Supercars roll into Hedland for one-off community event
Port Hedland will get a rare taste of Supercars action when the Matt Stone Racing team stops in town for a special community event at Spoilbank Marina on Thursday June 12. Fresh off the track at Perth's Wanneroo Raceway, the Matt Stone Racing team is heading to Darwin for the next Supercars round. Driver Cameron Hill and the crew will stop in Hedland, giving locals the chance to meet the team and see their Gen3 Camaros up close. The free event runs from 9am to 11am and is supported by the Town of Port Hedland, MGM Bulk, and Bruce Rock Engineering. Mayor Peter Carter encouraged the community to come down and take advantage of the rare opportunity. 'Given how remote we are here in the Pilbara, it's not often we get the chance to host an event like this,' Mr Carter said. 'This is your chance to mingle and get photos with the cars, as well as chat to the drivers and team.' To keep the engines — and energy — running, there'll be free bacon and egg rolls on offer, with coffee available for purchase. The event promises to be a hit with car lovers and motorsport fans of all ages.

Broc Feeney sprints to Supercars lead with Tassie wins
An untouchable Broc Feeney has shot to the top of the Supercars championship after claiming back-to-back wins in Tasmania. Triple Eight young gun Feeney twice upstaged Tickford rival Thomas Randle in the front row to take out Saturday's two 120km sprints at Symmons Plains Raceway. He first used the side draft on the inside to slingshot himself ahead of pole-sitter Randle in the opener, winning by a massive 7.937 seconds. The 22-year-old then fought off a surprise challenge from Nick Percat to complete his Saturday sweep from pole and celebrate his 100th race in style. He jumps teammate Will Brown and Tickford's Cam Waters to take a 13-point lead in the standings, after starting the weekend in fourth. "Just shows how close the championship is at the moment," Feeney said. "The championship has been so up and down to start this year, so I'm just trying to find some more consistency. "I didn't really think that it would mean much in that second race today, with the 100, but with five laps to go, I was like, 'Oh, this is actually pretty cool'." Randle, still looking for his maiden career win, finished second then fourth across the two 50-lap races. Matt Stone Racing's Percat jumped the field following a strategic pit stop to finish runner-up in the second sprint, claiming his 19th career podium. Waters, fourth in the opener, snuck into the top three using the same move, with help from teammate Randle. "I owe him (Randle) a beer for letting me through," Waters said. "Definitely, I'll repay the favour for him down the track." Feeney's second race was almost derailed when Randle, in a near replica of last year's incident, locked his wheels coming into the infamous hairpin at turn four. But instead of ploughing into the rival Camaro, Randle managed to regain control. Randle finished 18th after incurring a 15-second penalty for the incident last year, with Feeney made to accept 15th. The Tickford driver was later barred by Triple Eight team manager Mark Dutton from entering their garage to apologise to Feeney after the race. Brad Jones Racing driver Bryce Fullwood, after following Randle for his third-ever podium earlier, finished the second sprint in 14th. Defending champion Brown endured a frustrating outing, placing fifth and 11th. Feeney will have a chance to complete his weekend sweep when drivers return for race 13 qualifying at 9.35am (AEST) on Sunday. RACE 11 RESULTS: 1. Broc Feeney (Triple Eight Race Engineering) 2. Supercars 2025: Broc Feeney crushes rival's hopes of a breakout win in the opening sprint race at Tasmania Super 440
Triple Eight star Broc Feeney has put his championship assault back on track after taking out a sprint race double at Symmons Plains to steal the title lead from his teammate Will Brown. Bouncing back from a lean round in New Zealand when his team failed to score a podium, Feeney took his season tally to three victories to continue Triple Eight's dominance at the Tasmanian circuit. The 22-year-old cruised to victory in the opening 50-lap sprint race, finishing almost eight seconds ahead of Tickford Racing's pole-sitter Thomas Randle, with Brad Jones Racing's Bryce Fullwood finishing third to claim his first podium for the year. Starting on pole position for the second race, Feeney faced a bigger battle for his second victory, forced to fight to reclaim the lead after Matt Stone Racing's Nick Percat overcut the race leaders with his mid-race pit stop. It only took Feeney a couple of laps before he was able to wrestle back the lead from Percat, but Triple Eight boss Jamie Whincup admitted the team had been lucky to escape with the race challenge after gambling on a four-tyre pit stop. In his 100th race, Feeney went on to take a two-and-a-half second win over Percat, while Tickford Racing's Cam Waters finished third. Claiming maximum points for the day as he also secured the two fastest laps, Feeney jumped to the top of the Supercars standings ahead of Waters and Brown. Feeney had slipped to fourth in the championship standings after failing to score a podium at the last round in Taupo. Defending Supercars champion Brown's hold on the title lead slipped after finishing fifth and 11th in Saturday's two races. Feeney now his sights set on a clean sweep of the three races at Symmons Plains. 'We made it very hard for ourselves, I didn't expect so many people to come out in front of me,' Feeney said. 'I didn't think I would be getting emotional towards the back end of that race, but with a few laps to go I'm like, 'Man, this is going to be pretty special'. 'I just can't thank the team, my family, everyone that has backed me (enough), to get me here to 100 races. To win today both of them is super special. 'It was a great battle with Nick, that was heaps of fun. For a few laps there, I thought this was going to be pretty tricky, but to get back through the lead and then once again have really good speed is awesome. 'We'll celebrate tonight, but we want to go for three (wins) tomorrow, but it's been a great weekend so far so I am absolutely chuffed. 