Offaly racer Alex Dunne claims maiden Formula Two pole position at Monaco
The 19-year-old McLaren Junior, representing Rodin Motorsport, competed in the second of two qualifying groups and edged out Victor Martins of ART Grand Prix, who had set the benchmark in the first session.

Under ideal conditions at the iconic Circuit de Monaco, Dunne trailed Martins' time with just two minutes of qualifying remaining.
But in a dramatic finish, he clocked a lap of 1:21.142, a mere three thousandths of a second quicker than Martins, to snatch pole position for Sunday's F2 feature race, which is scheduled for 8.40am Irish time.
Before then will be Saturday's sprint race at which will see the top ten reversed with Dunne starting 10th, at 1.15pm Irish time.
The Offaly racer currently leads the Formula Two championship standings after winning the feature races in Bahrain in April before his victory in Imola last weekend.
