Awkward moment Martha Stewart issues a snappy response when asked about Meghan Markle's 'viral' jam during trip to Australia

Martha Stewart seems to have little time for Meghan Markle. The domestic doyenne, 83, is currently Down Under and hosted an In Conversation event at the ICC in Sydney on Wednesday night. During the event, Martha was asked by journalist and author Benjamin Law for her take on the Duchess Of Sussex and her viral jams. Meghan's conserves sold through her lifestyle brand As Ever recently sent condiment fans wild, selling out within just minutes of going on sale. The Duchess' range, which included a £10.80 (AU$22.50) raspberry jam, honey and herbal teas, generated immediate demand but has failed to replenish stock since the initial sell-out. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Martha did not want Meghan to overshadow her big night and she quickly shut down the journalist's question. 'No, I'm not going there,' she said before segueing into a story about meeting Meghan's father-in-law King Charles. Martha's pointed shut-down comes after Meghan was accused of stealing a Martha Stewart recipe for her controversial one-pot spaghetti dish. Meghan's dish was featured in the debut episode of her Netflix series With Love, Meghan, and foodies were quick to point out the similarities between Meghan's and Martha's dishes. Perhaps tellingly, Martha updated her 'similar' recipe for one pan pasta a month before the premiere of Meghan's Netflix series. While the ingredients and method remained the same, Martha updated the recipe description to read: 'The original and the best' causing many fans to suggest it was a pointed comment at Meghan. Referencing Martha updating her recipe, Danny added: 'Did Martha know something? I mean she is very powerful, but I'm putting her recipe to the test to see how it compares.' Danny, almost instantly, put paid to claims of culinary chicanery on Meghan's part, noting the differing ingredients in the two recipes. 'Just off the bat the recipes have a lot of differences,' Danny said. 'Meghan uses a lot of greens... she also uses lemon, but they both use a similar one-pot method.' Danny suggested that perhaps Meghan had used Martha's recipe as inspiration for her one-pot dish. 'Every recipe is built on other recipes,' he said. It was a similar sentiment shared by Martha at her Sydney event on Wednesday, as she weighed in on the recent RecipeTin Eats plagiarism scandal that saw Brooke Bellamy accused of copying the recipes of fellow Australian cook Nagi Maehashi. 'I have so many recipes and it's hard to develop a recipe without having a repertoire behind it,' she told the audience. 'I don't think too many recipes are owned by anybody, they are handed down, used and changed.' However, Martha claimed that it can be considered plagiarism if a recipe is 'copied word for word'. 'If you print somebody else's recipe word for word in your own cookbook then it might be plagiarism but I think it's very hard to prove who actually came up with that recipe,' she continued. 'So unless they are word for word, you can't say they're yours.' Martha's Megan shut down is not the first time she has taken a not-so-subtle swipe at the Duchess. Back in April, Martha was quizzed about Meghan's Netflix series and the kitchen icon claimed she didn't even know it was out. Often seen as the 'original influencer', Martha was quickly compared to Meghan when her 'domestic goddess' TV series was announced - with people even saying she was 'entering her Martha Stewart era'. But when she was asked about what she really thinks about Meghan's show during an appearance on Access Hollywood, Martha appeared blissfully unaware - and seemingly knew nothing about it. 'I have not seen the show yet!' she confessed. 'So, has it started?' With Love, Meghan came to Netflix in March after it was initially postponed from January due to the LA wildfires. Martha, who was sentenced to five months in federal prison for fraud, is seen as the 'original influencer', known for her impeccable taste in cooking, gardening, and home decor. She rose to fame following the launch of her books on cooking, entertaining and decorating before getting her own TV show.

