Starter Culture currently holds wine and cheese events in its Glasgow shop, with collaborations with local restaurants also adding to its roster of events. Starter Culture will occupy the former site of Meadowlark yoga | Stuco Design Announcing the closure last year on social media, Meadowlark Yoga owners said: 'With hearts full of gratitude and emotion, Meadowlark will be closing on May 31. We've had many of you ask how you could help, which has meant the world. If we could ask anything of you now, it would be to please keep bringing your smiling faces and beautiful authentic energy into the studio as much as you can during May.' Describing their loyal customers as 'family' they added: 'Closing up after 12 years is expensive on so many levels, and we would be so grateful if you can shout it from the rooftops - book drop-in classes and use your blocks, bring us your smiles and let's remember all the joy.'

The Owners of an Acclaimed Cocktail Bar Are Opening a Pizzeria in Avondale

It's been five years since Jim Lasko opened Guild Row in Avondale. The building, hidden off Elston Avenue, houses a co-working space for members, a library, a cafe, and a bar. They've hosted private parties and a rotating lineup of food pop-ups. There have been changes since 2020. Thattu opened with its brand of Southern Indian cuisine. Soul & Smoke opened a location off the Chicago River. One of the barbecue spot's neighbors, Metropolitan Brewing, sadly has closed. Now, Guild Row is about to embark on a new journey. They're partnering with the owners of the esteemed cocktail bar Meadowlark in Logan Square on a permanent restaurant inside their Avondale space. Lark Pizza will serve neo-Neoapolitan thin-crust pizza, the kind made famous at pizzerias like Paulie Gee's in Logan Square. They'll also offer Roman squares, or pinsas, to pay homage to designer and architect Elyse Agnello's Italian heritage. The pinsas are inspired by Agnello's family recipes and are low in gluten, according to a news release. Salads and appetizers round out the menu. Meadowlark's Steve Lewis runs three venues in Logan Square. There's the namesake cocktail bar; Union, a beer-hall style bar; and Lardon, an all-day salumeria and cafe. The pizzas will make use of Lardon's meats as toppings. There will be cocktails created by Meadowlark beverage director Abe Vucekovich. The Violet Hour alum will remain in charge of drink development even as he helms his new bar, Friends of Friends, which opens on Thursday, May 29. During the warmer months, Lark will make use of a 2,600-square-foot patio. The restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner seven days a week to the general public. Guild Row members will receive perks. Lark Pizza , inside Guild Row, 3130 N. Rockwell Street, planned for a summer opening. Sign up for our newsletter.

Major news on the future of the Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz, Meadowlark Media & DraftKings

In major news for the Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz and its fans, Meadowlark Media and DraftKings have agreed in principle to an extended contract, the Miami Herald has learned. The deal is expected to be for three years. The previous contract was worth $50 million. Expectations are that the new deal will be officially announced as soon as next week. The flagship Le Batard Show, South Beach Sessions and Nothing Personal with David Samson are among Meadowlark benchmarks of emphasis in the new agreement, which was first reported by Front Office Sports. Closing the deal had its recent pitfalls with reports that top executive John Skipper had left Meadowlark and that popular sidekick Stugotz would have a slightly lesser role on the main show. A source tells us the deal Stugotz signed will allow him the freedom to appear a bit less on the main show in order to grow his own affiliated shows, God Bless Football and Stupodity. The Miami-based Le Batard Show is the biggest, most popular property for Meadowlark, regularly ranking in the top five among national sports-related podcasts. Le Batard ended his long relationship with ESPN in January 2021 to go independent in what was said to be by 'mutual agreement.' Le Batard and Skipper, a former ESPN president, launched Meadowlark Media soon after.

John Skipper to Exit Meadowlark Media

Meadowlark Media CEO John Skipper is exiting the media company. Skipper co-founded Meadowlark in 2021 alongside radio host Dan Le Batard with a goal of bringing his show to digital platforms. Skipper, the former president of ESPN, subsequently pushed Meadowlark to develop documentary and unscripted fare, inking a first look deal with Apple TV+, and developed a franchise called Sports Explains the World that would encompass both anthology series and podcasts. 'Thankful to John Skipper for his friendship and look forward to his continued leadership and guidance on and off air,' Le Batard wrote. 'I asked him to build a successful, fiercely independent media company within four years, and he has. Meadowlark will continue to produce films and documentaries. Our audio/video network is thriving, and we look forward to sharing good news shortly in that regard. I'm so grateful that our Skipper has navigated today's turbulent media seas to get us into much safer waters.'
