Aaron Rodgers' Message About Steelers' Mike Tomlin Resurfaces After Recent News

Aaron Rodgers' Message About Steelers' Mike Tomlin Resurfaces After Recent News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After a long hiatus from quarterback Aaron Rodgers in the 2025 NFL offseason, the four-time MVP has finally decided on where he will be playing next year. Advertisement It's been reported that Rodgers will be flying out to Pittsburgh to sign a one-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday. The move has been made, and Rodgers will be inking the deal just in time for Steelers mini-camp that starts next week. It's been a long process for the two sides, and the Steelers will be getting a veteran quarterback that's linked to success throughout his 20-year career. (Barry Reeger-Imagn Images) Winning four MVPs, being elected to 10 Pro Bowls, and making All-Pro teams five different times, Aaron Rodgers will look to collaborate with Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin for the 2025 season. Video Resurfaces of Aaron Rodgers commenting on Steelers' head coach Mike Tomlin The two are very familiar with each other, and an old video shows that Aaron Rodgers has spoken very highly of the long-time Steelers coach. Advertisement "I'm a big Mike Tomlin fan. I have been for a long time. I like the way that he speaks about his team. I like the way that he goes about his business... I've heard nothing but good things from guys that have played there," Rodgers said in a past interview on the Pat McAfee Show. After beating the Mike Tomlin's Pittsburgh Steelers back in 2011 in Super Bowl XLV with the Green Bay Packers, Rodgers will now team up with him for at least one season. The weapons that Rodgers will be having for next season include wide receivers DK Metcalf and Calvin Austin III, tight ends Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington, and running backs Jaylen Warren and Kaleb Johnson. Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers

GREEN BAY − Aaron Rodgers is not hanging up the cleats just yet. The future Hall of Fame quarterback will play for the Pittsburgh Steelers for the 2025 season, according to several reports. Rodgers, 41, agreed to a one-year deal to play for the one of the NFL's historic franchises. The former Green Bay Packers star will get a chance to play against his old team when the Steelers host the Packers in a Week 8 night game Oct. 26. In an appearance on the Joe Rogan podcast last month, Rodgers said people close to him are battling health issues. "I've been in the weeds with these people who are close to me that have cancer," Rodgers told Rogan. This comes a month after Rodgers made comments on the Pat McAfee Show explaining the reason for his delay in signing with a team was taking time to deal with 'off-the-field stuff." 'I am trying to be open to everything and not specifically attached to anything when it comes to this decision,' Rodgers said to McAfee. 'I'm just going through a lot in my personal life that has to take precedent at this point." Advertisement Rodgers, surely a lock as a first-ballot Pro Football Hall of Famer, will don the black and yellow looking to prove he can still compete at a high level as he enters his 21st season in the NFL. Aaron Rodgers gets a chance at redemption The legend of Rodgers grew from his 18-year career with the Green Bay Packers. A first-round pick in the 2005 NFL Draft out of Cal, Rodgers was selected as the future replacement for Brett Favre. After three years as Favre's backup, Rodgers took the reins as the Packers starter in 2008 and never looked back. Check out: Netflix documentary unveils side of Brett Favre many fans would rather not know about Advertisement During his time as the starter, he won Super Bowl XLV and was the game's MVP. Ironically, Rodgers won his first and only ring beating the Steelers 31-25. He's a four-time NFL MVP (2011, 2014, 2020, 2021) and just the fifth player to win the award in consecutive seasons. Known for his clutch plays and efficient playmaking, Rodgers ranks first on the NFL's all-time regular-season career passing rating list with at 102.6. After a remarkable run in Green Bay, the past two seasons with the New York Jets were less than stellar. Rodgers signed with the Jets in April 2023 and his first season in New York ended as quickly as it started. Making his debut in Week 1 against the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football at MetLife Stadium, Rodgers suffered an Achilles tendon rupture on just his fourth snap after taking a sack from Leonard Floyd. He underwent surgery and was placed on injured reserve, missing the entire season. Rodgers returned to action in 2024, but it was a tumultuous season. Jets head coach Robert Saleh was fired after five games. General manager Joe Douglas also was fired in late November. The Jets finished the year 5-12, the most losses for Rodgers in a season as a starter. A look at the 2025 Pittsburgh Steelers The Steelers are searching for answers at quarterback. The team went 10-7 in 2024 and lost to the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC wild-card round. Advertisement Last season, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields competed for the starting job with Wilson eventually winning out. During free agency this offseason, Wilson signed a one-year deal with the New York Giants. Fields had joined the Jets on a two-year deal. Pittsburgh drafted Ohio State's Will Howard in the sixth round of this year's draft and added Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson during the offseason. The Steelers are one of the best organizations in all pro sports but searching for their first AFC championship since 2010 and Super Bowl since 2008. Rodgers gets his shot to end his career on a high note. This article originally appeared on Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Aaron Rodgers to sign with Pittsburgh Steelers, continuing NFL career

