Liverpool ready to pay full £126million asking price for Florian Wirtz to avoid drawn-out transfer saga

LIVERPOOL are preparing to pay the full £126million asking price to capture Florian Wirtz as soon as possible. The Bayern Leverkusen playmaker is understood to have agreed a five–year deal. Although the clubs have yet to agree a final fee. But boss Arne Slot wants to avoid a drawn–out saga. His club first offered £110m then went back with an improved offer. Now Anfield's chief executive of football Michael Edwards has been given permission by owners Fenway Sports Group to go all–in. There is growing Kop optimism that the 22-year-old will put pen to paper after the end of the international break on Sunday. Wirtz featured in Germany's Nations League semi-final defeat to Portugal. He opened the scoring at the Allianz Arena with a well-taken header just after half-time. But Francisco Conceicao and . Julian Nagelsmann's side will now face either France or Spain who play tonight in Sunday's third-fourth play-off. After that, Wirtz will be free to have a medical. And, as is now all but certain, become the showpiece signing of Slot's squad summer splurge with £29m Leverkusen team-mate Jeremie Frimpong already on board. Liverpool had been prepared to go to £120m including add-ons for Wirtz. But they now accept the Bundesliga club will not back down on their original valuation. They are hoping all negotiations can now be completed by the weekend and that Wirtz will be signed and sealed before heading out on holiday in readiness to join his new club for pre-season training which starts early next month. The attacker's number at Anfield remains unclear. Reports suggested he wanted to take the No10 off Alexis Mac Allister - but he quashed those suggestions with an Instagram post. Wirtz, who wears No10 for Leverkusen but No17 for Germany, wrote: "Who says I want the 10 [emoji]. "I respect players. "Don't believe everything that's written," followed by a clown emoji. Elsewhere, Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez is also expected to sign next week for £45m – taking the Anfield spend to £200m. 2

Liverpool ‘hold talks over Hugo Ekitike transfer' as they join Chelsea in race for £84million striker

LIVERPOOL have entered the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike, according to reports. The Reds are looking to add attacking reinforcements to their squad with rumours that Darwin Nunez could be swapping Merseyside for the Middle East this summer. 1 According to Sky Germany, Frankfurt forward Ekitike is on the list of targets for Liverpool. It's claimed that the newly crowned champions have already opened talks over a potential move. While Arne Slot and exec Michael Edwards are both keen on the French youth international. It won't be an easy deal to get over the line with Chelsea also thought to be in the running to sign the 22-year-old Bundesliga bagsman. Ekitike, who scored 15 goals and registered eight assists in the league this season, won't come cheap. It's reported that Frankfurt CEO Markus Krosche is holding out for a fee of around £84MILLION for the club's star man. Liverpool already splashed £85m on Darwin Nunez in the summer of 2022, but the Uruguayan has fallen out of favour at Anfield. Nunez managed just five league goals this season as Liverpool stormed to a 20th league title. Boss Slot rarely chose to use the former Benfica man from the off, starting him just eight times in the league all season. And it looks as if Nunez's time with Liverpool could be coming to a close. Trent Alexander-Arnold breaks down in tears and kisses badge as he gets emotional send-off from Liverpool fans Rumours have suggested that clubs in Saudi Arabia a considering a move to bring the striker to the Saudi Pro League next season. While La Liga giants Atletico Madrid have also been suggested as potential suitors. THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY..

Liverpool offer player swap deal to land £126m-rated Florian Wirtz

Liverpool's transfer window strategy appears to be shifting dramatically, with talks intensifying over Bayer Leverkusen's attacking talisman Florian Wirtz. According to the Daily Star, the Reds are looking to structure a deal that sends a player the other way in order to soften the blow of Leverkusen's reported £126 million valuation — a sum that would shatter the current British transfer record. This negotiation tactic could be decisive, especially after 'other clubs withdrew from negotiations due to Wirtz's hefty price tag.' The idea of a player-plus-cash offer is gaining traction, with Anfield chiefs Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes driving talks at pace. Leverkusen are reportedly on the hunt for reinforcements in several key areas. A goalkeeper, central defender, striker and attacking midfielder are all on their radar — and Liverpool may have the assets to oblige. The likes of Caoimhin Kelleher, Joe Gomez, Darwin Núñez, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are 'potential options in negotiations,' giving the Reds flexibility in structuring a deal. Discussions remain ongoing as to whether any outgoing Liverpool player would depart permanently or on loan. Regardless, 'any of those players heading to the BayArena would likely bring Wirtz's fee below the record £115m that Chelsea shelled out to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton in 2023.' The balance of power in this high-stakes transfer battle appears to be tipping towards Merseyside. Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has openly conceded that 'Max Eberl (Bayern sporting director) informed me that Florian Wirtz is probably leaning towards Liverpool. I can't say how things will transpire with Leverkusen.' It marks a remarkable U-turn. Bayern were 'previously believed to be favourites,' having engaged in quiet talks with Wirtz's father, Hans-Joachim. Initially, there was belief that Wirtz would remain in Germany, but a shift in preference occurred just before the player's summer holiday, with his father reportedly informing Bayern's hierarchy that Liverpool had emerged as the desired destination. It's hard not to get excited about this. Florian Wirtz isn't just a name — he's a generational talent with the vision, control and technical sharpness that Liverpool fans dream about. With Arne Slot now overseeing a transitional period at Anfield, adding a player like Wirtz would be a definitive statement of intent. Fans may be concerned about losing the likes of Harvey Elliott or Curtis Jones, who represent the club's future. But if one of them is the key to unlocking a deal for Wirtz, many would argue it's a risk worth taking. 'You have to give up quality to gain world-class,' one could say. Wirtz could be the creative heartbeat Liverpool have lacked since Philippe Coutinho. With Bayern admitting defeat and Liverpool's top brass moving swiftly, this feels like a defining summer. If Edwards and Hughes get this over the line, it could be one of the boldest and smartest plays in recent Liverpool history.