Meghan Markle shares money 'guilt' as she fears she'll 'never have enough'

Meghan Markle has opened up about her money fears in a new podcast episode of 'Confessions of a Female Founder' and revealed she has a 'scarcity mindset' when it comes to finances The Duchess of Sussex has shared her concerns about financial security in the latest episode of her podcast, 'Confessions of a Female Founder'. In a candid conversation with billionaire shapewear founder Sara Blakely, Meghan Markle discussed the topic of finances. Sara Blakely highlighted the lack of positive narratives around financial freedom during her chat with the podcast host. ‌ In response, the 43 year old As Ever founder confessed she would "love to adopt" a healthier attitude towards money. Meghan stated: "So many women, especially, we're taught to not even talk about money. And there's lots of guilt mentality surrounding having a lot." ‌ Markle noted how it's all too "easy" to feel that financial stability is unattainable. Meghan further added: "And at the same time, there's a scarcity mindset that it's easy to attach to, of like 'I'll never have enough'." ‌ It comes after Meghan Makle has secued a new Netflix deal despite ratings which insiders concede were 'limp' and 'disappointing'. The second season is coming in the autumn and has already finished filming, according to Netflix. But 'With Love, Meghan' will be recommissioned for a third series to be shown next year, with the deal being renewed in September, according to MailOnline. Sara, the former CEO of the popular women's shapewear brand, was selling fax machines when she conceived the idea for shapewear in 1998. With an impressive net worth of $1.3 billion, Sara shared her journey of building her empire from scratch, reports the Express. Meanwhile, the couple's Montecito property has significantly outperformed the overall California housing market, which reports suggest has seen median home prices surge by 41% since June 2020. ‌ In the concluding episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, produced by Archewell Audio Productions, Meghan Markle engaged in conversation with the founder of shapewear. During their discussion, Meghan shared her experiences with pregnancy, including her significant weight gain and the challenges of navigating high heels while expecting. Meghan reminisced: "I gained 65 pounds during both pregnancies." She also mentioned an amusing anecdote about a friend recalling a photo from her pregnancy with Archie, saying: "A friend just said to me the other day, they were like, 'I just saw this picture I'd forgotten about when you were so pregnant with Archie.'". Meghan continued: "I always wear my five-inch, pointy-toed stilettos. You have the most enormous bump and your tiny little ankles are bracing themselves in these high heels. But all my weight was in the front.." She humorously described the struggle of maintaining balance: "So you're just going, how on Earth am I not just tipping, you know, face planting? I was clinging very closely to my husband, like, 'Please don't let me fall.'". Meghan resides in California with her husband, Prince Harry, and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, following their decision to step down from Royal duties in 2020. The future of Confessions of a Female Founder, including the possibility of a second season, remains uncertain.

Meghan shares rare glimpse of her and Prince Harry's rescue beagle Mia in latest As Ever promo - amid uncertainty about the future of her lifestyle brand

