My Chemical Romance Cover Bon Jovi's ‘Livin' on a Prayer' During New Jersey Show

As New Jersey locals My Chemical Romance returned home with a headline show on Saturday night (Aug. 9), the group paid tribute to one of the state's other iconic acts, Bon Jovi. Performing at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey over the weekend, the latest show in the group's ongoing Long Live The Black Parade Tour wrapped with a special cover version of Bon Jovi's 'Livin' on a Prayer.' More from Billboard Art Fein, Cable TV Host & Author, Dies at 79: 'The Ed Sullivan of Public Access TV' Fans Choose Gunna's 'The Last Wun' as This Week's Favorite New Music Bobby Whitlock, Co-Founder of Derek and the Dominos, Dies at 77 'We're going to play you guys what may be the New Jersey state anthem,' frontman Gerard Way explained, noting it was requested by guitarist Frank Iero after witnessing Way perform it during karaoke. 'I f–king love this song,' he added. Released in 1986 as the second single from the band's third album, Slippery When Wet, 'Livin' on a Prayer' became the second consecutive single from the record to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 following 'You Give Love a Bad Name.' As Way suggested, the song's lyrics and its focus on the working-class from New Jersey have seen it achieve anthemic status within the state. Earlier in the evening, the band's set was interrupted by Michael Melham, the Mayor of the group's hometown of Belleville. Melham was on hand to surprise the group by awarding them the key to the city. 'Belleville's musicians have entertained millions worldwide,' Melham told the crowd. 'Their sound has shaped generations. 'Yet even in our storied history in Belleville – Revolutionary War soldiers, Purple Heart recipients, a Supreme Court justice, various professional athletes – never once in the history of Belleville have we handed out a key to the city and that changes right now.' Way, who was reportedly unaware of the honor beforehand, accepted graciously, albeit remaining in character as The Black Parade portion of the band's set required. 'We cannot let you leave without giving you a token of our land, Draag,' he told Melham in an Eastern European accent before handing him a bundle of wheat and a 'Gubric fish, from the Gubric River' in return. Jamie Melham goes back-to-back in The Goodwood with victory on Reserve Bank

Reserve Bank may have tested the patience of his trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, but the colt is now a valuable stud prospect after his win in The Goodwood at Morphettville. The son of Capitalist provided Price his fourth win in the 1200m Group 1 sprint when successful on Saturday while also giving jockey Jamie Melham back-to-back wins after guiding Benedetta home 12 months ago. Price said Reserve Bank had proved a handful for his handler Matthew Chadwick, formerly apprenticed to the trainers at Cranbourne, before making the move to Adelaide. 'He's actually got a good temperament and a good brain, but he comes to the races and Matthew Chadwick has been wrestling him for three hours,' Price said. 'He had a ride and ran second earlier in the day, and I said, 'You sure you're up to this?', but he never left him alone. 'He's done a great job here with him. 'He's a typical colt. He's full of himself and he's a lad, the big alpha male colt.' Settling back in the field, Melham rode for luck before Reserve Bank ($5.50) went on to score a 1-¼ length win from Sir Sway ($61) with the $2.10 favourite Giga Kick a nose away third. 'He's a Group 1 winner now as a colt,' Price said. 'A beautiful, sound, big, strong, nice colt. I was a bit concerned in the run where he was. 'I did say to Jamie, he's a nice flow-along sort of horse. He doesn't like the mixed messages and don't drag him back. 'I'm sure he was out the back, but thankfully they ran along, and he was allowed to use his big stride late and he took off.' Originally starting her career in Adelaide, Melham went on loan to Price during her apprenticeship before returning to Adelaide. Since setting up base back in Melbourne, Melham now has 17 Group 1 wins to her credit, but Saturday's victory was her first at the highest level for Price. 'She was apprenticed to me a long time ago when she came to Victoria,' Price said. 'She actually said, 'that bloke hindered my career' as I don't think I put her on enough.' Melham said it was special to record back-to-back victories in The Goodwood. She said nothing went to plan after Reserve Bank reared at the start. 'But I got a beautiful run in the end,' Melham said. 'Giga Kick was on our outside, and I thought if I drag back now and get on his backside, he's going to be too sharp, so we just rode for luck. 'The gaps came, and I was just a passenger. 'It's a very special race to win, and there's nothing like winning a race back home in Adelaide in front of my aunties, Auntie Jan, and the family are here. 'It's special, very special.'

Man sets world record by visiting 42 museums in under 12 hours

A British man has become a Guinness World Record holder after visiting an unparalleled 42 museums in less than 12 hours. While Ben Melham, age 42, earned the record of 'most museums visited in 24 hours,' he actually completed his attempt in less than half that time. Melham traversed London last October, beginning his journey at East London's Museum of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society at 9:03 a.m., and finishing it at the Royal Academy of Arts in Central London at 7:58 p.m., Guinness World Records said in a press statement. In between, he visited some 40 other museums, ranging from world-renowned attractions including the Natural History Museum, the Tower of London and the British Museum, to the smallest of the United Kingdom's national museums -– the Sir John Soane's Museum. Melham said he was inspired to attempt the record after reading a Guinness World Records book with his children. After discussing how hard it could be to break a world record, his kids, Matilde and Henrik, 'challenged me to turn words into action,' Melham said, according to Guinness World Records. He decided to undertake the challenge in London, which he called an 'obvious choice.' 'London's museums contain millions of objects. Each of these can give you a moment to connect to a point in time, a particular person or wonder of nature,' he said. Melham, who works in the museum sector as an operations consultant, is now hoping to break the world record for most museums visited in one year. As of last week, he had visited 85 museums since he beginning his challenge in October, documenting his journey on Instagram and Bluesky. 'Museums preserve and share the stories and objects that define us. They are spaces where we come together to reflect on our past, discuss our present, and imagine our future,' Melham said. His world record for visiting 42 museums in 24 hours beat the previous title holders by 11 museums. Sujoy Kumar Mitra and Swaroop Dawrani, both from India, set the previous record earlier in 2024, visiting 33 museums in one day, Guinness World Records said.
