Sundowns outcast addresses Kaizer Chiefs rumours
Mamelodi Sundowns outcast Terrence Mashego has addressed rumours that Kaizer Chiefs are interested in his services. Mashego has not been a regular since joining the Brazilians from Cape Town City two seasons ago. In fact, he has often been used sparingly by different coaches at Sundowns, and with Miguel Cardoso in charge, it doesn't seem like Mashego is on his plans. And this was fueled by Sundowns' decision to allow him to go to the Bafana Bafana camp for the upcoming CHAN tournament. Bafana Bafana will travel to East Africa for the tournament which only allows local-based to feature in, and Mashego together with Neo Maema are part of that squad. It is worth noting that the majority of those selected by Ntseki are free agents, which brings doubt on Mashego's future at Sundowns. Now, speaking to SoccerBeat while in the Bafana Bafana camp, the left-footed player said all the rumours are dealt with by his agent. Mamelodi Sundowns defender Terrence Mashego. If there is a match, I just need to report to the game. 'So, the rumours and stuff are being dealt [with] by my agent,' added Mashego. Mamelodi Sundowns outcasts lined up for shock move to Siwelele
Mamelodi Sundowns three side lined stars are being targeted by Siwelele FC, the ambitious new outfit preparing for its first Betway Premiership campaign in 2025/2026 The club, which acquired SuperSport United's top-flight status, has already kicked off training in Johannesburg and is working swiftly to shape a competitive squad. Among the prime targets is Neo Maema, the talented 29-year-old who began his professional journey at Bloemfontein Celtic. Despite his promise, Maema struggled for consistent game time under coach Miguel Cardoso last season. He started just six matches, came off the bench 11 times, and appeared in 29 matchday squads from a possible 54 fixtures. Siwelele believes he could rediscover his form with regular football and the backing of a fresh project. Siwelele have also inquired about Terrence Mashego, another Sundowns player who failed to break into the starting XI consistently. The former Cape Town City left-back played just seven games from the start and made six substitute appearances. Coach Cardoso opted to deploy Divine Lunga and Aubrey Modiba ahead of Mashego, pushing the 28-year-old down the pecking order. Mashego's exclusion from the squad that travelled to the FIFA Club World Cup only intensified speculation about his future. Kegan Johannes, who made a high-profile move from SuperSport United, has found life difficult at Sundowns. The right-back, recovering from injury, managed just two starts and four substitute appearances all season. He remains behind Khuliso Mudau and Thapelo Morena in the pecking order. Johannes also missed out on the Club World Cup trip, fuelling rumours that a loan or permanent move to Siwelele could offer him the opportunity to reignite his career. While Siwelele is scouting talent from the Brazilians, several former SuperSport players are heading for the exit. Thulani Hlatshwayo is reportedly set to reunite with Gavin Hunt at Durban City FC. Meanwhile, veteran striker Bradley Grobler has joined Sekhukhune United, and Terrence Dzvukamanja is also set to move on. Interestingly, a few unexpected names have surfaced during Siwelele's pre-season. Jesse Donn, who retired from professional football last year, was seen participating in a training match, possibly hinting at a return. Former SuperSport defender Buhle Mkhwanazi, who exited during the COVID-19 pandemic over vaccine concerns, is also back in the mix, along with ex-Kaizer Chiefs man Kamohelo Mahlatsi and former Pirates midfielder Xola Mlambo, who are both on trial. Limpopo sees 7 000 circumcised in HIV prevention drive
LIMPOPO – The MEC for Health, Dieketseng Mashego, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing progress of the Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) programme, which continues to demonstrate strong uptake across various districts. Since the MEC launched the programme on Friday, June 20, to date, over 7 000 males have undergone safe medical circumcision through the programme, reflecting encouraging momentum in the province's efforts to strengthen HIV prevention and promote men's health. Notably, more than 700 of those circumcised are aged 15 years and above, signalling increased participation from adolescents and young adults. District-level data shows that Vhembe continues to lead with 1 608 procedures conducted, followed closely by Waterberg with 1 220. Institutionally, the top three performing sites are Dilokong District Hospital in Sekhukhune, Tshilidzini Regional Hospital in Vhembe as well as Thabaleshoba Community Health Centre in Waterburg. The MEC commended the commitment of healthcare workers and community mobilisers who are driving awareness and access to VMMC services in these regions. Over a hundred sites are open across the province, and interested members of the public are still encouraged to register. 'We are pleased with the progress made so far. The number of men coming forward for circumcision demonstrates growing awareness and acceptance of the health benefits associated with this important programme. We urge parents, guardians, and male adults who wish to take part in the programme to enquire and register at the facility closest to them,' said Mashego. The department reiterates that the VMMC programme is voluntary, safe, and free of charge, and all procedures are performed by trained medical professionals in line with national health guidelines. The programme is open to males aged 10 years and older, and ongoing community outreach efforts aim to ensure that even more eligible individuals can access these essential services. Kaizer Chiefs reignite bid for Mamelodi Sundowns star Mashego
Kaizer Chiefs have reignited their pursuit of Mamelodi Sundowns left-back Terrence Mashego, aiming to bolster their defensive options ahead of the new season. After failing to land him during the tight January transfer window, the Soweto giants now feel they have both time and leverage on their side – but the situation has quickly become more complicated. A source revealed the club's renewed determination. 'What I can tell you is that the club with all involved departments still believe they need Terrence (Mashego) at the club… They are really reigniting their interest in him.' This statement underlines Kaizer Chiefs' strong internal belief that Mashego fits their long-term vision. Chiefs' technical team reportedly view the Bafana Bafana international as a key component in their defensive rebuild. Initially, Mashego's exclusion from Mamelodi Sundowns' FIFA Club World Cup squad gave Amakhosi hope that the Brazilians might be open to offloading the player. Chiefs viewed this as an opportunity to swoop in without much resistance. However, Sundowns later included Mashego in their Club World Cup roster, sending a strong signal that he remains in their plans. To complicate matters further, Sundowns have triggered a one-year contract extension for the left-back, adding a financial barrier for Chiefs to navigate. With Mashego's contract extension now official, Kaizer Chiefs must table a formal offer if they hope to lure him away from Chloorkop. The free transfer route is no longer an option, placing the ball firmly in Sundowns' court. Chiefs, however, remain undeterred. The source believes the extended negotiation window ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign could prove decisive in getting the deal over the line. If they succeed, Mashego's arrival could prove to be a statement signing, and a crucial step in restoring the club's former glory. Will Kaizer Chiefs dig deep to land Mashego, or will Sundowns hold firm again? Let us know by leaving a comment below or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1.