Meghan Markle has given fans a rare glimpse of her and Prince Harry 's rescue beagle Mamma Mia in a promo post for As Ever amid uncertainty over the future of her lifestyle brand. On Wednesday, the Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared a sweet snap of the pooch, Mia, sniffing the contents of her woven bag that was filled with fresh vegetables grown in her garden on Instagram. Referring to Mia, who the Sussexes rescued in 2022, Meghan captioned her post: 'The unofficial quality inspector of this morning's garden haul.' The 'haul' comprised of broccoli, carrots, corn, red peppers and squash as well as spring onions and an assortment of fresh herbs as Mia buried her face in the produce. The latest post on As Ever's social media page comes one day after Meghan revealed she plans to 'step back to assess' what the lifestyle brand had achieved in its first year - and what it could become in the future. Meghan, who unveiled the company at the start of the year, recently revealed she may never restock her famous jam - one of the many homely products she sold under the As Ever brand - in an interview with The Fast Company. The Duchess was speaking about her business and balancing work with motherhood as the first series of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, drew to a close yesterday. Asked about As Ever, Meghan said she 'step back, gather data from the launch, and figure out exactly what' the company's future holds - as she confirmed new products won't go live until the first quarter of 2026. The Duchess of Sussex, 43, shared a sweet snap of the pooch, Mia, sniffing the contents of her woven bag that was filled with fresh vegetables grown in her garden on Instagram Meghan also revealed the surprising turn As Ever could take - hinting at a future step into the fashion industry that she deemed an 'interesting space for me'. The inaugural run of As Ever products, such as jams, honey and teas, sold out within 45 minutes of the launch. Her previous store sold out in 45 minutes and contained homely items as well as her long-awaited pots of jam. Meghan and Harry's rescue, beagle Mia, was first seen in the family's Christmas card last December. Among six pictures included in the festive greetings card was one which featured the Sussexes with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, as well as their rescue dogs including Mia, beloved beagle Guy - who passed away earlier this year - and their labrador Pula. Nine-year-old Mia was rescued by the couple from an animal testing centre in 2022 The pup was one of 4,000 dogs bred for Envigo breeding and research facility in Virginia. Mia had arrived at the rescue centre having just given birth to eight puppies. The dogs had been bred for pharmaceutical and biotech research - but inspections of the centre had found dozens of violations of federal law over a two year period. Animal lover Meghan has adopted a number of rescue dogs over the past few years and brought her American rescue beagle Guy to the UK when she married Harry. Also in the picture was the couple's black Lab, Pula, who was introduced to the family ahead of Archie's birth in 2019. The pooch's unique name is the currency in Botswana, a country the couple visited in the early days of their relationship. Though not included in their greetings card, the Sussexes also own several rescue chickens, who live with them at their $14m, seven-acre mansion in Montecito, California. Meghan's latest As Ever post comes one day after the Duchess released the eighth and final episode of her podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, featuring Spanx entrepreneur Sara Blakely. Promoting the podcast and As Ever, Meghan told The Fast Company that she wouldn't know 'what to call herself' if she had to write a resume. She said: 'If I had to write a résumé, I don't know what I would call myself. 'I think it speaks to this chapter many of us find ourselves in, where none of us are one note. But I believe all the notes I am playing are part of the same song.' Meghan added that the 'mom moments' push her to success in the business world, with plans in the future ranging from home goods to fashion. Revealing her son Archie has begun to lose his teeth, she described becoming the tooth fairy and leaving coins and a little dinosaur underneath his pillow. She said: 'I had a lot of business meetings the next morning, but I still chose to cuddle with him the rest of the night. Those mom moments energize me to be a better founder, a better employer, a better boss.'

'A wrap': The telltale sign Meghan Markle's podcast Confessions of a Female Founder is over after eight episodes

Meghan Markle's podcast Confessions of a Female Founder has wrapped up after just eight episodes with no announcement to indicate if the series will ever return to the airwaves. Markle, 43, launched Confessions of a Female Founder in April as a weekly series in which the ex-working royal chats to high-profile businesswomen. The Duchess of Sussex spoke to the likes of Bumble's Whitney Wolfe Herd, Cassandra Thurswell of Kitsch and IT Cosmetics' Jamie Kern Lima for the project. Markle also used the podcast as platform to interview the heads of companies she has a financial stake in, including Clevr Blends' Hannah Mendoza and Kadi Lee of Highbrow Hippie. Sara Blakely, the founder of Spanx was the guest on the eighth and final episode, in which Markle opened up about her 'guilt' over having money. "I think so many women especially, we're taught to not even talk about money, and there's lots of guilt mentality surrounding having a lot,' Markle mused. The podcast is Markle's second attempt at the audio medium after her old employer Spotify canned Archetypes and sacked her and her husband Prince Harry two years ago. Confessions was much maligned by critics, while the series completely disappeared from the Spotify charts just weeks after its debut. On Tuesday, the curtain came down for the 'first season' of the podcast, with Markle signing off and appearing to leave the future of the project in the dark. "Well, that's a wrap," Markle announced at the end of the episode. "Thanks for your support as you heard my story, little bits of it.' And with that, Markle's second foray into podcasting appeared to be over after eight weeks and about seven hours worth of audio content. The series was produced under boutique producer Lemonada media, reportedly for a tiny fraction of the old Spotify deal, and it is unclear if Markle has pocketed anything from the series at all. The release of the final episode of Markle's series coincided with a new feature on the Duchess of Sussex published by business outlet Fast Company. The article reads as a glowing testimonial on Markle's many erstwhile projects, with lines that appear to be pasted in straight from an email chain with the Sussexes' PR team. 'There's interest in doing a second season of Confessions of a Female Founder, and many female founders have approached her to be a guest on the series,' the article said. 'But Meghan is now involved in such a wide range of projects, she's sure to find some way to tell her story.'