'It's about time we got those orange (title leader) numbers back on this car and hopefully they stay for a bit longer this time.' Feeney now holds an eight-point title lead over Waters, who was also fourth in the first race, while Brown is 12 points off the lead. The Gold Coast racer is chasing a first Supercars title after finishing runner-up to Brown last year. A 200 km race on Sunday will complete the round at the Tasmania Super 440. RACE 1: FEENEY OFF TO A FLYER Triple Eight young gun Broc Feeney has given his championship standing a boost after cruising to victory in the opening sprint race at Symmons Plains, as he crushed Tickford Racing's Thomas Randle's hopes of a breakthrough win. Bouncing back from a lean round in New Zealand when the team failed to score a podium, Feeney claimed his second win for the year as he finished almost eight seconds ahead of second-placed Randle. At Triple Eight's happy hunting ground at the Tasmanian circuit, Feeney started on the front row alongside pole-sitter Randle and duelled with the Ford driver over the first 11 laps before making his move on the back straight for the race lead. Randle dropped another place to Feeney's teammate Brown later in the lap and it appeared Triple Eight was on target for a one-two before the defending champion encountered trouble at his pit stop and lost ground. Feeney was unchallenged for the rest of the race, leading home Randle and Brad Jones Racing's Bryce Fullwood, who claimed his first podium for the year. Brown finished the 50-lap race in fifth with his closest championship rival, Tickford's Cam Waters, taking fourth. The win moved Feeney from fourth position in the driver standings back into third as he capitalised on his 'rocket ship' Camaro with his lap record pace. Feeney will have another chance to add to his win in Saturday afternoon's second sprint race when he starts on pole position. 'I'm stoked to get a win again, absolutely chuffed with that – the thing was a rocket ship,' Feeney said. 'I knew on the first few laps I probably had the speed, so I just had to wait for my time to get past Thomas and he was driving fantastic. 'I knew where I was going to get him (Randle), I just had to wait for my time. I had a good run through one and two and I knew it was going to be the lap … a bit of side-drafting with the Tickford car which I am used to and it was good to get one back. '(I'm) stoked for the team, it's obviously a great bounce back.' Feeney's victory gave Triple Eight its 27th win from 52 starts at Symmons Plains. Randle, still chasing his first Supercars race win, was pleased to be able to still walk away from a podium but admitted he did not have the pace to match Feeney. 'It's the first podium for me here. It's nice to get the podium and capitalise on the race and I think that's all we could have done,' Randle said. 'It was cool to lead for the first few laps, I was trying to break the slipstream off Broc, but he was too fast.' There was drama before the race when both Dick Johnson Racing Fords were investigated for a technical breach, but were cleared by the stewards.

Kostecki sets lap record for Supercars provisional pole
Brodie Kostecki has grabbed provisional pole with a lap record ahead of the weekend's final Supercars race in New Zealand. The Dick Johnson Racing star set a time of one minute and 25.630 seconds to be fastest ahead of Sunday's top 10 shootout at Taupo International Motorsport Park, which will decide the front of the grid for the 200km finale. He shaved 0.0703 off Kiwi racer Matt Payne's record time from qualifying on Saturday. Matt Stone Racing's Cam Hill was second-fastest and Team 18 driver Anton De Pasquale third. Payne, who won the weekend's opening race, made the top-10 shootout in sixth and was joined by compatriot Ryan Wood, who was fourth-fastest. Fellow Kiwi driver Andre Heimgartner was fifth. Walkinshaw Andretti United ace Chaz Mostert, victorious in the second 120km sprint, scraped into the shootout in ninth. A difficult weekend continued for Triple Eight stars Will Brown and Broc Feeney. After sub-par results for the competition heavyweights in the opening two sprints on Saturday, Feeney qualified in 20th and Brown scraped 18th by just 0.0029 seconds to survive the first portion of qualifying. Feeney, who had been second in the running, was eliminated after pitting late in the session instead of laying another lap. Series leader Brown did not improve enough, qualifying in 12th. His Tickford rival Cam Waters, second in the standings, squandered his chance to make the shootout, qualifying in 18th after locking up his wheels and running off-track at turn 11. Drivers will return at 10.50am (AEST) for the top-10 shootout before the 10th race of the Supercars season gets underway at 1.05pm. RACE 10 QUALIFYING RESULTS AHEAD OF TOP 10 SHOOTOUT: 1. Brodie Kostecki (Dick Johnson Racing) 2. Cam Hill (Matt Stone Racing) 3. Anton De Pasquale (Team 18) 4. Ryan Wood (Walkinshaw Andretti United) 5. Andre Heimgartner (Brad Jones Racing) 6. Rain slams brakes on Supercars sprint in Melbourne
Heavy rain has forced Supercars officials to call off Sunday's 14-lap sprint race at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne. Triple Eight young gun Broc Feeney was primed to claim his second win of the season from pole position at Albert Park before officials canned the race due to unsafe track conditions. The 30-minute session on Sunday had started under a safety car and was eventually suspended under a red flag after three laps. It was vastly different track conditions for the 24-strong Supercars grid, who battled through sweltering heat on Saturday. Feeney was sharing the front row with Matt Stone Racing underdog Cam Hill, while Triple Eight teammate Will Brown was forced to start in 21st. Defending champion Brown had surged back to the top of the series standings after leading a one-two finish with teammate Broc Feeney on Saturday. No points will be awarded to drivers from Sunday's race, though Brown held on to the Larry Perkins trophy. Brown had won his maiden Larry Perkins trophy - named after the legendary five-time Bathurst winner - last year, awarded to the highest points-scorer of the Albert Park weekend since 2018. Conditions are expected to clear for the season-opening Formula One race at 3pm (AEDT). CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS: 1. Will Brown (Triple Eight Race Engineering) 467pts 2. Cam Waters (Tickford Racing) -7 3. Broc Feeney (Triple Eight) -49 4. Chaz Mostert (Walkinshaw Andretti United) -134 5. Brodie Kostecki (Dick Johnson Racing) -136
