Best street style from Lady Gaga's Mayhem Ball Tour in Singapore
Singapore is currently in the throes of mayhem , courtesy of Mother Monster herself. Lady Gaga's Mayhem Ball Tour has finally blazed its way to our shores and just last night, she kicked off her four-night streak at the National Stadium with an epic opening night. With power packed performances of the new and the old, featuring hits like 'Abracadabra', 'Paparazzi' and 'Poker Face', it's safe to say the supernova exceeded expectations. In true Gaga style, the lead-up to the show felt more like a movement than a moment. The anticipation has been palpable for weeks with events being held across the island, from themed parties to art jamming sessions. But for concert-goers, the preparations didn't stop there because for a Lady Gaga concert, your outfit is the ticket to the ball. Typically, a regular concert in our humid swelter might call upon the most practical ensembles but practicality has no place at a Gaga show. If the leather jackets, sheer tights and platform boots that defy gravity spotted all around the city were not enough of a tell, there were handcrafted pieces to recreations of Gaga's most iconic music video looks, as attendees ensured that they'll be strutting in no less than their bold, unapologetic best. Outside the stadium, one can easily glean a different era of the Grammy-award winning artist's vast discography; be it the dark, gothic deliveries that could have stepped straight off the 'Born This Way' stage or the cyber futurism of Gaga's Chromatica . With three more nights to go, one thing's for sure, the little monsters in town are just getting started. Till then, spot the most high octane, elaborate and downright audacious street style looks from Lady Gaga's Mayhem Ball Tour in Singapore, as captured by Leong Su Shan. Mayhem concerts unleashed in Singapore: Little Monsters go gaga with their outfits
Lady Gaga's fanbase both local and foreign came prepared to watch their 'Mother Monster' live in concert. ST PHOTOS: MARK CHEONG Mayhem concerts unleashed in Singapore: Little Monsters go gaga with their outfits SINGAPORE - The drizzle did not dampen the spirits of Singapore's Little Monsters, as they thronged the National Stadium on May 18 amid the gloomy weather. Decked in elaborate get-ups, handmade costumes, intricate make-up looks and remarkable thrift finds, Lady Gaga's fanbase both local and foreign came prepared to watch their 'Mother Monster' live in concert. The 39-year-old American pop star kicked off her first of four Asia-exclusive shows, in support of her new album Mayhem. Amid a sea of black leather jackets and feathered angel wings, several paparazzi-worthy outfits stood out on opening night. Filipino banker and travel content creator Katrina Tiong, 33, turned heads as she pulled up in her nude-coloured 'bubble' dress, a near-perfect replica of Lady Gaga's performance outfit from the Grammy Celebration Concert Tour in 2009. ST PHOTO: MARK CHEONG She said: 'I made the dress myself, with Christmas ornaments that I ordered.' Going further back in time, on the other hand, was Singaporean creative Dil Kaur, who donned an OG look from the singer-songwriter's The Fame (2008) era. The 28-year-old said: 'Lady Gaga represents freedom of expression. I remember the first time I heard her on the radio, when I was 13 or 14 years old. She sang in her song Just Dance, 'Just dance, it's gonna be okay'. And I was like, you know what? It is gonna be okay. And 16 years later, everything is, in fact, okay.' Dil Kaur, a 28-year-old creative from Singapore, pictured ahead of Lady Gaga's Mayhem Ball Tour held at the National Stadium on May 18. ST PHOTO: MARK CHEONG Ms Kaur added that her favourite part of the outfit was that she thrifted it on e-commerce platform Carousell. 'I do drag, and a big part of drag is thrifting. I went online and found a thrifted outfit. So that's what it is. I think it's one of the original looks - very iconic and representative.' But it was Ms Lelani Palmer, 22, a local escape room manager, who had Little Monsters swarming around her, drawn to her handmade homage to Lady Gaga's Paparazzi stage costume from the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. ST PHOTO: MARK CHEONG She recreated the fake blood with handsewn red details and sported the classic platinum blond wig with a pink streak. 'I patterned, drafted and sourced for the materials for the bodysuit and it took me 30 to 40 hours in total to get it done,' said Ms Palmer, adding that Lady Gaga has been part of her life since she was nine years old. Professional drag queen Miga Sokponreay also reached new heights - literally - with a pair of faux snakeskin heels. The uniquely shaped platforms left the Cambodian towering over other Little Monsters, in a nod to Lady Gaga's Alexander McQueen footwear from her Bad Romance (2009) music video. ST PHOTO: MARK CHEONG 'Lady Gaga is not just an artiste and songwriter, but a fashion icon too. She taught me to never fear when fighting for my dreams, and even if they fail or go wrong, at the end of the day, we are all still fighters', gushed the 32-year-old. And you can always count on at least one fan to turn up as the incarcerated, studded leather-wearing version of Lady Gaga from the Telephone (2009) music video - and that person was Mr Juraimi Roslan, 31. ST PHOTO: MARK CHEONG He bought fake cigarettes for his sunglasses and ordered yellow caution tape to recreate the instantly recognisable look. The local freelance videographer - who said he is attending all four concerts, which continue on May 19, 21 and 24 - said: 'She encourages us to be ourselves. Growing up, I always felt I didn't fit in and didn't belong. She makes me accept myself for who I am.' Join ST's Telegram channel and get the latest breaking news delivered to you.

Brazil Police Reveal Thwarted Bomb Attack Targeting Lady Gaga's Rio Concert
Brazilian police revealed Sunday that they thwarted a terror attack that would have targeted Lady Gaga's record-breaking concert at Rio de Janeiro's Copacabana Beach. The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro state and Brazil's Justice Ministry announced two arrests the morning after the concert, adding that suspects were planning to carry out a bomb attack at the concert that drew an estimated 2.5 million people. More from Rolling Stone Lady Gaga Performs to Record-Breaking Crowd at Rio's Copacabana Beach Katy Perry Attends Lady Gaga Concert in Mexico City: 'So Proud of You' Lady Gaga Adds Seven Shows to Mayhem Ball Tour According to police (via Reuters), the plot was orchestrated by a group 'promoting hate speech [against the LGBTQ community] and the radicalization of teenagers.' 'The suspects were recruiting participants, including minors, to carry out coordinated attacks using improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails,' the police said in a statement. 'The plan was treated as a 'collective challenge' with the aim of gaining notoriety on social media.' One male suspect described as the group's leader was arrested in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul for illegal possession of a firearm, while a teenager in Rio de Janeiro was detained for storing child pornography. Authorities — which dubbed the investigation 'Operation Fake Monster,' a nod to Gaga's Little Monsters fanbase — also carried out search warrants on 15 additional suspects throughout the country, confiscating phones and other electronic devices. The plot was uncovered through the Justice Ministry's the ministry's Cyber Operations Lab following a tip from Rio state police intelligence, which found online evidence of digital cells encouraging violence toward the Copacabana Beach attendees.
