Trump brutally mispronounced Tua Tagovailoa's name despite meeting him multiple times
Tua Tagovailoa is a pretty well-known name in sports circles. Despite his injuries over the years, the Miami Dolphins quarterback routinely makes plays worthy of highlight reels. So much so that the average sports enjoyer probably has a pretty firm grasp on who he is and how to pronounce his name. Unfortunately, U.S. President Donald Trump fumbled Tagovailoa's name in a pretty brutal way when speaking to the press on Thursday. During a meeting with a handful of professional athletes — including Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker and golfer Bryson DeChambeau — Trump spoke to the press about the reinstatement of the Presidential Fitness Test. While talking about the professional athlete council that likely helped with the endeavor, Trump mentioned Tagovailoa but completely butchered his name. That is quite the fumble. Even worse is that Trump and Tagovailoa have been linked together in the past. Tagovailoa was pictured in Trump's daughter Ivanka Trump's Instagram posts in March and Tagovailoa's wife has shown support for the U.S. President on social media over the last year.

Donald Trump awkwardly butchers Tua Tagovailoa's name in excruciating White House gaffe
Donald Trump found himself tongue-tied as he attempted to pronounce Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa 's last name. The president, 79, hosted multiple professional athletes, including two-time major winning golfer Bryson DeChambeau, at the White House Thursday for an executive order signing that will reestablish the Presidential Fitness Test. While Trump has had no issue mastering the golfer's name while enthusing over his game in the past, he hit a stumbling block while trying to offer the same praise to Tagovailoa. The Commander-in-Chief sounded out the last name of the signal caller, who is of Samoan descent, before butchering the pronunciation anyway. More to follow.

A Zach Sieler extension is reportedly coming soon
An extension for Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Zach Sieler is coming soon, according to a report. Josh Moser of WSVN-TV said in an appearance on the podcast that the Dolphins and Sieler are working to get a deal done and expect to have it finalized before the regular season begins in September. "The Zach Sieler extension will get done before Week 1," Moser reported. "The plan is to get Zach paid before stepping on to the field. That has the ability to clear more cap space as part of a roster bonus or a guarantee like we saw with Minkah Fitzpatrick -- they did it as a signing bonus. So that would open up more [salary cap] room." Sieler, 29, signed a three-year extension with the Dolphins prior to the 2023 season and rewarded the team's faith with back-to-back 10-sack campaign -- something no other defensive tackle in the NFL accomplished in the last two years. But with two seasons left on his deal, his average salary doesn't even crack the top 30 among interior defensive linemen. The relatively cheap deal for Sieler isn't doing the Dolphins many favors either, as it is due to count $12.4 million and $11.5 million against the team's salary cap in 2025 and 2026, respectively. An extension could increase Sieler's salary and lower the hit against the Dolphins' salary cap by upwards of $5 million in each of the next two years. Earlier in July, Sieler told reporters that he expected the Dolphins would take care of him with a new deal soon. "I do feel that respect coming and I feel like I've earned it; I know I've earned it," Sieler said. "I know I have the best years ahead of me. I didn't play for three years in the NFL. I only played two and a half in college. So, you really think about it like I got less years under my belt than some rookies do. So, I really feel like my best years are ahead of me, and I have all that knowledge and experience from the last seven years." In six years with the Dolphins, Sieler has recorded 30 sacks, 49 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, and two interceptions. Former Steelers Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick Wants New Deal with Dolphins, Hires Drew Rosenhaus
Miami Dolphins free safety Minkah Fitzpatrick has hired Drew Rosenhaus as his new agent, as the All-Pro is seeking a new deal with Miami, according to Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald. Fitzpatrick is out of guaranteed money on his existing deal, which pays him $15.5 million this season. The Pittsburgh Steelers traded Fitzpatrick as part of their blockbuster deal with the Miami Dolphins earlier this month. On Wednesday, jead coach Mike Tomlin explained the team's reasoning for moving on from Fitzpatrick. 'Very difficult. His experience here and the production that he gave us speaks for itself. But you got to make tough choices,' Tomlin said. 'Obviously I've been talking glowingly about two top notch players that we acquired in that. But I don't obviously lessen the impact of a player like Minkah. We're really excited about the acquisition of two significant players on both sides of the ball, particularly as it pertains to the passing game.' Fitzpatrick had six interceptions in 2022 (tied for first in the NFL) and had 11 over his first three seasons in Pittsburgh. He also had three forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries from 2019-21. Over his first four seasons, he had 24 splash plays over 51 games. Over the last two seasons, he had just one interception, no forced fumbles and no fumble recoveries over 27 games. Given what the Steelers were dishing out, Fitzpatrick was not living up to his contract. The Steelers don't have a clear-cut answer in replacing Fitzpatrick, however. Maybe Juan Thornhill will step up into a starting role or Jalen Ramsey will move to safety. The Steelers also signed veteran Chuck Clark on Friday, so perhaps he could fill the void at free safety. Despite wanting a new deal, Fitzpatrick has been active at all five training camp practices thus far. He's turned heads as well, according to Omar Kelly. 'Minkah just silenced all that talk he can't run anymore. He saw ball and went and got it. Plucked it out the air,' Kelly wrote on X on Saturday. Fitzpatrick also pulled down the first interception of camp by picking off a bullet from Zach Wilson in the middle of the field.
