After Exit From Spirit, Deepika Padukone Joins Allu Arjun And Atlee's Film: "Queen Marches..."
New Delhi: Deepika Padukone has officially joined the cast of Telugu star Allu Arjun and director Atlee's upcoming film. What Backed by Sun Pictures, the film is described as a "magnum opus". "The Queen marches to conquer! Welcome onboard @deepikapadukone #TheFacesOfAA22xA6 #AA22xA6 - A Magnum Opus from Sun Picture @alluarjunonline @atlee47," the production house wrote on Instagram. This will mark Deepika Padukone 's first on-screen collaboration with Arjun and a reunion with director Atlee, with whom she previously worked on the 2023 hit film Jawan, starring Shah Rukh Khan. Atlee is also known for his work in Tamil films such as Mersal, Theri, and Bigil. While there was never any official confirmation of her involvement, reports claimed she was dropped from the film due to creative differences and disagreements over work hours and remuneration. A source told Bollywood Hungama, "Sandeep Reddy Vanga got the shock of his life when Deepika Padukone refused to shoot for more than 6 hours a day for Spirit. That's not all, the actress, via her agency, also started to demand an amendment to the contract. Their point of contention was simple - if the shoot extends beyond 100 days, Deepika will have to be paid extra for every single day of shoot beyond the commitment on paper." Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga also appeared to address the situation in a post on X, without naming Padukone directly. He wrote, "When I narrate a story to an actor, I place 100% faith. There is an unsaid NDA (Non-Disclosure Agreement) between us. But by doing this, You've 'DISCLOSED' the person that you down a Younger actor and ousting my story? Is this what your feminism stands for? As a filmmaker, I put years of hard work behind my craft & for me, filmmaking is everything. You didn't get it. You won't get it. You will never get it." Following Padukone's reported exit, actor Triptii Dimri has been confirmed as the female lead in Spirit. Dimri, who previously appeared in Vanga's Animal, announced the news on social media by sharing the film's title poster with her name written in multiple Indian and international languages. In the caption, she wrote, "Still sinking in... So grateful to be trusted with this journey. Thank you @ Honoured to be a part of your vision." Meanwhile, reports also suggested that the actress might be dropped from Kalki 2, starring Prabhas, due to her request for shorter work hours post-motherhood. A report by stated that this request is reportedly causing "friction on sets." However, no official statement has been issued by Padukone or the makers. A source close to the development has since refuted the claims, calling the reports "untrue".

Actor Deepika Padukone on Saturday joined the cast of Telugu cinema star Allu Arjun and director Atlee's upcoming movie. Backed by production banner Sun Pictures, the movie is billed as a 'magnum opus'. The currently untitled movie was officially announced on Arjun's 43rd birthday in April. "The Queen marches to conquer! Welcome onboard @deepikapadukone #TheFacesOfAA22xA6 #AA22xA6 - A Magnum Opus from Sun Picture @alluarjunonline @atlee47," Sun Pictures posted on Instagram. The project will mark Deepika Padukone's reunion with director Atlee, following their successful collaboration on the 2023 blockbuster "Jawan", which was headlined by Shah Rukh Khan. It will also be her first on-screen pairing with Arjun, the lead actor of the "Pushpa" franchise. Atlee is also known for Tamil films 'Mersal', 'Theri', and "Bigil". Padukone coming on board Atlee's film follows the controversy surrounding her reported exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Spirit' due to creative differences though there was never any official confirmation of Padukone's involvement in the film.

Meet star with 8 consecutive ₹200-cr hits, beat Shah Rukh, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Prabhas; but retired at his peak
It wasn't so long ago that the 100-crore club was established in Indian cinema as a benchmark of box office success. But pretty soon, as ticket prices soared and Indian films found markets outside their core base, the ₹100-crore mark became too low, and ₹200 crore began to be seen as the minimum requirement for success. In the last decade, as most films try to breach that mark, there has been only one actor who has done that, film after film, without fail. And yet, despite this unbroken, unconquered streak, he is set to bid adieu to films. Tamil superstar Vijay, known to his fans as Thalapathy (commander), has been a force at the box office for almost 20 years now. But over the last 10 odd years, he has consistently left contemporaries and even seniors behind. In 2017, he starred in Atlee's Mersal - his first ₹200 crore hit. This was the start of a streak that has continued since. In this time, all of Vijay's films - Sarkar, Bigil, Master, Beast, Varisu, Leo, and The Greatest of All Time - have grossed over ₹200 crore. With Leo, he broke new ground as the film grossed ₹605 crore, leaving Rajinikanth's Jailer behind. GOAT, his last film, was said to be 'slightly underwhelming' and yet it earned over ₹400 crore worldwide, a staggering number. On 2 February 2024, Vijay announced the launch of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), and stated that he would be retiring from films soon. His final film, Jana Nayagan, was announced later that year. Directed by H Vinoth, the film also stars Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol. It is slated to release on January 9, 2026. After its release, Vijay will enter politics, bidding adieu to films at the age of 51.
