The best serial killer movies of all time
John Carpenter didn't invent the idea of murdering groups of horny teenagers; Black Christmas beat him to the punch by four years. His innovation was to give the killer a discernible identity – rather than a vague, anonymous apparition of evil, he gave audiences something they could visualise in their nightmares. Crucially, that's not the same thing as a backstory. At the onset of the franchise, the only thing we really know about Michael Myers is that he stabbed his own sister to death as a child and that premarital sex upsets him. And yet, that's enough to make him far more frightening than many of the other seemingly indestructible monster-men to follow in his lumbering footsteps. The basic tenets of the original Halloween have been aped so many times that it's hard to watch with completely fresh eyes, but decades from now, seeing his masked visage emerge from the shadows behind Jamie Lee Curtis will still cause audiences to leap out of their seats.

Man named Michael Myers charged with murder of his brother
When you see the name Michael Myers your first thought might be the Halloween villain? Maybe even the actor Mike Myers? But a real life man called Michael Myers has been arrested and charged in West Virginia over the murder of his brother. Myers, 67, said on a 911 call that 'his brother was shot and that he was dead', according to the criminal complaint. The dispatcher asked if he had shot himself, and Myers said he would tell officers 'when they get there'. His brother was found lying dead near the front door on the porch at the home in Keyser that they both shared together. Blood was seen on the ground and he had a gunshot wound on his upper back. The brother was taken to hospital for an examination. While no weapons were found by the victim, Myers said he used a 8mm Mauser rifle to shoot him dead. He told officers that he 'felt like a prisoner' in the home. Myers has been charged with murder and is being held in the Potomac Highlands Regional Jail. Salem VFD: ‘Do not chase the firetrucks and ambulances to an emergency scene'
SALEM, (WBOY) — Volunteer firefighters in Harrison County are reminding residents that following emergency vehicles is against the law and costs first responder valuable time. In a public service announcement on social media Tuesday, the Salem Volunteer Fire Department said that drivers chasing or following ambulances and firetrucks can cause delays and negatively impact emergency response. 'We need all the area we can get so that the apparatus can get to scene, work the scene safely and the ambulances can get in route to the hospital without any delays. Please follow the traffic patterns that may be in place and respect the boundaries set up for our safety and yours!' the department said. Under §17C-14-9, following a responding emergency vehicle at closer than 500 feet or blocking an emergency vehicle is a misdemeanor crime. Man named Michael Myers charged with murder in Mineral County
KEYSER, (WBOY) — A man named Michael Myers has been arrested in West Virginia and is accused of murdering a his brother over the weekend. According to a criminal complaint, on May 18, Mineral County 911 received a call from Myers, 67, of Keyser, who told dispatchers that 'his brother was shot and that he was dead.' Dispatchers asked if the brother had shot himself, to which Myers said he would tell law enforcement 'when they get there.' The complaint said that Myers and his brother lived in the house together. Shortly after, deputies with the Mineral County Sheriff's Office arrived at Myers' residence on Shaw Road near Keyser, where they said they found the victim lying dead near the front door on the front porch. They added that blood could be seen on the floor of the porch and an apparent gunshot entry wound could be seen on the victim's upper back. US Marshals task force arrests 40 fugitives in West Virginia Deputies said that no weapons were found around the victim, who was taken to Potomac Valley Hospital for additional examination. While on the scene, deputies spoke with Myers, who told them that he used an 8mm Mauser rifle to shoot the victim from the stairs of the residence and that he did not move the victim's body, the complaint said. Myers told deputies that the victim planned to kill him and that he 'felt like a prisoner' in the residence they shared.
