. Shanghai E-Prix Round 11 results Nick Cassidy's win was a first lights-to-flag victory of the GEN3 Evo era and a return to the top step for the New Zealander. As soon as he crossed the finish line, he took a sigh of relief on the radio and said, 'I've been waiting for this day.' Tag Heuer Porsche's double podium spots on Sunday came a day after DS Penske dominated the podium on Saturday with the drivers taking first and second spot in Round 10. Meanwhile, Maserati MSG Racing driver Jake Hughes ended fourth. DS Penske's Jean-Eric Vergne who got the second spot on the podium in the Round 10 race, ended fifth. Andretti driver Nico Mueller finished sixth. Maserati MSG Racing driver Stoffel Vandoorne finished seventh despite pirouetting two laps from the chequered flag. The difficult conditions at the rain soaked Shanghai International Circuit caught out a number of other drivers including Jake Dennis, Nyck de Vries, Dan Ticktum and Sam Bird with standing water significant in spots around the circuit throughout the race. Despite that, 21 of the 22 cars managed to make it to the end of the race. The Round 11 race brought about a significant change in the Formula E Driver Standings. Wehrlein's podium reduced the gap between him and Oliver Rowland who tops the Standings with 171 points. Wehrlein is now at 103 points in the second positions. Da Costa is in third with 88 points.