Jac Caglianone Given Huge Comparison to Ohtani, Judge

Jac Caglianone Given Huge Comparison to Ohtani, Judge originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Jac Caglianone, former Florida Gators first baseman and the No. 6 pick in the 2024 MLB Draft to the Kansas City Royals has been called up to play in the big leagues after dominating AA and AAA ball. Advertisement In his 50 games in AA and AAA, Caglianone was hitting .322/.389/.593 with 15 home runs as well as 56 RBIs, and is now ready to make his long awaited jump to the MLB. ESPN MLB insider Jeff Passan spoke on the Pat McAfee Show about Caglianone, and gave him high praise as he enters the biggest part of his professional career, as well as a comparison to some of the biggest stars in baseball. Florida Gators first baseman Jac Caglianone (14) singles against the Texas A&M Aggies during the eighth inning at Charles Schwab Field Omaha during the College World Branscombe-Imagn Images "He is a guy who has the kind of power that Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani have, and there are very few guys in baseball who can say that," said Passan. It seems outlandish to compare a 22-year-old prospect to the likes of Ohtani and Judge, but the stats have spoken for themselves as of now. His power is undeniable and he can make contact with the ball regardless of where the pitch gets thrown. Advertisement After switching from first base to an outfield role (left and right field) in the minor leagues, that is a significant adjustment that is probably delaying his call up to the majors until now. Where they will be playing Caglianone has yet to be determined, but outfield, first base, and even designated hitter are all possibilities for him, and his added height at 6-foot-5 should help him adjust to any of them. Royals fans finally get a glimpse of their bright future with another incredible prospect. Adding him to a lineup with Bobby Witt Jr. certainly creates a lot of excitement for a team looking to push past their 31-29 record. On an off day on June 2, the Royals and Caglianone have the time to get acclimated more before they travel to St. Louis to face the Cardinals. Should he get in the lineup immediately, his first home game will be June 10 where they will be playing the New York Yankees. 'No Chance' Pirates Superstar Pitcher Gets Traded As Team Struggles

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. The Pittsburgh Pirates sit in the cellar of the National League Central, a place they know all too well as they've spent four of the last six seasons there. With the Pirates' persistent struggles, many thought there may be a chance that the Pirates would trade their superstar ace, Paul Skenes, to reload the farm system. MLB insider Jon Heyman shoots down any speculation with a Pirates source telling him, "No chance". More Photo byThe Pirates are committed to building around Skenes and that he will be a building block of the rotation and the future of the Pirates. The Pirates' ace is under team control until 2029 and while the Pirates could buy out many of the arbitration years with an extension the Bob Nutting ownership tenure is not known for spending big, only spending a total of $19.95 million this past offseason. While there was no true trade rumor another MLB insider, Jeff Passan, suggested the Pirates move on from Skenes, on the Pat McAfee Show, as he is at the height of his value with his age, talent and years of team control left. Passan's comments were simply a suggestion and were not the words of a report that he was hearing the Pirates would trade their ace. The Pirates will likely move on from their star before his team control is up unless ownership changes its ways and decides to spend and extend the superstar. The Pirates have one player who has signed a contract worth $100 million or more, and that was Bryan Reynolds when he signed a $106.8 million extension over eight seasons. Skenes would certainly command more than Reynolds and will likely be one of, if not the highest paid, pitchers in baseball when he hits the open market. But for now the Pirates are standing pat and will build around their ace in hopes to turn the franchises fortune around. More MLB: Blue Jays Projected To Be The Next Team To Make A Skipper Change

Why Dan Orlovsky thinks there's no situation more ‘depressing' Than The Steelers'

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been facing some challenges and one of the biggest ones is the decision around quarterback Aaron Rodgers . The Steelers are still waiting on a decision from 41-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now They also have a big hole at the No. 2 wide receiver position after trading George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys Former NFL quarterback and sports analyst, Dan Orlovsky, did not hold back on the current state of the Pittsburgh Steelers offense during a talk show appearance. 'Pittsburgh, the way I look at it now, there's no offense in the league that scares you less than Pittsburgh,' Orlovsky said on the Pat McAfee Show. 'There's no situation that is more, i guess, depressing than Pittsburgh's right now.' Former QB Dan Orlovsky slams Pittsburgh Steelers over their indecision The quarter back position is perhaps the most crucial one for the Steelers. And some experts have even commented that the Steelers may lose their identity if they chase the wrong quarterback. It goes without saying that the team's current roster of QBs, Mason Rudolph, Will Howard and Skylar Thompson have been criticized by their fans widely. However Steelers' outside linebacker Nick Herbig feels confident in the current quarterbacks room, he claimed in a recent podcast. 'We got a Big Ten guy, Ohio State guy [Will Howard]. We got Rudolph. He's always in the gun, in the slinger. We got options. We got options. You know, I like our options right now. I do,' Herbig said on Steelers All-Pro defensive tackle Cam Heyward's Not Just Football podcast. Heyward also shared a straightforward message for Steelers fans worried about the George Pickens trade — 'don't panic.' Tired of too many ads? go ad free now 'I'm sure guys have talked about it, but I think the main thing is, and this is a PSA for all Steeler fans: don't panic, stay patient, we'll get to work,' Heyward said on his Not Just Football podcast. 'I think sometimes we can jump off the ship and think the ship is sinking. We got work to do. And, you know, whoever won the offseason isn't gonna win the regular season, is not gonna win the Super Bowl.' The Steelers appear to be in a similar position to last year at wide receiver following the trade of George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. However, general manager Omar Khan disagrees with that comparison. 'We wouldn't have done this if we didn't feel good about the receiver situation, about our depth here,' Khan said. 'I know people make comparison to last year, but it's not even close to being the same.'
